Eleven year old Rafe Faolan had no idea where exactly he was but he knew that he wasn't home. What had happened was something of a blur, all he recalled was being with a group of his friends one minute and the next he was waking up surrounded by strangers.

In a place that he didn't recognize.

"What the hell is even going on?!" he sort of exclaimed, looking around with a confused look in his blue eyes, his messy mahogany hair falling over one eye. Reaching up he brushed back one of the reddish brown strands as he once again tried to remember what had happened.

How had he ended up like this?

Alma Fisher was standing on a small train station trying to find "her" child. She agreed to take one of those poor London kids, who were sent away because of the bombing. It should be the boy, but the papers were lost on the way, so she didn't know his name or how he looks. Other people who were taking kids in seemed to succeed in finding the right child. But it took quite a time from Alma. She was beautiful red-headed woman in her 30's who didn't see no use in rush and hurrying. So she waited until there was the only kid left. A boy with too much hair on his head. "Ah, you must be the one," Alma said. "You will live with me. I am Alma Fisher. And what is your name?"

Rafe was sort of lost..okay he was really lost and had no idea where he was or how he'd ended up at a train station. Actually he was sort of shocked to find out that people still used trains as transportation, he'd thought that outdated but this station was sort of crowded. Blinking the boy watched as others came and went, his surprise only increasing as some woman came up to him and said that he'd be living with her.

That caused Rafe to blink a few times before he shook his head. "Name's Rafe and I think you're off your rocker, I'm not living with you." As he said that he made a shooing motion with his hand, trying to wave her away so he could go back to trying to figure out what was going on.

"Of course you are. There's no one left, but you and me," Alma said. The boy seemed to be rude, but she thought that he was just tired with the road. "You can't return anyway," she said, coming closer to boy. "So it's just the right time for us to be friends. Come, we have a long road ahead. And don't be scared. There are no Nazis here, in our quiet county.

Rafe shook his head again when the woman said that there wasn't anyone left, having no clue what it was that she was even talking about. "Look lady, I don't know what nut house you escaped from but I'm not going with you," he said before blinking when she mentioned Nazis.

Seriously?

The boy looked at her for a moment as though she had completely lost her mind before he slowly asked, "What year is it?"

Alma pursed her lips. She didn't like the attitude the boy was giving. Those London kids are so spoiled. No surprise they are spanked so often in private schools. There should be the only way to make them better.
"It is 1942," Alma said coldly. "I understand that you may be scared and tired, Rafe, but drop that attitude of yours. I am not going to tolerate it any more. Children here are well-behaved and quiet. And they never offend adults. You better don't too."

Rafe could tell that he was annoying the woman but he didn't much care, as far as he was concerned that wasn't his problem. Right now he had one pressing issue and that was finding out just what year it was so he asked that question, the kid gaping once again when he heard the answer. "There is no way in all the seven hells that's right... It's 2014..." Rafe said, snapping out the first part and then looking around as he said the second part.

Alma said really stern "Quit that game of yours. And no swearing. It is forbidden. Gosh, they really should ask if the rudeness is tolerated when they find home s for those poor children..." She looked around with Rage. "No luggage, as I see? Well, that's fine. We'll find something appropriate for you for sure. Let's go." Alma put her hand out to Rage. The horse was waited for them near the station.

"It's not a game," Rafe said, shaking his head slightly as he glared at her. He had no idea what was going on but he definitely didn't like it and the look on his face should make that pretty evident. When she mentioned finding something appropriate for him to wear he looked down at the jeans and t-shirt that he was wearing and shook his head. "I already told you I'm not going anywhere with you so just go away already," Rafe told her, his tone coming out as something of a growl.

"Well you have nowhere to go," shrugged Alma. She felt a little bad. After all the boy left his home and his parents...But it didn't give him any right to behave like that. "You'll return when it is safe. Until that you will live here and you will behave," she said. Finally Alma lost her temper. She took boy's hand and dragged him to a small carriage with two black horses. "We''ll be home soon," she said. "And I hope by that time the changeling I''ve got would turn into a nice child I was promised to get."
