Description: Megan is a slender and petite girl, standing at just over five feet. Megan wears whatever seems comfortable, usually settling for jeans and a t-shirt. She does have a slight eye for fashion, but lacks the budget to really dress up much. Her favorite colors are pink and black, and her wardrobe displays this love. She wears her raven-black hair in a high ponytail, letting the tips flow to just below her neckline. Her eyes are a bright green against her youthful face, and her skin is fair and unblemished. She smiles lovingly to those that she likes, and will even keep a pleasant expression on for those that she doesn’t.





Powers: Megan is superhumanly intelligent and inventive, rivaling the great scientists of the age. She can analyze a machine or situation and surmise how it works almost intuitively. In addition, the increased neural activity also substantially augments her dexterity, reflexes and perceptiveness, though not so dramatically that she’s ever noticed. Having been bedridden for so long, simply being able to walk seems amazing to her, so she doesn’t realize how fast or agile she really is. Megan, at any given time, carries a variety of self-made gadgets on her. For the most part, these are just to amuse her (like her hovskates and Scuffles, a talking teddy bear) or make her life simpler (like the small personal data assistant that she carries which has more operating capability than the best personal computers). Most, though, have little to no offensive capability. Her strongest asset, however, is the suit of form-fitting powered armor that she wears when needed


Background: Megan was born with a degenerative nerve disorder that effectively crippled her. Her nerves were unable to heal and grow properly, leaving her bedridden for much of her younger years. At the age of ten, her parents were approached by a “benevolent” organization with the offer of performing an experimental procedure on the girl in hopes of reversing her condition. With her parents’ permission, the operation was performed, using gene therapy to attempt to jumpstart her nervous system. Within weeks, the resulting progress had enabled the girl to make an almost total recovery, allowing her to celebrate her 11th birthday without the aid of a wheelchair or braces. However, the operation had actually worked even better than expected, restoring her neural connections and allowing them to transmit at incredible rates. Her nerve tissue was now able to heal itself, creating new pathways easily. Because of the increased receptors, her intelligence increased dramatically, revealing an inventiveness that surpassed many great thinkers of the time. Despite her newfound powers, though, Megan is just happy that she can live like a normal girl, and struggles to do so in spite of her extraordinary abilities.


Roleplaying Notes: Megan is a very sweet and loving young lady, easily becoming attached to those with whom she's friendly. Despite her timid appearance and manners, she will fight for those that she cares about. Because Megan has little power outside of her inventions and gadgets, she is largely helpless when not equipped. If she has access to anything useful, though, she can likely find a way out of most situations. Megan also has a secret dream of becoming a pop singer, and practices karaoke when no one is around. She has terrible stage fright in front of actual people, though.


Alternate Universe: Megan would fit readily into any science fiction setting, usually as a techie or hacker character. In a modern fantasy setting, she could be a technomage of some kind, and I once played her in a World of Darkness game as a computer-based mage. In a normal modern setting, she would still be a gifted student or hacker in a school or home setting, perhaps as an older sister (or sister figure) for other characters. Megan's age can vary, but will usually be in the 14-16 range.
