Space Dangers (w/ LittleSayuri)

A smuggler sits in front of his many screens, hour after hour monitoring traffic, movements of police, communication between their ships. Parts of space around planets and major stations are the worst.
One nosy officer and there goes his cargo, ship, and most likely, life as well. All the law in these parts makes his hair stand.

But not for much longer. He engages FTL drive and sets up a jump to slightly more lawless part of space. Not that pirates aren´t a problem, but it´s much simpler with them. Worst case scenario, he can always pay or shoot his way out.
Just a few seconds of really weird feeling, as if he was getting spread across a wall with a huge butterknife, and he´s out of the reach of evil hands of law. Finally, he can relax, play some music and wait for FTL to prepare for next jump. Nothing much do to in between.

The pilot cabin is one of the few places on the ship that aren´t full of cargo and engines. He paid a lot to get this job, so he might as well take as much stuff as possible.
Drugs and weapons for a little gang struggling with the law on one of the station near the borders of known space.
He can already see the payday. He´ll buy a whole moon.

Not far away in a much smaller ship, a young girl stares at her screens. She heard something, and she saw something as well, she knew that! So she started searching for the unknown intruder. She was pretty sure it was a ship after all... And unknown ships meant trouble, that was for sure.

Brushing her long curly brown hair over her shoulder, the young woman jumps from her chair to get a better view through one of her windows. Nothing. Hm. Frustrated, she banged her fist against the wall and turns around, to look through another window, nervously already.

A loud thunder could be heard and she felt her ship wobbling slightly before it becomes calm again. "God dammit, what the hell is going on?!", she mumbled to herself and glanced outside. Then, she saw it. Another ship was flying into her direction! "Shit...", she hissed, went back to her captains chair and starts touching a few buttons in an attempt to flee. She knew the other ship was much bigger and so she had not that much of a chance!

Nothing much to do, apart from an alarm that sounds in the cabin. "No no no!" He quickly turns back, and there it is, on his radar, and also visible in plain sight. Small ship. Suddenly, he misses the lawful parts of space, where he could just ignore such a thing.
But just for a moment. Pirates use lookouts all the time, and this is most likely one of them. If he lets the ship escape, he´s going to get attacked and boarded within an hour. Why must always something go wrong? He hides his face in his hands for a moment, but there is no time to lose. Time to kill or be killed. He tries to justify it, as he activates the weapons, but somehow it doesn´t work.

"Transport to small vessel. Stop moving or get destroyed."
Smuggler sends out a message on all the possible frequencies. At the very least, he can warn them. He fires a short volley, making sure it goes way too far from the ship. This is not the day to start killing people.
"This was a warning, next one won´t miss." In the meantime, he tries to figure out a way out of this. Generally, he doesn´t have anything against piracy, unless it´s targeted specifically at him. He could make sure the ship stays here until his FTL is recharged, then bugger off real quick, before pirates can make their move.
Or...there´s a greedy glint in his eye. His transport is big enough to take the ship. Why not sell it somewhere, send the pirate on his way in a rescue pod. That´ll teach them to post lookouts. He can always make some extra money out of pirates, right? It´s only fair, they would make money out of him, if they had a chance.

The pirate was about to activate her power boost, but then she heard the warning and her ship started wobbling again. "The next one won't miss...", she mumbled and banged her fist at the arm of her chair. Shit... shit shit shit! She looked around in her ship for something useful, but she had not that much of a chance at all. If she would flee, he would shoot her. Well, if he was really good at aiming after all...who said he didn't miss?
But his ship was much bigger and had better weapons than hers and somehow she was sure he wouldn't miss if she wanted to flee...if she would stay, she could at least survive maybe... Who knew what he was up to?

Oh good, the pirate´s not trying to escape. He smiles, already looking up approximate prize for the ship. But pirates are canny bastards, who knows what the guy will try do to, once he makes him land. Problem is, there are no readily usable weapons on board. He doesn´t dare take one, after that time he got drunk after six months alone in space and woke up with a gun in his hand.
"Alright, pirate...now you´re gonna deactivate all your weapons and slowly land in my ship. I´m keeping the guns on you, so don´t try anything stupid. I really don´t want to kill you, but I like myself more than I like you." Even as he says it, he realizes how stupid it sounds. God, he needs more contact with people. Next stop, he will take on some criminals on the run from justice or something.

The woman looked at her screen and listened to the voice. She rolled her eyes as he told her that he was still making sure she wouldn't do anything stupid, and that he liked his life more than hers. Well, thanks Captain Obvious, she thought and landed her ship securely in the other one's after deactivating all her weapons.

It wasn't as if she couldn't get a new ship, but this one was something special to her. She lived in it for quite some time now and it became her home, so to speak.

Once she landed and switched everything off, she stood up from her captains chair and walked over to the door. Maybe he would shoot her now, who knew? She decided to wait until her asked her to come out.

Once the ship starts to dock, he runs all the way through his own ship to cargo storage, cracks open one of the gun crates. "Shit, rocket launcher? No way..." Who needs a rocket launcher on a space station anyway? This is some shady deal he got himself into. No time to think about that, pirate almost docked. Another crate, finally something smaller. "Ammo, ammo, ammo...where the hell is the bloody ammo?" Apparently in a completely different crate, that he doesn´t have time to look for. Hopefully, he won´t have to fire a warning shot. He would have to throw it instead. Ship docked. Crazy sprint to the docking area, couple seconds to catch his breath.
"Hey! You there! Come out! Unarmed, if at all possible." And now an idea occurs to him. How many pirates do fit in a ship this size? He aims his empty gun on the door. Now that he thinks about it, maybe he should have destroyed the ship after all...

Once she arrived at the ship, the woman looked out of the window to check the surroundings. Hm. Just one man? In a ship that big? Well maybe others were hiding somewhere, who knew? Well, unarmed he said, hm. She put all the weapons on the ground but remembered a small knife in one of her boots, he didn't need to know that at all.

Then, she took a deep breath and opens the door, stepping into the light. Blinking, the woman walked down to the man, hands in the air to show she wasn't carrying any weapons. "Happy now, asshole?", she wanted to know and smiled cheekily.

Only one girl gets out of the ship. Might be a trap, might not. It´s not like he can do anything about it at this point anyway. If it is, he will find out soon enough.
"Oh yeah, very." He grins. "It´s not every day honest trader like me captures a pirate. Usually it´s the other way around. So, where´s the rest of your crew?" And another question proposes itself, when he takes a closer look at the girl. "And how old are you? I always thought pirates where...you know, hardened criminals that looked the part." Not that there couldn´t be badass cute girls that would cut him open as soon as look at him. He slowly circles her, so he´s at her back. "Walk toward the door. No quick moves." Or I´ll throw the gun at you. He manages not to say the last part loud.

"A honest trader wouldn't capture other people's ships without a good reason. And only because I am pirate, isn't a good reason at all", she told him annoyed. "You don't have to know about where my crew is at all", she answered and looked up at him. Damn it, he was big and surely stronger than her. Her knife wouldn't help much..yet... Besides he had a gun. "Old enough. Why do you care how old I am. You should care how fast and deadly I can be, right?", she asked him and looked at him defiantly. As he walks around her, she felt uncomfortable, but resists the urge to take a look over her shoulder. "Asshole...", she mutters and starts walking to the door slowly.
