Settling A Score (Kankuro & Shino)

"Bwahahah! Admit it, Sabakuno! You got owned last time you were here and you know it!"

Kankuro grit his teeth at Kiba's raucous laughter, and kneaded his temple. The Inuzuka was damn annoying, and obnoxious besides. Just loved rubbing his face into his defeat, like a dog who wasn't toilet-trained.

"Shut the fuck up, Inuzuka," he said. "It wasn't a 'defeat. More like a draw. Aburame here only beat me because of a few cheap tricks."

He surveyed the stoic Shino for a moment. The guy was still clad head to toe in thick clothes, showing as little of his body as possible. What he was thinking was just as much a mystery as whether he was an innie or an outie--that is, no one could give you a straight answer.

Shino continued to observe his enviornment with the cold detachment he always had.

That was him: observe, then pounce. Unlike OTHER shinobi he could name, Shino was proud of himself for always gathering enough information before anything.

((oh I know!! kiba or kankuro could point out how boring gathering information is enough to get shino to do something on impulse--that gets him spanked!!))

[Croup]

"Cheap tricks? Heh, the way I hear it, Shino beat you because you started crying like a girl at a couple bugs!" Kiba said, slinging an arm around his silent teammate.

Kankuro narrowed his eyes. "Careful, Inuzuka, or I'll sizzle the skin right off your ass."

That shut Kiba up. He backed off a step, willing to let the confrontation proceed without him.

"So what'd you say Aburame?" Kankuro asked, cracking his neck. "You willing to go for a rematch? Or are you too busy sizing me up to get your hands dirty?"

"I beg your pardon?"

Shino could take a lot of insults, heck that was half his job when being Kiba's teammate, but one thing he could not stand was being called pusillanimous. ((yay I actually like using this word, not a lot of people know it!))

He pushed his black tea-shades father up his nose and glared in the Suna-nin's direction

Kankuro tilted his head back and smirked at the bug-ninja. "You heard me, beetle eyes. Must be real easy winning fights when half the time you're hiding in the bushes, watching the real men do the work."

[rahl]

"I resent that comment"
To Kankuro, the shinobi's voice sounded as stoic as ever, but Kiba who had been with the bug-catcher longer noticed the slightest hint of anger in his team-mate

Kiba smiled. It wasn't usual that Shino got pissed off at something, so why not take advantge of it when he did? it might be fun to watch

[Croup]

With a raise of his eyebrows, Kankuro's painted face looked approvingly at Shino. He crossed his thick arms across his chest. "Oh? So let's see you prove me wrong. Let's go, just you and me. Loser . . . " Kankuro thought for a moment, and then suddenly leered dangerously. "Loser gets their ass beat. Old school style."

Shino considered for a moment. Usually he would re-evaluate his opponent before jumping into a fray. But in this situation doing that would just prove the puppeteer right.

"Right!" He retorted. Silently he loosed some female shikubu ((I just made that up, I forget how he calls his bugs)) out his sleeve. He WAS going to win.

[Croup]

The puppet-nin inclined his head towards the treetops above them. "Alright then. I'll show you how that fight should've went the first time." He leaped up with his puppet on his back, assuming Shino would follow him.

Kiba watched as the sand-nin and his teammate prepared themselves for battle, his mouth gaping slightly. Was that guy serious when he'd said the loser would get his ass beat? And Shino had agreed so readily! Kiba had never seen his stoic teammte receive a spanking--though he had taken one or two from him in the past (he didn't like to talk about those). He privately decided to follow them where they went and see how the fight turned out. There was no way Kiba was going to miss this.

((do you mind in we fast-forward a bit? fight scenes take SO LONG and they're definetely not my forte))

Uncharcateristic of himself, Shino gasped for air and struggled to keep his footing. He was coming to regret not waiting at least long enough to see HOW many puppets his opponent had before starting the fight.

Who would have known that the Suna-nin had added another freak to his show, one with new surprises?

As he felt his left arm slowly growing numb, he knew that the kunai the marionettes ppped out were laced with some kind of poison.

Shino was forced to recall some of his bugs to his body so they could suckout the poison.
