Darkness Becons ( for Frogboy201)
The air on this side of town always seemed to have the scent of stale garbage lingering about, that's what kept out the regular people. The only ones kicking around over here were defnitely up to no good, that or they were down on their luck, but the regulars never could tell the difference anyway. Nadeine tucked herself deeper into the doorway she was lurking in, trying to become invisible, this wiorked fairly well for her since she was a slight, rather short girl of eleven, nobody ever saw her which was forunate for her because she was a pickpoket by trade. The large stones of the nearby wall were cold, night had fallen long ago and they had lost all their heat to the air, not that the sun graced these back alleys much regardless. Her dark eyes darted from side to side as she strained to see anything, everything, there were streetlamps around but the city never did bother having the ones around here tended to, the bulbs has probably been burnt out or stolen for over 20 years, or at least 4 which was as many as Nadiene could remember. That's how long she'd lived on the streets, four years, four years of hiding in doorways, living in alleys and warehouses, stealing to get by and generally being the thing least tolerated by society, a symbol of its failure.
When she didn't see anything she began moving again, darting down the empty street, she'd thought she'd heard someone or something following her but she shrugged it off now, nothing had shown up, it was probably just the product of being constantly worried about being caught, arrested or jumped. Tonight she was on her way home with a crust of bread and a few pieces or fruit she'd knicked from the neglected baskets of market-goers during the day as well as a couple of wallets swiped from the drunkards that came staggering put of bars at this time of night, all in all it wasn't a bad day of being a theif. 'Home' was a condemned building that was just around the corner but when she rounded said corner she saw a mysterious figure standing there, she couldn't make out much in this light but what was clear was that he, it looked like a he anyway, was turned away from her. Staying as quite as a mouse she crept behind a dumpster to get a better look.
