Holy Grail War (Broken Saint)

A silent, abandoned church in Notre Dame would normally give people a chill of fear up someone's spine. But not the sole person who walked into the church multiple times with a book in hand. Not Violet Shadow, only child to a slowly dying family of magicians. The young woman had everything needed in a tight circle, preparing to preform a summoning. She was going to summon a Servant. To enter the war. For the Holy Grail.

"I won't let you down father." she muttered. She was roughly 15 of age and was 4'3, but her strict, mature personality made other believe she was older. Her purple hair was long enough to reach mid-back and her eyes were a piercing red. She wore a white robe with a black four-leaf clover on it, the one proud symbol of her family.

It has been a long time since the last Grail War, 120 years to be precise, and only a couple of weeks ago the Mage Association finally recreated the Holy Grail. Like with previous wars the seven masters would be chosen at random and it is up to these chosen master to either summon a servant of their own or found somebody willing to accept the rights from them. There isn't alot of description needed except for the last servant standing is the overall winner for themself and their master.

The preparations have been perfectly set up and as Violet began to read the chant written in the book a blue circle appeared on the floor. The atmosphere began to feel different as a bright blue light was shooting out of the circle at a fiery rate before everything inside the circle began the same blue as the line itself. Moments after the circle was consumed by blueness a person began to come out of the floor of this circle. This person appears to be sixteen odd years old with a 5'1 height. This woman was wearing some kind of armour while in her right hand is some kind of sword...the female was clearly a Saber servant, one of the strongest classes around.

"I ask of you..." the blonde swordswoman started as the blue circle disappeared leaving the servant standing in front of this fourteen year old. "Are you my master?" sure Violet doesn't look all too impressive but the appearence of the master doesn't mater to this Saber, since all she wants is the Grail and doesn't mind who she is partnered up with.

"Indeed, I am." Violet stated with great sternness, "I am Violet Shadow. And you must be of the Saber Class, correct?" Violet examined the girl, she looked like a paladin of some sort from the stories she read. Saber was supposedly one of the strongest classes, so this brought a smirk to Violet's face, which quickly vanished.

"Anyway, Saber." addressed the Master, "You must be aware of the Holy Grail War, correct? Because I-we-are going to win this war. There is no place for failure here."

Saber noticed the amount of sternness in her voice, guessing that the child is trying to sound tough because she was standing in front of a someone so powerful. But the blonde gave a light nod to the girl after hearing her introduction and question "you are correct." She was indeed a female paladin and she did notice the smirk, even though it was only there momentary, but after hearing the question Saber felt partly offended.

"I am aware of the Holy Grail War," the female answered her Master, managing to keep her feelings hidden. "There won't be any failure, Master, for with my sword in my hand we will win this war..." moments after saying her words the servant glanced away for a second, thinking deeply about something, before looking back to her Master. "Normally it would be required, as a servant, for me to tell you my name...but I've unfortunately lost my memory of who I was...so please pardon this slight break from tradition," Saber admitted while managing to not express the embarrassment she personally felt towards forgetting her past.

"Well then, until you remember, or at least when you find a suitable name, you'll be addressed as Saber." Violet had said, as she turned towards the door, "Let it be none that my name is Violet Shadow." Violet didn't expect her to know the name, let alone care since her family is close to extinction, not to mention being the butt of everyone's joke. That thought made her fist tighten with anger as she turned to the door.

"And now, we retreat for the moment. We'll wait for the other Servants to manifest before going to fight. We will not deliver the first attack. We will wait for our enemies to reveal themselves before striking." With that, she headed towards the door.

"Yes Master," Saber said with a nod to Violet's suggestion of the servant being addressed by her class while her master turned towards the doorway. She noticed that her Master's hands have tightened into fists as she turned to the door but didn't think much about it as the servant overheard her Master's introduction. "I am honoured that you've told me your name, Master, but unless you command it...all I can call you is 'Master'," Saber admitted with a faint smile, believing that her Master is a nice person from that one introduction.

"So that is your plan?" Saber decided to curiously ask Violet after hearing her words, following her towards the door "wait until we know who our enemies are before attacking...quite a smart move. You must have made your father proud of you," the blonde said, not knowing anything about Violet's family.

"I-I'm sure he was." Violet's voice had faltered from the mentioning of her father, who had died recently in a car crash. With her mother constantly away, the teen was in the care of herself. She put the hood of her robe over her head as she walked towards the door of the church, opening it to the bone chilling, snowy night.

"There's no point to us being here. Lets go before someone gets the same idea." Her voice was much darker than before as she walked outside. She tried not to hint her dark emotions, but it was clear that she was sad, and possibly a bit angry.

Saber noticed the slight falter in Violet's voice when her father was mentioned and began to feel curious. "She is quite young for a Master...but she did manage to summon me so she has a great amount of magic...but could her inexperience in summoning be the course of my memory lost?" The servant remained in her armour as the church door was open, seemingly not acknowledging the coldness of this night.

While exiting the church Saber noticed the change of tone in Violet's voice. It was dark, sad and a bit angry...almost as if she is motivated by a tragedy. "I know that I'm probably being too nosy...but what is your motivation for winning this war, Master?" Before Violet could say anything the blonde continued to speak "Masters aren't chosen by random...the Grail only chooses those who wants the Grail...so, after we win this war, what will your wish be?" Saber knew she was probably being too nosy but the servant mentally predicted that Violet would use the Grail to probably ease some of her anger away.

At the first mention of her motivation, Violet was ready to lash out, but quickly restrained herself as she bit her lip. "I want the Grail. Not for the sake of the wish, but to prove my family isn't as weak as it's been said to be." She took a deep breath, "My family has always been said to be the lowest of the low in the field of magic. The 'Shadow' name is one dragged through mud."

"It use to be a large family, but over the years, it's slowly been dying out. There's only so few people left in my family..." She hesitated to continue speaking, her voice laced with sorrow. "I won't matter what my wish will be when I win this war."

The servant was surprised when her Master appeared to be ready to lash out at her but instead bit her own lip. The blonde kept quiet and listened to Violet's first set of words while walking along with her. People might find it wierd for someone so young o be out at night with a swordswoman but that meant nout to Saber as partly felt sorry for how her 'Shadow name is one dragged through mud.'

Saber continued to remain quiet but was clearly listening to her Master's words, perfectly alright if Violet wanted to stop at any moment. After hearing all of Violet's words the blonde's left hand moved out and rested itself across Miss Shadow's shoulder, like a friend would do to another friend, the sorrow in her voice not lost on Saber. "That sounds quite sweet..." the servant simply said before momentarily glancing towards the sky "so for the sake of your entire family, and my True Incarnation, we will win this war...right?" A proper smile appeared on Saber's face after saying those words to Violet.
