Skeleton Tales (LyonGirl)
The War had decimated the ranks of the monsters, almost to negligible numbers. It was no surprise they lost the war, and were forced underground with the Barrier keeping them in place. The Royal Scientist had been charged with the task of obtaining freedom, as well as sorting out ways to power the Underground. They need power, and whatever technology they salvaged from the humans needed to be used to the best of its ability. W.D Gaster was losing his mind down here, working tirelessly to find ways to break free to the surface. They had discovered that they needed several human souls to break the Barrier, and they currently had two.
He had been experimenting with the powers the Souls had, and had given rise to two creations using the bones from his hands and pieces of soul. It had given the fragments life, though sheer determination. Gaster had made first one, Sans, and the second, Papyrus. Skeletons, just like him. He decided it was easier to call them his sons, which is what they were. And they were loud. Children were not something Gaster was accustomed to, but he tried his best. Right now though, he was at his desk listening to the bangs coming from his sons in the background. With a sigh, he stood up and opened the door to his office. “Boys! Keep it down!”

Papyrus stomped his foot hard in annoyance with his older brother. "Sans! You lazy bones! You're so lazy, you can't even play the game right! You haven't followed any rules of the game whatsoever!"
Sans looked at his brother with his usual grin and shrugged. "Can you blame me bro, I'm just so "Bone" tired right now..."
"Tired from what?! You haven't done anything all day except sleep all day!" Papyrus huffed, his brother could be so impossible to work with at times. He was always so lazy and making those awful puns! "Sans! Are you even listening to me!!" Papyrus stoped his yelling when he heard his father and huffed. "Father!! Sans won't play the games right! Come and make him play properly!"
Sans shrugged. "I guess playing these games isn't in my bones."
"Stop it!!"

Gaster groaned into his hands, muttering under his breath as he headed into the other room to break up the fight that was brewing between the two brothers. Or at least stop Papyrus from having a tantrum.
"Papyrus, what is going on?" He asked, resting a bony hand on the young skeleton's skull. The younger of the two tended to work himself up into such states.
"I see...well, Papyrus if your brother doesn't want to play this game, then perhaps finding a game you both like would be better served." Gaster said reasonably, looking to Sans with an unamused expression. "And you, could you put a little effort in watching Papyrus until I finish working?" He asked with a sigh, thinking back to all the schematics for the Core he had been drawing.

He didn't want to play games? "But father, he never wants to play any games! All he ever wants to do is...that!" He said motioning to Sans who still hadn't moved from from his relaxed position on the floor. Though, his father was right, maybe they could find something else to do.
Sans looked back at his dad with his usual grin and shrugged. "In my defense dad, I am watching him. He hasn't left his spot all day. You're welcome dad."
Papyrus frowned some. "Hmph! Sans, you never do anything. I'll have to come up with a game that's so mentally challenging, you'll have no choice but to participate."
Sans nodded. "My bones are rattling with excitement Paps."
Papyrus nodded, a twinkle of determination in his eye sockets, and headed off to a table to think of the most mind challenging game!
Sans watched him go and looked at his father. "Well dad, that'll keep him busy for an hour. You're welcome, again."

Gaster rolled his eyes sockets, shaking his head. "You know, if you'd actively participate instead of lazing on the floor, I wouldn't have to come out here every hour to calm Papyrus down." He pointed out, though he appreciated Sans keeping the hyperactive skeleton occupied so he could get a little bit of work done.
"Just maybe tone down the puns, okay Sans? I don't want to repeat of last time with Papyrus trying to smother you." Gaster added, before turning and returning to his office. He just hoped nothing ended up broken. With Sans' and Papyrus' magic developing, rogue bones were wont to fly through walls and various surfaces. Sometimes if tempers got too heated, destruction soon followed suit.

Sans chuckled some. "How do you even smother a skeleton, dad?" He sat up some and sighed. "But okay, okay. I'll play his game this time so that he won't have a fit...again, I swear...though I can't guarantee I won't make any more puns, you know I can be a real funny bone sometimes." A loud groan could be heard as Papy sent his brother an annoyed glare, but continued out to think about the game he would make for his brother to play with him.
Sans looked over at his dad as he left before turning to his brother to see what he was up to. He walked over to peek at what he was doing and all he was doing really was just...drawing out his game plan to actually make the game. It was adorable really, but Sans was getting pretty hungry. "Hey, Papy...how about you and I play a game, I made up."
Papyrus gave his brother a skeptical look. "You created a game, for us to play?"
"Yeah, I just thought of it. Come on and let's go into the kitchen, it'll be fun~!"
Papyrus eyed his brother before beaming. "Alright then, but I will be the very best at this game and I will win!" He said and hurried off to the kitchen.

Gaster had gotten back to work, thankful for the momentary peace. Momentary. About fifteen minutes later, there was a bang and a bone shot through his study wall. Gaster raised an unimpressed brow, standing up with a groan. "I swear..." He muttered, tugging it lose and summoning his magic to repair the damage. "I've warned them not to use magic in the house..." The tall skeleton grumbled, before heading in search of his two miscreant children.
They were in the kitchen, of course. And there souls were lit up to help the magic flowing out of them. Gaster crossed his arms and cleared his throat. "I thought we said there was no to be no magic in the house, unless there was an emergency." He said sharply, studying to two boys in front of him. "Eating lunch does not qualify as an emergency." The royal scientist looked from Sans to Papyrus with a stern expression.
"You two sent this," He held up the bone. "Through my wall. If you're not careful, you could easily hurt yourselves!" Gaster lectured, before reaching out and taking ahold of each little wrist.

Sans watched his little brother and chuckled as he tried to use his magic to get the cookies off the top of the refrigerator. "Come on Paps, you're almost there. You almost got it, don't give up."
Papyrus huffed and shot a look at his brother. "I'm not giving up, but why don't you help me, I know you could!" Sans shrugged at his brother. "Can't my magic is full." He said as he looked over at the flying ingredients for his sandwich made itself.
"Oh that you could do, but you can't play a single game right with me!"
"Hey, I did play a game right with you, the quiet game, right?"
"You were asleep, it doesn't count!" Papy said. It seemed as though he was working himself up again as he watched his brother. "Don't be like that Papy, you could get the cookies if you really wanted to."
Papy frowned. "DO you think that I don't? I'm trying my best!!" He said as he made a bone. "If I can't make it float...then I'll just knock it down." He smiled and sent a bone in the direction of the cookies, but...it wasn't like it was very effective.
"Woah, bummer...maybe you should hit it a little harder."
Papyrus groaned and sent another one and another one, though he was sure their father had put some sort of magic on it!
"Oh come on Papy, you can do better than that." Sans wasn't trying to come off as a jerk, it was mainly just the sound of his voice, but Papyrus was absolutely not standing for it. "Will you just SHUT UP!!" He yelled and sent a bone flying!
Sans and Papy both looked off in the direction of the bone and became wide eyed. "Paps! Right into dad's study!"
Papyrus' whimpered some. "Oh no, we're going to be in so much trouble! Father is going to be so upset with us." The two had to come up with some sort of a plan, but it wasn't as if they had time to think when Gaster came out of his office looking less than pleased.
The two couldn't really say much as they were scolded over the bone and as any worried children simply stood there quietly. When their wrists were grabbed, Papyrus quickly looked up. "W-wait, father don't be mad. It was an accident. A series of unfortunate events. It won't happen again." Papyrus said quickly as if saying that would get them out of trouble.
Sans looked to his little brother and his worried expression and turned to look at their father. "Dad..d-don't be mad, at least not at Papy, it was my fault it happened, not his."

They had wanted cookies. Of course, all this was for a cookie. Gaster sighed internally, tempted just to go take a nap and forget about this. Who knew children were so bloody infuriating, not to mention lacking any sense of self-preservation.
Gaster looked down at his younger son, before sighing softly. "Papyrus, I'm not mad. I'm concerned that you didn't listen to what I had said previously. Magic can be extremely dangerous if you don't have complete control, especially when you're young." He said, pointedly looking to the runaway bone that had gone through his wall.
"I have warned you both numerous times not to use your magic unless I say it's okay, and yet here we are again. I intend to make sure that it does not happen again." Gaster said firmly, before looking to Sans. The older skeleton pleaded for his brother's case, as always. It was heartening to see the loyalty the boy had for his little sibling, and how much Papyrus adored Sans, but sometimes it led to situations like this. "Papyrus can make his own decisions, Sans. You are not responsible for his behavior, nor his he responsible for yours."
With that, Gaster pulled the two along behind him towards the couch in their living room. Both of his sons knew the routine, it wasn't the first time this had happened.
Skeletons had the innate ability to create physical limbs with magic, and it was one of the first things that they were taught when they started developing. Of course, limbs extended to any sort of body part that they lacked. In this case, Gaster expected his sons to cooperate by forming a little bottom to bear the brunt of their punishment. It wasn't like he could swat bone and expect not to do serious harm. Gaster stood Sans off to the side, tugging Papyrus to stand in front of him. "Come on Son, let us get this over with."

Sans looked down at the floor while he and his brother were lead towards the living room. It was always awful when their father got that way. He took their wrist, began to lecture them and lead them off to the closet room, a closed door depending on whether there were guest or not, either way, it meant the same thing someone was getting spanked...the worst part was always wondering who was going to be first.
Papy almost looked ready to cry just from the small lecture they were receiving. This was all his fault, if he hadn't lost his temper with Sans and got upset over not being able to get the cookies perhaps their father would have never known they were using their magic and they wouldn't be in this situation now. But why couldn't they use their magic? No one ever learned by not trying it, but he suppose his father had a point that they needed to be supervised or cause damage to their others or themselves. "I'm sorry father..."
Once they were in the living room there was the eerie silence as their father went on to decide who was to be first and sadly, Papy had gotten the short end of the stick. He whimpered some as he was made to stand in front of him, looking over to his brother and then their father. "D-do I have to?" He asked softly. "T-that would be...using my magic and you said, I shouldn't use it." Oh Papy, if only those rules applied at that very moment.
Sans really did feel bad that Papy had to go first, he was such a little guy and it was obvious he didn't want to go through with it. Sans just kept his gaze down, hoping his brother would just do it before he got in anymore trouble.
