Being a father is a tough task (for PassionateShadow)

It was almost noon when Cassidy parked in front of the building; he had tried to push for an early appointment, but the social worker he had spoken with on the phone had said that that was the only available at the moment.
Otherwise, he would have to wait for another week and he didn't want the kid to wait that longer... so he had accepted.

The man get out of his car, a huge Land Rover, all black and with leather seats, and he looked up toward the windows of the third floor.
Those were the Social Services offices and he knew that the boy was waiting in there, sitting in some boring room.

He grabbed a plastic bag from the back seat and then he walked toward the entrance, after closing up the car; inside the bag there was a brand new hoodie, flaming red with a black eagle on the front, and a matching baseball hat.
He didn't know what the kid liked yet, but when he had asked to the woman that was in charge of him at the moment what he could bring to him as a gift, she had only been capable of telling him that the teen liked to wear hoodies.

So Cassidy had opted for that, even if he was expecting him to refuse.
It was a possibility, he was used to deal with troubled teens, plus there would be plenty of time to discover the his tastes about clothing and all the rest.

More or less ten minutes later, finally the adult was walking inside a small waiting room, along with Debbie, the social worker that was following the case.
Cassidy was a really tall man and was aware that he could look a bit intimidating, especially with his beard and his wide shoulders, so he had decided to wear something comfortable, a pair of jeans and a blue sweater, leaving in the closet his dark suit.
He wanted the kid too trust him and looking like someone from Man in Black was not a good idea. He had also pushed his shades out of the way, up on his head, like a headband.

Once inside, while Debbie was closing the door behind them, he looked down at the young man that was already in the room and he put on a huge smile.
-Hi, kid.- he said, cheerfully, bending over a bit and stretching out his hand for him to shake it, if he wanted -I'm Cassidy. But you can call me Cass, like everyone else.-

The boy squirmed in his seat and shifted a leery blue gaze up at the hand that was offered and then up to Cassidy's face. He studied him for a few silent moment but made no move to shake his hand rather just looking at it like it was a tentacle and not a hand,

"Alright..." Came a some what disinterested tone form the youth.

"You can call me 'Trick'... " He stated in reply after several looong moments of painful silence from the youth he shifted with a heavy sigh and he tugged on an old dull back pack on to his shoulders and he pocketed his hands. " I suppose you've had your pick of the litter... I dunno why me but alright... " He murmured with a shrug giving the social worker a dirty look. The last time they met involved some hot coffee being spit.

The adult withdrew his hand once he realized that the teen was not going to shake it, but he didn't stop to smile at him.

On the other hand, when the boy introduced himself, Debbie rolled her eyes at the ceiling, letting out an irritated huff.
-That's not your name.- she said, clearly annoyed by his attitude -You shouldn't...-
She was interrupted by the man, who gave her a glance and lifted his hand to ask for silence, even if in a polite way.
-It's okay, Debbie.- he told her -If he want's to be called that way, i'm fine with it. I didn't like my name neither, when i was younger. It's no big deal.-

Said that, Cass looked down at the child once more, while he was picking up his backpack, clearly ready to go, and he suddenly felt sorry for him at his following words. He didn't have a lot of self esteeme, apparently.
-Well, they told me that you are a bit of a troublemaker.- he decided not to lie to him, shrugging -And i'm good with troublemakers, i was one myself, at your age. That's why i picked you.-

Anyway, after that unusual introduction, Cass exchanged a look with the woman and she nodded.
-All the papers are signed, you can take him home. I'll call you next week to schedule the first visit and to make sure that everything is fine.- she said, opening the door once more and stepping aside so they could walk out.
But before that hey could leave, she looked at Trick.
-Try to behave, this time.- was all she had to say to him.

Five minutes later, both the man and the boy were inside the elevator, going down to the ground floor and, at that point, Cassidy gave him the plastic bag.
-I don't know if this is the kind of thing that you like, but anyway...- he said, a bit unsure, while the elevator doors opened up, allowing to leave the building and to reach the car.

Trick managed to resist the urge to curse her out this time in the least and opted for silence. He wasn't so sure how he felt about being chosen because he was a trouble maker. He felt the urge to observe this man now; even more than usual.

As he was offered the bag Trick accepted it with a skeptical look and peered in side looking over it's contents.. He gave the man a questionable look. " thanks... " He actually offered some form of manners! He was a little cautious because no one gave him anything when they first met- at least not like this.

Cass smiled even more when the kid thanked him for the hoodie: it was a start.

-You're welcome. I'll take you to buy clothes and other stuff soon, anyway, so you'll be free to pick what you like.- he said, walking to his car and opening up the door on the passenger side of the vehicle, so he could climb inside the tall car -Now, is time for lunch and since home is almost two hours of driving from here, maybe we could stop somewhere to eat something. What about a pizza? Or a burger? What do you prefer?- he inquired, before getting inside too.

He started the car and they slowly began to move, leaving the parking lot and facing the city traffic a second later.

Cassidy opened up his window, so his left arm could rest halfway outside, in a very relaxed pose; he liked to drive and he was a good driver, so he was always feeling comfortable inside a car, enough to assume that laid back position.

Trick seems to be concerned though he perked up at the mention of food. He liked food. He liked it. A Lot. But Cassidy didn't need to know that yet. " What ever is fine iwth you I guess.." He said trying to play it off. This sounded a little stood good to be true on his part and he was a little weird out by it. " But... what's the catch?" rick asked. Looking over as he settle din to his seat . " Perhaps this guy was an 'expert'. He didn't like the idea of being some one's good little do boy so he was certainly on his toes at the moment. He busied himself with looking over the items he was gifted with perhaps some what finding it strange.

-Oh, i could eat a dead rat, if hungry enough.- the mas said, with a little laugh -I like food, i eat almost everything, but i must admit that i'm not a fan of fruit. My mom had tried to force me to eat some of it for years. She only gave up when i moved out for college.- he added, trying to chat a bit with the kid, glancing over at him to see his reaction -Anyway, i asked you. You're the guest of honor today, so you get to pick. What's your favorite food? You can ask for anything.- he went on, only stopping to speak for a second when Trick asked him his next question.

Cass waited a moment before answering him, to collect his thoughts.
-Well, i'm just hoping for a smile, maybe.- he then told him, sincerely -You look way too serious for someone of your age.-

Trick made such a face at hearing about eating a dead rat. " Ah well... I always wanted to try steak?" He suggested looking over perhaps testing the boundaries that Cass would go to try and impress him. He was going to tip toe around such a game though and play it safe. It would serve to let him know just what kinda man Cass actually was. " But I dunno any such places never really ate out much. " He explained.

-Very well, then let's have some steak.- Cassidy answered, with a cheerful voice, while the car started to go a little bit faster now -I know just the place.- she added.
And so, he took a the second road on the left.

Ten minutes later, they were walking inside a Steakhouse; the delicious smell of grilled meat filled up the air and the place was full of people.
The waitress, a very pretty blonde girl, guided them to a table in the corner and she left them the menu.

Cass started to look at it, watching over to the child from time to time.
-You can get all you want. Trick.- he told him -Desserts are great too, here.-

Trick quirked a brow at that and he looked over the Menu but his gaze shifted to all the macabre wall decorations and the old timely juke box by the front.

He looked at the menu and decided what he wanted. " Even booze~?" He asked turning murky blue eyes to Cass at that it was joke on his end but it couldn't hurt to see how the man responded when being solicited to get the youth some alcohol.
