Slade Orins was 12 years old. He wasn't a baby, though his parents still treated him like one. He supposed it had to do with the fact that he was the baby of the family, the youngest for 5 boys. He hated it.

Now, he looked around the docks, making sure no one was watching. When it was clear, he ran up the ramp, and hid in a box, ontop of some old ropes. He was getting out of here.

Some time later rough hands opened the box and lifted the boy into the air, the brawny sailor shook him hard "What your name boy?" He asked.

The ship had put to sea while the boy had been in the box and most of the ships company were busy, the back of a tall man in a black coat was visible over the sailors shoulder.

"I'm Slade Orins! Put me down!" he ordered, haughtily.

The big sailor shook him hard and turned round still holding the boy by one arm and walked towards the man in the black coat.

"Captain I found a fish on the deck, hes still wiggling and I want to know if I should throw him back." the sailor said stopping some distance from the man in black, the now identified Captain turned round and regarded first the sailor then the struggling boy "I don't think so Hallock put him down, I will deal with our little fish myself." He said narrowing hazel eyes at the boy.
"Aye Captain." Hallock said and dropped the boy on the deck.

Slade landed with an "Oof."
"Jerk!" he shot at the sailor, before looking up, through angry blue eyes.
"I'm not going back!" he informed the captain.

"Mind your tongue." Hallock said cuffing him and looking at the Captain, who waved him away "Return to your post Hallock." the big man complied.
"You will go and do what I say is that understood." the Captain said hauling him to his feet by his collar and marching him towards the Captains cabin.

Slade would have struggled, but he he forced himself to walk calmly. This was the captain, and was in control of what happened to him. He'd heard enough stories to know it could go south very quickly for him.

The captain took him into the cabin and left in front of the desk while he sat down "I am Captain Charles Reynolds of the Kraken and you are aboard my ship, as such I have the power to punish you by any means at my command." Captain Reynolds explained "Shall we start with your name and reason for being aboard."
