Appearance: He almost always looks sad or alone, even in a crowded room. He doesn't have an actual preference to clothes...instead wearing whatever he has. Most of his current clothes are in poor condition. When given a choice however he seems to prefer clothes that hide him almost, or at least cover him up. If he's got a hood, it's almost always up. He has a good size cut on his right ear that's grown to resemble a small triangular chunk missing from it.
History: Lyall was born to an uncaring mother and an alcoholic father. He was often neglected and abused both verbally and physically over the slightest mishap from his parents. As such he learned to sort of take care of himself over the years. Being quiet unless spoken to, cooking for himself, even coming to accept the abuse as something deserved.
The abuse was not constant from the beginning however. His mother was young, but supported by his father. For the first few years everything seemed to go alright as his parents worked together to take care of him. However that ended when his father abruptly lost his job. He began to drink and get more violent around his wife and son. His mother began to leave home often, to try and reclaim some of the lost youth she said to have wasted. Lyall himself, being a child at the time, started to think all of this was his own fault. As such he never revealed the abuse he recieved from his parents, obvious as it should have been. When he was six, he found a cookbook, and took a bit of joy in reading it. However he only got about halfway through it before his father discovered him. Lyall actually learned to cook a little from it, and would make himself something to eat when he needed it. Then the incident happened. He was cooking for himself as usual when his father came home right as he was chopping up some vegetables. He'd always hid that he could cook, and waited until his parents were gone before doing so. This time he was discovered in the act, and his father was infuriated to find him 'using up all their food'. The knife was taken from Lyall and in a drunken rage swung through the air. The result was a cut straight through his right ear. Luckily for Lyall his dad stopped there, as he just laughed at the boy and headed out again. This act of abuse was not so easily hid however, and the abuse was finally discovered as child services came to take the boy away.
He was bounced around from foster home, to foster home, as seemingly none could really get through to the boy. He went through life at those foster homes independently almost, caring little for those around him as he thought himself too low to be cared for. Eventually he was sent here, to the Faust Home, in hopes that the nurturing environment can help.
Personality: Lyall has alot of really major self-esteem issues. He came to accept the physical abuse of his parents as deserved, and the verbal to be true. He thinks of himself far lower than others. He's also very quiet and detached, as he seems to have developed a bit of a lone wolf attitude, keeping to himself and trying to be independant towards his troubles. However, he really is just lonely and scared to approach others, not wanting to be hurt anymore. He wants to get over his problems...but he doesn't know how, no one has really been there for him yet.
School: Despite his grades Lyall was always fairly bright in school. He is actually really smart, and seems open to learning things quite readily. However he is failing, or nearly doing so in all his classes. This is mainly because he has missed so many days, most commonly from his parents trying to hide a recent bruise. He may not understand the importance of school all that well.
Interests/Hobbies:
None/has never been allowed to find/keep anything that interested him. He does seem to like to read however, although it may just be because it was one of the only things he could do. He'll often read the labels of things, and even read an entire cookbook once. He seems to have a pretty good memory as well, as he could remember some recipes after the book was taken away.
Miscellaneous:
~As is to be expected, Lyall is very sensitive about his ears. It is not suggested to pull on either of them as punishment, especially not his torn one.
~Lyall knows how to cook for himself. However after the incident which injured his ear he seems to have developed a fear towards sharp objects. Not too severe, but at the very least he will refuse to touch them.
~He will not speak unless he is spoken to, even if he wants/needs something.
~Sometimes in his sleep Lyall will begin to whimper and whine, eventually building up to a howl.
