Sudden reverse (for Mjølner)

The results of the last exam were perfect. As usually, actually. And still, Maeve Row was excited about her grades. She was one of those people who easily praise themselves for any small achieving and never pay any attention for their failures. That’s why she didn’t bother at all with her barely passed math class and poor performance in a gym.

She passed all her exams and waited for a beginning of summer vacations. She had big plans for this summer. But Maeve still had some business here at campus. One of them was controlling her ward, who as usually didn’t do very well this year.
Maeve was waiting for him, glancing on the bright warm sun.

The exames could have gone better for Frank Cohen. His grades weren`t really good and he was on the verge of failing several of his classes. The only two classes he was any good at was gym and history. He sighed softly as he was on his way to meet the student he was partnered with. Frank was not looking forward to that at all, since he knew she would do well and he wouldn`t. His ruby red eyes looked forward and he gave a small, nervous smile as he spotted her. " Hi, Maeve." he greeted.

“Hey!” Maeve answered back.
She couldn’t hold the smile as she saw him. The smile wasn’t the pleasant one. Frank was a little nervous and they both knew that he has every reason to act like that. Maeve wasn’t one of those empty-headed girls who forgave bad grades for a nice smile only.

“So, how are you doing?” she answered. “Grades are high, I believe, just as you promised me during your previous… correction session.”

[Mjølner]

Frank flinched a bit as the girl asked him about his grades. " Uhm...well...t-they`re decent enough...I guess." he stated as he nervously ran a hand through his brown hair. " How are yours?" he asked, in an attempt to stop her from asking more about his abysmal grades.

“Stop right now” Maeve commanded. “My grades are great. You know it. They always are.”
She looked at Frank with a stern expression on her face.
“You know that I will inspect your grades anyway. You had three years to learn that I always fulfill my mentor duty. So? What is ‘decent enough’ for you?”

[Mjølner]

Frank gulped as she looked at him with a stern expression. " Uhm...well...I...got a D in Politics...that`s kinda good, right?" he said as he gave the girl a sheepish grin. " So I`m doing fine...no need to inspect them..." he added as he chuckled nervously. He had done good in gym, and history and decent in politics, but he had failed the rest. He was hoping she wouldn`t go through with what she said.

“Kinda good, yeah. And you kinda won’t be punished for that” Maeve smiled back.
Frank had every reason to fear. For previous couple of years she proved herself as a rather strict mentor. She still thought that Frank’s grades could be a lot better if she is more severe with him. Unfortunately there were rules she couldn’t ignore, and by these rules she could spank him only for a grades below his average.
“You should practice on lying” she said. “I can read your grades on your face, you know. Fine, don’t bother to show me your results. I’ll simply go to the campus and see them by myself. If you really is doing so great, you have nothing to worry about. Otherwise…”
Maeve paused and thought that she’s enjoying it too much.
“Otherwise when I return to my room I want you to wait for me – and your punishment, of course.”
She did couple of steps and then shouted so Frank – and all other students – will hear her.
“And ask my roommate to take a walk. A long one, I guess, judging by expression on your face .”

Franks sheepish smiled faltered into a sigh as Maeve said that she could see that he was indeed lying. " Yes, ma`m..." he said softly as she told him to go to her room. He muttered angrily under his breath as she talked so loud that the other students could hear her. When he arrived at her dorm room he gently told her room mate Mandy to take a long walk around a nearby lake, as he said he had something to talk to Maeve about. Mandy did just that and soon Frank was alone in Maeves dorm room. He was feeling nervous again, as he hoped she wouldn`t be too mad with him.

Maeve knew Frank is waiting for her. He rarely refused to obey since she acted by the rules. So stubbornness, outbursts, rebels only earned him additional penalties.
His grades were awful. No surprise he tried to lie about them. Maeve didn’t admit it to herself, but she was glad Frank did so poorly. She liked the spanking pert of her mentor role very much although she would never admit it.
She’s met Mandy near the dorm and they had a little chat. Maeve didn’t hurry to let Frank some time to think about what he is going to get. She, of course, told what she’s up to her roommate.
Then Maeve finally entered her room.
“Care to explain, what part of your grades gave you the idea that you’re doing fine? Oh, you’re such oin trouble, Frank.”

Frank shivered when she entered her room. " I...I did ok in three subjects..." he said softly, but he knew that it was a very thin excuse for failing the rest of his classes. " Please don`t punish me, Maeve..." he pleaded. " I promise I won`t slack off anymore..." he added as he hoped she would listen to his begging, but he knew that she most porbably would not, as she was rather strict.
