Skyrim: Double Dragonborn (for Universeman)

Eir Blackshield was aware that calling this the most stressful day of her life would be understating things. Well, today and yesterday. Things had happened so quickly she'd barely had time to process them. A particularly drawn-out mammoth hunt had taken her from her camp in Falkreath to the nearby border to Cyrodiil. Nothing marked the border between the provinces but a standing stone, which she had unfortunately missed while keeping her eyes on the mammoth. As she was drawing her bow to strike, chaos had erupted around her in the form of a battle between the border guards and a Stormcloak brigade led by Ulfric himself. She was caught in the middle and, because she was armed, was quickly lumped in with the rebels, despite her honest admission that she had no sympathy for their cause. When trying to break free, she took a blow to the head from one of the soldiers, and remained unconscious for most of the carriage ride to the execution site, Helgen.

Pure dumb luck in the form of a dragon swooping down and burning the village to cinders had saved her from meeting her end on the chopping block with the Stormcloaks. After managing to get up, she escaped the town through the underground passage with an Imperial soldier, Hadvar. He'd nearly made it out, but tripped up when attempting to sneak past a grizzly bear guarding the cave exit, and had met with a gruesome end. From there, Eir was on her own. She was fortunate that Helgen was only a short distance from the village of Riverwood. Her fiancee, Camilla Valerius, lived there, operating the general store with her brother.

Camilla Valerius was frustrated beyond frustrated with her older brother Lucan. The other night there was a break-in in their store and apparently, one of Lucan's belongings was stolen, a dragon claw made from pure gold. However, Lucan was being stubborn as he was willing to let the bandits who stole the claw get away with it. The female Imperial offered to go and get the Golden Claw from the bandits except Lucan practically flipped out at the suggestion from his sister which she didn't like. Sure she wasn't any mercenary like the ones that travel Skyrim but she was sure she could handle some bandits and get back with no problem. The bickering between the two siblings was starting to gain attention from the other citizens of Riverwood.

Eir was still technically on the run from the Imperial Legion, and Whiterun Hold was Imperial territory. Consequently, she had to sneak into the village and into the Riverwood Trader through the hidden back entrance. She breathed a sigh of relief the second she was indoors and away from prying eyes. Hopefully she'd be able to take shelter here as long as she needed to for things to blow over.
It wasn't unusual for her to stay overnight, and consequently she had some clothes in Camilla's wardrobe, and even a set of armor and a sword in the basement. For the time being, she changed into a thick tunic and trousers, glad to be free from the rags the Imperials had left her in. While she was changing, the argument caught her attention. Clearly Camilla and Lucan were going at it again. She'd find out why momentarily.

"Well one of us has to do something." Camilla shouted at her brother not wanting bandits to walk over them and take their belongings, even though the claw was mostly Lucan's.

"I said No! No adventuring, no theatrics, no thief-chasing!" Lucan shouted back putting his foot down on the matter as he didn't want his younger sister rushing after the bandits who could cut her down without a second thought. Camilla then crossed her arms.

"Well, what are you going to do then, huh? Let's hear it!" Camilla questioned daring her brother to come up with some kind of plan.

"We are done talking about this!" Lucan ended the conversation while Camilla was still fuming as she decided to just walk away. She decided to go downstairs towards the basement to find something to calm herself down however she was shocked to see Eir in the basement.

"Eir! By the gods!" She praised as she rushes up to her lover and fiancee and embraces her. "What in name of the divines happened to you?" Camilla questioned as by looking at Eir's face she could tell that the Nord/Altmer has been through something serious.

"It's a long, long story," Eir admitted. She leaned against the wall to explain what she'd been through over the past day. She couldn't read Camilla's face when she told her about the dragon, but she was expecting skepticism. "I swear it's true. A dragon came down from the sky and set off a shout that turned the clouds black. Then it burned the village to the ground. As far as I know, only I got out."

Camilla could swear that Eir was probably going mad. Taken by Imperials Legionaiires and sentenced to death in Helgen, which was burned down to the ground by a dragon. The same species that were killed off several lifetimes ago and were said to be the harbinger of the Endtimes. However, considering that Sven's mother claimed to have seen a dragon earlier flying over the barrow and the fact that Eir had never given Camilla any reason not to believe her the Imperial nodded her head. "I don't know why but I believe you. But that doesn't sound good. Things are just going from bad to worst. From the civil war, and now dragons. "Well you are more than welcome to stay here for as long as you want and while you're at it maybe you can talk some sense into my pig-headed brother." Camilla commented.

Eir took Camilla's offer to stay as an offer to collapse onto the nearest bedroll. Now that the adrenaline had worn off, she realized how tired she was. Not to mention sore. The jump from the guard tower down through the inn and onto the ground she'd made while trying to escape had been intense. "I don't blame you for being skeptical, love," she assured her. I'm sure it's as much a shock to hear about a dragon attack as it was to see. But I promise you, I wasn't imagining it. The dragon was real. It was as big as the inn! And now it's just... gone. It worries me."

Eir folded her arms and regarded the ceiling. She was about to drag herself up to relocate to Camilla's bed, which would be easier on her sore muscles, but paused when Camilla said her piece. "You want me to talk some sense into Lucan? Why? What's gotten into him?" It was typical for Lucan and Camilla to argue, sometimes for days on end. Usually it was about the Trader, but it had been about personal matters in the past.

"Well you see my love, we had a break-in a few days ago here in the shop during the night and after taking inventory the next morning eventually we found out that something that Lucan had possession of was stolen by bandits however he hasn't done anything to go and get his belonging back. No hiring any mercenaries or anything like that. I've offered to go and get it back and he went off the rails. He is willing to let those bandits walk over him and not do anything to get his belongings back." Camilla explained to Eir hoping her fiancé would be able to change her brother's mind and allow her to go towards Bleak Falls Barrow and find the possession of her bother's and bring it back.

"Well of course he doesn't want you to go get it, Camilla. I know you're no weakling, and that you can defend yourself, but these are barbarians we're talking about, and Divines know how many. I know you're not going to like hearing this, but I'm siding with your brother. I don't want you going up there. Even if bandits weren't an issue, the draugr alone are enough of a reason to stay away. I'll be damned if I let anything happen to you, especially this close to our wedding."
Eir could see she hadn't said what Camilla wanted to hear, but she'd been expecting it. She took her fiancee's hand and squeezed it. "Come now, don't give me that look. I wasn't finished. I absolutely forbid you from going up there, but I think it's cowardly to let those bandits maraud unpunished. I'll get Lucan's item back, whatever it is. I know it seems like a tall order for one person, but you know I'm far stronger than anyone here in Riverwood, if you'll excuse me for being so vain. You can rest easy knowing I'm on the job. ...After I sleep for several hours. I feel as if I'm about to collapse."

Camilla couldn't believe that even her fiancee was siding against her. To make matters worse she was also questioning her abilities to handle some barbarians as well. She then felt Eir squeezing her hand and then says she would go to get Lucan's item herself from the bandits. While she believed that would be the best thing to do however she still felt insulted by Eir's words and wanted to prove to her fiancee that she can be just as strong as Eir was. Already she was thinking of a plan to prove this wrong of her. "Well for now let's get you some rest. You can ask Lucan about his item later and I'll come up to bring you some food and drink as well." Camilla explained and offered switching towards her more caring nature which she normally doesn't show for other people.
