[That_Guy_With_The_Fandoms]

For the majority of his academic career, Alex Field was pretty good at balancing responsibilities. For the past 3 years he managed to maintain straight A's in all classes, a part time job at the local museum, and a lovely 3 year relationship with his girlfriend, Gabriela. Since this was on his last semester of Uni, Alex decided to let himself have a little fun and join a gaming club. At first everything was great, he was making friends and playing games while keeping his grades in check. That was until the club added weekly tournaments to their schedule. It was all over for Alex as he was now more focused on his club rather than his classes. Alex's declining grades didn't bother him too much as he figured he would bring them back up by the end of the semester. That was until he got a pink envelope in his dorm room. Since his GPA had gotten to a 2.0, the university had kicked him out of his housing and was threatening him with expulsion. He still couldn't believe how bad things had gotten as he packed up the rest of his belongings in his van. Luckily he was able to stay at Gabriela's place until the end of the semester, however he knew she wasn't very happy about the situation.

Gabriela tossed some stir fry vegetables in a pan as Alex moved the last of his boxes into her apartment. She loved him, but she also loved her space, and she had hoped them living together would be a decision they made together in a bigger place. Not because he was kicked out of the university.

"Is that the last of it?" she asked, furrowing her brow at the space he was taking up. She prepared two bowls and handed him one as they sat on the couch. "What happens now?"

“Yes babe, that’s the last of it” Alex grunted as he carried a box of his things to his room. The young man sighed as he sat down on the couch to catch his breath. On the one hand he was happy that he and Gabriela would finally be living together. One the other he knew how upset she was about sharing her space.

He smiled softly and thanked Gabriela for the food before taking a bite “Well, it’s simple. I already left that club and I’ll start to be more serious about my school work.” He said before turning to her “Gabby, I just wanted to thank you again for letting me stay at your place. I know we both didn’t think this is how we’d start living together, but at least this can prepare us for when we both graduate.”

"If we both graduate." That sounded harsher than she wanted it to. But she was really disappointed. The gaming club had eaten into their personal time together and know it almost cost them more.

"Did you tell your folks?"

Alex winced as those words felt like a punch to the guts. He knew she had a point but this time he was determined on making things right to her. “I am going to graduate... and no, Im not going to tell them. There’s only 2 more months left in the semester, I can hold off on letting them know for now” he said as he finished his bowl and placed his dish in sink

“Thanks for the meal babe, it was great” Alex said, giving Gabriela a quick kiss on the cheek before cracking open his textbook.

Gabriella cleaned the dishes as Alex set about studying. He had a point, she thought, why involve parents if he thought he could turn it around. With only two months left he would have to work really hard.

Gabriella picked up her keys. "I picked up a half shift at the restaurant so ill be home around nine." She wrapped her arms around his shoulders. "Hit the books!"

Gabriella ledt for work.

“Alright, love you babe. Be safe!” Alex called out as she walked out the door. Alex poured through every page as he forced himself to study as much as he could. However, the college student found that much easier said than done as time went by.

Every half hour or so, something would distract him, the honking cars from the street, a notification on his phone, or even his racing mind. However, the thing that was distracting Alex the most was what Gabriela said.

He started to worry about whether she was right and if he could even get through this test let alone the next 2 months. The thoughts of failure and the shame of revealing this to his parents got Alex so riled up, that he didn’t even realize that it was already 9

"Hey babe," Gabriella cooed. "How far did you get?"

Gabriella wanted Alex to succeed and assumed that he would be pretty far in his textbook, she would even ask him some study questions if he wanted her help.

Alex snapped out of his daydream as he smiled back at Gabriela “Hey babe hope work was good” he smiled before frowning a little

“I’m actually still behind. My mind is racing with all this pressure to pass these classes. I’m honestly not sure if I can even get through this exam..” he sighed, letting his head fall on the open textbook

"Is the exam tomorrow?" Gabriella asked concerned. "You've barely even cracked it open!"
