Katelyn Ricards was a junior at Teitan High School, an honours student with an interest in crime and the criminal justice system. She was going to study to be a police officer or a detective soon. Today was a nice day, in the upper sixties, the sky was clouding up as Katelyn and her friend Amber were playing at the park.
This was an every day activity. Once classes were done, they were at the old abandoned park. Nobody ever visited, and it was falling apart, and it was just around the corner from the local diner. After a day of play, they would go to the diner for a special treat. Today was going to be much different from any other day.
Amber was ill. Katelyn, also known as Katey, had to walk her home after a rough day. She sat down with a sigh on a swing, the park surrounded by trees and large buildings. She tried to get her mind off of her sick friend. A gentle breeze blew her long, dark brown hair onto her shoulders, her bright green eyes gazing at the ground. She heard talking. She knew it was wrong, but she just had to listen in.

"I-I've got the money." a frightened voice said. "Shut up you idiot!" a gruff voice said, cutting off the owner of the frightened voice and making him whimper. "Let us conclude this transaction somewhere more... private." a more elegant voice said, and as she looked behind her, Katelyn would see a black suited man with long hair turning a corner, out of sight.

Katelyn got up from the swing and slowly made her way into a place to hide, in order to watch the scene unfold. She had her camera, and was ready to take pictures and report it. She was barely breathing as she watched, hoping that they had not already seen her.

Pain shot through her head, and it seemed to engulf her entire body as she hit the ground. She could see the individual blades of grass as she slowly faded out of consciousness. Oh, shit..Oh shit..I'm going to die.

"I didn't get to see the effects of this on the other kid..." the elegant voice said, putting something in her mouth, massaging her throat and pouring water into her mouth to make her swallow.

Katey looked up the best she could as the pill effected her, trying to get a good glimpse at their faces. Pain struck. It felt as if her bones were melting. Her body felt hot. It felt like she had entered the fiery depths of hell. "No...I'm sorry... I didn't mean..." she choked out.

That was the last thing Katey heard before the world became very dark. Several hours passed, and she woke.
