A Quick Question
Hello All,
With Bagool's permission/blessing, I have been slowly working on an MV port of Spankquest I. It will be a fairly straightforward redo of the original, although Bagool said I could change and/or add things to it. I will not be copying any of the scenes Banjo created in his DX version. With that all being said - I have an extra scene with Red Valley's Guard Captain Shilva planned. Do people care about having the characters walk back to the guardhouse, or would they just like a fade out /fade in into Shilva's office.
The reason I'm asking is that both methods are used in the original - Getting Elizabeth to her room at the Inn is done in an instant, but escorting Bianca to your house requires going the entire route.
I await your feedback....

There's more anticipation if you have to work or wait for something.
So a walk back is probably best in my opinion.

Is the player doing the walking, or is it a cut scene, where the player doesn't have any control? If it's the player doing the walking, that's probably fine. A cut scene would be rather boring in my opinion. RPG maker sprites aren't exactly exciting to watch.

I had no idea someone was doing this!
Personally, I dislike MV's graphics style, but if there is demand I would be willing to look at porting SQDX to the MV *engine* at some point, though I don't really see the benefit.
I'm rather interested why someone would want to play (not make) a game on MV over VXA?

remo1, aka, and giant 432 - thank you for your replies.
Banjo, I play MV games because using both a mouse and keyboard in a game comes naturally to me. Also the first AOTK games I tried were MV games. The graphics are not as important as the game(play) - which is why I still have and play Pocket Tanks on my computer. Even in Spankquest DX, I still find myself grabbing the mouse to move my character out of habit now and then. I don't hate/dislike non MV RPGMaker games, if I like them, I'll play them just as much. (Eagerly awaiting your next update).
I hope this helps answer your question.

Thanks, I was genuinely curious. I can see wanting to use the newer engine to make a game, but I couldn't see any reason to favor playing a game in MV over VXA, since graphics aren't dependent on the engine (people just tend to use the default, which is why most MV games look the same, most VX games look the same, but there's no reason you can't use VXA graphics in MV, which is what I'd do if I made my own game from scratch, most likely). Plugins and scripting means that there is very little you can't do in VXA that you can in MV, and vice versa... it just takes a bit more work sometimes. For example, MV outputs a bigger graphics window than VXA by default... but SQDX can now be set to do so too as of the last update.
Incidentally, SQDX will have mouse support either next update or the one after that. I think it was your post (or someone else's in my thread) that made me look into that and figure out it was possible, just tricky.

Also Bajo, at least for me, on MV you can speed up the scenes if you want, I like that functionality

Do you mean differently from how you can on VX Ace? On VXA, you hold down shift (by default) to fast-forward through dialog.

You can fast forward everything in MV by holding down the left mouse button.
