It was a bad day Conan Sighed

"And to think this is the 2nd time I took Gradeschool Music too" He SIGHED as he looked at the note again

It detailed his failure to pay attention in music class that he was frequently snoring , in conclusion it says "he may be tone deaf to some degree but he needs to apply himself more regardless"

Conan gulped as he remembered his last conversation with Ran.

"Young man I am VERY disappointed with you... You have two weeks to get this grade up to a C or else I am going to take you straight over my knee"

Conan gulped but sighed knowing , not really being 7 that they'd probaly call home too so destroying the note was pointless

"Taidama!" He calls out halfheartedly. gulping when no hearty "Okairi" greeted him

gulped seeing Ran busy dusting... and decided to get it over with...

"Rannee-chan uh I brought this home from school" he said nervously handing her the note.

Ran put a hand on her hip and took the note from Conan, and with a sigh she read it through, "Okay, Conan. You remember what I said, don't you?" Ran slowly set the duster down and grabbed a chair from the kitchen.

She sat down in the wooden chair and took Conan's hand, leading him over her knee. She never liked to do this but it was for his own good.

He squeeks a little not able to help it "Rannee-chan please... It wont happen again..." He says furiously racing through his mind for a way to get out of this...

"Im just not very good at music you know that dont you Rannee-chan please..."

Instinctive puts his hands in protective position knowing soon he'll either be ordered to move them or they'll be moved for him

As Ran raised her hand above her head, a knock sounded at the door. She gasped and let Conan up, racing to answer the door, "You got lucky this time, mister!" She slowly opened the door, "Hello, can I help you?"
"This is the Mouri Detective Agency, is it not?" Asked the man at the door. He had short brown hair and insanely bright blue eyes.
"Yes," Said Ran, "Come in."

The man seated himself down and woke up a snoring Kogoro at his desk. When Kogoro was fully awake, the man introduced himself as Dev Chujir. He then explained the case, saying a murder had taken place at his home at the other side of town.
Kogoro groaned and got up, entering his bedroom to get dressed for today's case.
Ran kneeled down to Conan's level, "You're off the hook, but one more report card like that..and I'll put you over my knee, no joking."

conan sighs "Thank Kami-sama."

"Dont worry Ran-neechan I'll be good I promise" he says and trys to be quiet.

He couldnt deny though that after being spanked he always felt like whatever he'd done had been resolved.

Dev then explained that a friend of his an elderly but wealthy man by the name of Hanabashi Kenjaro and his 3 grown and one teenage children had been visiting for a party... 2 sons and 2 daughters

His eldest Son Daisuke Was murdered.

"The contents of my will give him what, I WILL concede might be considered an unfairly generous percentage of my estate I suspect that one of my children ... ARRANGED for him to die."

Kogoro pauses then says "Then it has to be your surviving son... as hes likely to be the one who now gets most favored status"

Conan churtles "Wouldnt he have framed someone else for it... as hes the most obvious suspect?"

Kogoro snarled "SHUT UP IDIOT"

"You shut up, father. Excuse me, but I think Conan-kun has a point." Ran glared heavily at her father. She winked at Conan, "Anything you'd like to add to that statement?"

Conan gulped, usualy when she actively encouraged him to participated in a investigation it meant she was on to him... so he tried to balance giving them hints with his cover

"Well think I'd never commit murder myself... but if I was going to I'd make sure I had an alliby... I'd be doubly sure if I was the most likely suspect... Granted he might WANT us to think that... It gets confusing... but what about your daughters I know the youngest is only 16 or so but people have commited murder at younger ages havent they I heard about that on TV"

"What do you watch on TV" Kogoro snarls "I could never stand to watch those boring documentaries I prefer

"Tripe Idol shows?" Conan quips's not realizing he might be pushing his luck...

He decides to interject

"at least talk with your daughters too it could even be somone else entirely who wants the forthcoming inheritence issue to be his cover?"

Ran stared intensely at Conan, almost unblinkingly.
Dev put his hand to his chin as if he was thinking, as to tease Kogoro.
Kogoro just stared at Dev, having no comment.

"There is a car waiting outside, we must hurry to the scene of the crime." Said Dev.
Ran took Conan's hand and led him out the door behind Dev and Kogoro.
