Hinoka was shooed out of the infirmary by Sakura and Elise, both of whom insisted Corrin needed time to rest after their most recent battle. The eldest Hoshidan princess argued with the younger girls until Jakob showed up and chased her away rudely. Princess of not, his liege needed time to rest. Annoyed and worried, Hinoka returned to her chambers where Camilla was waiting, anxious to hear the news about Corrin.

"How is she?" the Nohrian princess asked, voice laced with concern.

"Getting better," Hinoka answered, taking a seat on the bed. She rubbed at her tired temples and laid back. "But I'm upset. I can't believe she'd do something so dumb! Putting herself in front of a Faceless's fist to rescue a cat of all things! How reckless can she be?"

Camilla smiled lightly and took a sip of the tea she'd been nursing. "I agree it was foolish, but... it was endearing, wasn't it?" A cold look from Hinoka silenced her immediately.

"Yes, yes, we all know Corrin is very sweet. But there's a limit, Camilla! We can't have her running around risking her life for stupid little reasons! If our mother, Queen Mikoto, was alive and saw one of us do something so idiotic she'd... she'd..."

That gave Hinoka an idea...

About a month later, a fully healed Corrin was summoned into her room after a long day to be face to face with Camilla and Hinoka, who were sitting on her bed. Upon seeing the familiar faces, the princess smiled softly.

“Oh Hinoka! Camilla! I received your message, is something the matter?” Corrin asked, approaching the duo mindlessly.

"Sit with us, Corrin," Hinoka said, pulling her over to join them. It was a tight squeeze with the three sisters all perched on the two-person bed, but none of them minded the physical proximity. Camilla, taking advantage of the situation, went right to work braiding Corrin's hair, which made Hinoka sigh. That was not what they were there for.

"Corrin..." Hinoka said, holding her hand out for Camilla to stop. "We brought you here to talk to you about what happened last month. Specifically the battle where you risked your life to save a cat and got horribly injured in the process. Can you tell us what you were thinking?"

Corrin simply nodded at the request and joined her sisters at the foot of her bed, turning to Hinoka who seemed to be doing the talking and paying no mind to Camilla who was playing with her hair as that was normal behavior for her.

It wasn’t until the question was asked that Corrin raised a eyebrow. It wasn’t like Hinoka to want a detailed report of her battle like this. And something about this was making her uneasy. However, she complied.

“You see, I had the battle won but that coward started attacking that defenseless animal. I couldn’t let him kill an innocent creature like that.” Corrin explain, keeping her hands folded in her lap.

"Oh Corrin," Hinoka sighed. She couldn't help but ruffle Corrin's hair affectionately a little. She knew it was a ridiculously childish thing to do to an adult, but commander or not, Corrin was still her little sister. "But, that's not entirely right, Corrin. We hadn't won the battle yet. There was still a mage left, so the Faceless were still being summoned. Saving the cat after you took him out would have been one thing, but charging in there when we were still under attack was quite another. You're lucky Percy was able to swoop down off his dragon and take him out!"

“Oh...” Corrin was not aware of all of that. She was so focused on what was happening in front of her that she didn’t notice the mage on the battlefield. Staring down at her feet in shame, the next question came to mind. “Was that the only reason you called me here?”

"No, Corrin," Hinoka said, shaking her head. She hesitated before saying her next piece but decided to go through with it anyway. "Corrin, I know you didn't know Mother well, but... she was very insistent about our safety. Not just when we were children, either. She kept a close eye on all of us, even Ryoma, until the day she died. I'm sure the others have told you how easygoing and quick to smile Mother was, but she did have a more serious side where her family was concerned. If one of us did something foolish that landed us in danger, she could be quite strict. One time, I went out to train with a sprained wrist and couldn't grip my horse's reigns correctly. I fell off her back, getting a concussion. Mother was so upset with my carelessness that she..." Hinoka trailed off, shuddering a little. She took note of the confusion on Corrin's face, so she decided to cut to the chase. "Anyway, when one of us did something reckless, Mother saw to it that we were punished, and soundly. And because she's not with us anymore, I think the most responsible thing I can do as your sister... would be to punish you in her stead."

Corrin felt her heart sink. Being royalty, she doesn’t recall ever being punished before. Except for maybe going to bed without desert or receiving ‘tickle punishments’ by Camilla. She was hoping to talk her way out of it but Hinoka’s stern expression left no room for arguments. “W-What kind of punishment?”

Hinoka's face went a little red, but she stood firm. "Mother usually punished us... with a spanking. Have you ever been spanked, Corrin?" She suspected she hadn't, but she supposed she didn't know how King Garon would have handled her discipline.
