Appearance: Russ wears shorts whenever he gets the chance, and can run as well in sandals as sneakers, so he doesn’t seem to care what he has on his feet. He hates having to be out in the rain, though, so he’ll go full raincoat, boots, etc. to stay as dry as he can if it’s wet out. The majority of his clothes are sports-related, his nightclothes oversized versions of the same. He has a couple of favorite baseball caps for playing outside, and a scarf the same color as his hair he wears a lot in the winter. His hair is quite manelike, something he’s proud of, and he doesn’t like getting it cut for the same reason.
History: Russell was born out of wedlock to a woman who did not trust her own health or means as being enough to support herself, much less a baby boy. He’s been part of the foster system for his entire life, having just spent three years at the Saint Clarence Mission for the Meek, a decidedly more ‘uniformed’ and institutional sort of place than he’s in now. As the Mission has a tendency to take in the youngest children possible, in order to ensure they are given a stronger early foundation, they tend to send their children as they approach the ‘older’ years of their childhood to other places. Russell is no different.
Personality: First of all, Russ isn’t quite ‘King of the Jungle’ or of anything else, for that matter. He’s adventurous, he likes to lead, and to help, but he isn’t bossy so much as he is exuberant. Russell likes being noticed. Whether that means singing on a stage or being the pitcher for a baseball game, he enjoys being the center of attention and succeeding at things. Until he gets to know adults, he tends to be suspicious that they aren’t nice – and other kids are potentially even worse. Once he decides you’re an okay sort of person, though, he’s friendly to you.
School: He’ll be in the sixth grade next year. He likes spelling bees, science, and social studies, but not reading and book reports, which are boring and stupid, respectively. He’s a A-to-B student, pretty average, really. His grades suffer only in the areas he can’t be bothered to do well in, and he’s fine in all the rest.
Interests/Hobbies: He’s very competitive whenever he can actually be roused from his other favorite hobby, napping. He likes sports, and music, and definitely wants to learn how to play one… but he doesn’t own any.
Miscellaneous: Russell has compensated for his lack of parents by being very much a pro-mimi sort of kid. All nekos, especially other lions, are his kin and are awesome in his eyes. He’s proud of his heritage, and wants to be admired and respected for being particularly… er… liony.
Relationships: Rusty has an 'awesome' relationship with Sphynx, because he's cool and tough and fun to 'play' with - even if playing with him usually involves being manhandled and abused by the mighty wild cat boy.
Josephine is super-nice, and Rusty frequently favors her as a human pillow since she's always so happy to be kind and gentle and he takes it in good stride when she treats him with kidgloves - he understands that being 'cute' for her is usually pretty rewarding ^-^
