The Jedi Code (Peeker)
The Jedi Code:
There is no emotion; there is peace.
There is no ignorance; there is knowledge.
There is no passion; there is serenity.
There is no chaos; there is harmony.
There is no death; there is the Force
The Sith Code:
Peace is a lie; there is only passion.
Through passion, I gain strength.
Through strength, I gain power.
Through power, I gain victory.
Through victory, my chains are broken.
The Force shall free me.
"Concentrate young one." Jedi Master Darus told his padawan. They were in the middle of a telekinises exercise, involving moving metal rings of varying wieghts with the power of the force.
"Think not of the rings, but the space around them." He advised as the rings floated through the air.

Halren sat, cross-legged, trying to keep the rings in the air... the.... rings..... Not... not stupid rings.... not.... annoying... or heavy.... or.... awful... rings... just... rings.
The sandy-haired twelve-year-old then, of course, listened to his master.
Wait. The space around the rings?
...did he mean the outside or the inside?
...the sharp clattering of metal shook the boy from his meditations.
"Agh! Rats!" The young padawan complained, crossing his arms in frustration.

"You're getting better." The dark-haired man who looked to be in his mid thirties said with a smile. "That was almost five minutes of sustained telekinises."
Master Darus gathered up the rings and placed them back in their box. "Which brings us to another lesson, when not to use the force."
He sat next to Halren. "I could have picked up those rings, and the box, with the force and put them away. But do you know why I choose not to?"

"Because it would take more time, and since you make me work non-stop, it meant that I could take a few seconds to breath so I could do this longer so that I wouldn't lose confidence?" Halren suggested, neutrally.
The twelve-year-old wasn't big on creative reasons. He prefered to guess that his Master was, in general, just trying to be his sometimes-stick-in-the-mud self.

"Not quite. I did it because you should only use the force when you have to. Look at you for instance. You've been training with the force all day, under my orders I know, and now you are tired and have little in reserve. It's just as if you ran all day, when walking would have sufficed." He patted the boy on the back, the sign that the lesson was over for the day and to follow him out of the training room.
Outside, they walked together through the halls of the jedi enclave on Dantoonie, a small farming world. They passed several other masters with their padawans, some of whom walked a bit stiffly from the feel of the course brown padawan robes rubbing against their freshly reddened bottoms.

Halren just nodded, relieved he was done... and noticed his fellow Padawans as they walked.... trying not to smile at them. Their woven robes hurt plenty on a sore bottom. The boy couldn't help but wonder: just where was his master taking him? ........hopefully to his own quarters: if he was bringing the boy to his quarters, he'd see that he hadn't straightened up... as he'd been told to... three times....
It wasn't his fault! He'd forgotten!
...three times.

"Now, I want you straight to bed after your dinner and meditation time..." The jedi master began as a ship could be heard landing outside.
"Out of the way!" Three jedi yelled, pushing a gurney down the hall with a body on it. Master Darus quickly moved Halren aside to let them pass.
On the gurney lay a man in a dark cloak, with a metal mask covering his face. The few pieces of skin that could be seen were gray and sickly.
Darus looked like he had just seen a ghost. "Revan...!"

"M-Master?" The padawan was startled: the older jedi rarely, if ever raised his voice like that.
"Who... what was that? Master?"
The boy watched the quartet of jedi with wide eyes, until they were out of view.
....there was... an incredible presence...
"Who... Master? Master Darus! What was that!?"

"Quickly, go to my chambers, tell no one of what you saw." He said. "I...I need to confirm something." Darius then turned from him, heading towards the council chamber.

The boy bowed. "...yes master..." And hurriedly ran off towards his master's chambers.... pausing for a scant couple of minutes to straighten up his own room... and then completing the journey to get where he had to go.
His master's room was fairly scant, as most Jedi's dwellings were.. at least here on Dantoonie. The boy stood in the center of the room... and lacking anything else to do, quietly meditated on what he'd just seen, wondering what it could possibly be.
