The Quest

Mysha sighted in relief as they left the city gates of Nhirgau behind them on the road to the Silver Mountains pass. The seventeen year old Votari girl always got tense when city guard was around, as she was a rogue and scoundrel, alltough lately she had found honest work with the help of the Cleric Kiel. "So, whats our mission? The Mayor said we shouldn´t open the envelope until we have left the city, so I guess it must be something secret and important!", she said cheerily and glanced at the sealed letter her friend was holding. Mysha was a cute teen, quite short and slender and very, very nimble. The Votari were famed traders and liked to color their hair as she did, it was not very long and dark purple. Mysha wore simple, light brown clothing and a dark green cloak under which she hid a curved dagger and a light crossbow. She also had two gold earings from her country which looked quite expensive. Not always safe in their line of business.

(Maybe the letter carries a magic ring or something they must safely bring to the dwarf town...)

Kiel pulled out the aforementioned envelope and looked over the details of it. It was a plain little envelope, one that could have been given to them by a commoner if one didn’t know any better, but the cleric knew well there had to be something inside of value. He could feel it. No, he could quite literally feel a small weight inside of it, though he didn’t know what it was yet. “I’m not sure what it is,” Kaiel admitted while examining the closed envelope. “But I do know where we’re taking it. He requested we bring it to the dwarven town of Dum Kuldor.” Kiel was of average height with a build that wasn’t very big, but he was clearly still a man of combat. He had a short sword sheathed to his hip while a staff was strapped to his back, along with a few books on magics. He wore a simple cloak, it being white and decorated with a few runes that would activate if he wished them to.

"You don´t want to open the envelope, but Kiel I am so curious!", Mysha complained and looked at him with pleading eyes. She was cute rather than annoying, so maybe he would give in. They had no money for horses so they would have to walk all the way, however, there should be a good tavern for travelers of all walks of life on their way. So no harm done.

Kiel looked down at the girl as she pleaded with him and let out a sigh. It was hard to say no to her, he had to admit that much. “Alright, we can look inside of it,” he replied while starting their journey towards the destined town. “But only this once alright?” After saying that he would hand over the envelope to her so she could happily open it herself.

"Once will be enough.", Mysha confirmed with a nod and quickly opened the envelope to get the insides into her greedy little hands. "Oh its a ring, it must be magical...", the girl said and looked at it in detail before even putting it on. "It's so pretty, I wish we could keep it.", Mysha said, sounding somewhat disappointed.

While she opened the envelope, Kiel looked through their map and determined their journey would be a long one. Hopefully it wouldn’t be too dangerous, but those things weren’t always for certain. “A ring?” he responded without looking at it. “Wonder what it’ll be used for. Alright you can put it away now, don’t want to lose it.”

It seemed they would have to go trough the Greywood forest next, or otherwise take a big detour. Neither route was entirely safe. "Here take a look!", the girl said and showed it to her companion. It was indeed a beautiful piece of craftsmanship. "My guess is that it is a gift. Not a lot of dwarf women get born according to what I´ve heard, and the men go through great lengths to woe them.", Mysha said with a chuckle. "Here you can have it back now!", the teen told Kiel and handed over the ring so it could go back into the envelope.
"You know, when the road gets too dangerous we could always look for more help. There are usually adventurers in taverns in these parts of the world. We don´t have a lot of money, but we could try to over a share of the reward. Or we just run when we get into trouble. That always helped me.", Mysha mused thoughtfully.

Kiel thought about their choices as he lead the way and figured, as long as they were careful they would be fine. Besides, he was usually able to get them out of any kind of trouble. “Well if it is a gift let be careful not to lose it,” he said while accepting the ring back, quickly placing it back in its envelope and inside of the small bag he carried.
“We’ll figure that out when the time comes,” he said. “And we aren’t offering a share of our reward. We need all of the money we can get, and I’m not too keen on trusting people who might stab me in the back once the job is done.”

She gave him a nod and watched him hiding the ring. Mysha and Kiel would guard it with their lives. The teen frowned a bit when he refused using any help. Sure staying alone would have its benefits, but it seemed like he really wanted her to know who was boss. She guessed that he was older meant he was boss. Alright, Kiel was smart enough. And Mysha knew it was beneficial to be on the side of the strongest. She sighted lightly.
As they walked she picked up some berries from the bushes lining the road, they seemed like they could be eaten.

Alright now to continue moving towards the town. Hopefully they’d come across an Inn or tavern soon before the sky grew dark, otherwise they’d have to find a safe place to set up camp. Kiel glanced again at the map and determined it’d be a few hours before they saw their first tavern, though he couldn’t exactly tell how long. While Mysha picked off berries from some of the bushes, he would stop her before she ate one.
“Hold on, I have a few left over snacks,” he told her. “No need to test your luck with those.”
