Default Batfamily (For Passionate Shadow)

Robin let himself fall back on the ladder of the fire-escape, holding onto the dirty rusty rung by his knees. He let his arms fall above his head to crack his knuckles, bright yellow cape blowing in the wind as he glanced around the alleyway casually. It was a little too cold for the brief green shorts of his costume, and his cape would have been a great blanket right now but someone had to be doing something other than cuddling up on a rooftop with Catwoman. As it turned out, Batman was not the man for that job so Robin had decided to give them some privacy since patrolling Gotham had been forgotten.

The moment Bruce noticed that his twelve year old sidekick was now alone in the city, he was going to be furious but Jason wasn’t so worried about that right now. All he wanted was to be able to sneak away for a cigarette break and not be stuck watching his hero kiss the villain for the rest of the night. It always ended up that way with Catwoman, and so Jason had decided a short trip was in order. He was only two blocks from the building, anyway, so he could probably make it back before they were done whispering sweet-nothings in each other's ears.

The sidekick had spent his pocket money –normally neatly tucked into the utility belt – on a pack of cigarettes and he was smoking one with all the joys of that taboo. It wasn’t like he had been allowed to keep the habit once he moved in with Bruce, and the man smelled it on him every fucking time. Patrolling was a good excuse for that though, because everyone in Crime Alley smelled like smoke and so it wouldn’t be that strange. At least, that’s how Jason justified the choice as he brought the cigarette to his lips.

It was an image that would have had Dick Grayson in fits. Sweet little Robin, swinging himself by his legs in an alley as if he was on the monkey bars; he looked the picture of childish innocence save for the nasty smoke escaping his lips. It fit the second Robin, though, just as well as the occasional sip of a foul word did. It tended to distract the villains to see the Boy Wonder in this light, but for now, the bad habits were distracting him from the villains…

Luckily enough for the boy wonder he seemed to have been in the right place at the right time as a loud crash sounded just about half a block away. Someone had broken in to a rather nice antique shop that dealt with jewelry and the two thugs were busily stashing the loot as quickly as they could before any cops would arrive on the scene. Another on looker who was currently keeping to the shadows draped in black shied back. He had watched as his target was taken He figured it'd have been just his luck that someone else would strike the very place he needed to break in to. The small unfortunate event that he needed something from there. He waited watching patiently looking for a perfect opportunity to swoop in and nab the only thing that mattered to him for the evening. The alarm only seemed to blare louder as the time slipped by slowly.

Surely this little deed would have caught the attention of not only Robin but the two love birds on the roof tops.

Vibrant blue eyes narrowed as he watched two people flee the building in a mad dash. He started after keeping to the ledge he was perched on for the time being and taking to the next roof in his silent pursuit.

Jason chucked his half finished cigarette to the side the moment he heard the sound of the crash, grabbing the rung under him so he could flip down onto his feet. He landed gracefully and headed towards the sound, running towards the noise with a bright and excited look. Finally, something interesting to be doing tonight! He had barely arrived at the scene before he felt Batman move beside him in a flurry of his long black cape; the sound had brought them to the same spot and given Catwoman the opportunity to escape with a few items lifted from the utility belt. (Not that either of them would know that for a little while.)

“Robin, wait for the police.” Batman ordered after a quick glance around, and Jason hid the urge to grown at being given the not job of waiting at the building. He nodded his head instead and carefully slipped to look for any terrified store owners, though he doubted there would be anyone here at this hour. Bruce, meanwhile, followed after the robbers. It wasn’t long before the police arrived, luckily and their timing meant Robin was able to try to catch up with him. It just put him a little further behind.

Meanwhile the raven haired boy shied back as he noticed Batman show up and take hot pursuit. Hesitantly he followed keeping a good distance. Cerulean blue eyes narrowed as the partial scuffle caused one of the satchels the cat burglars had to spill it's contains on to the ground. Now was the perfect chance for he saw what he wanted and quickly made his way down to snatch it up right away. A white gold locket nothing more and nothing less. He bounded atop some heavy metal trash cans and up to the top of a dumpster and then to a fire escape and then right up on to the roof tops once more. It seemed as if Robin now had a choice. To either listen to the command given, or take after the new culprit upon the scene. The choice would have to be made quickly if he chose to take after the new figure. Although they were short they certainly weren't lacking in agility nor speed.

Robin wasn’t about to let the thief get away, so he abandoned the job he’d been assigned. Heck, it wasn’t like him staying around was going to do any good! So, with one brief twinge of guilt for going against his hero’s orders, he followed the other boy in hot pursuit. He found his footing on the garbage cans gracefully, using them to follow the same path as the thief.

It only seemed logical to him that Bruce was going to forgive the direct disobedience, if Robin just managed to catch the culprit and get back in time. Fuck, he’d probably not only forgive him. He’d probably be proud of his adopted son for taking the initiative, getting the bad guy, and then making it back all in one piece. The thought made Jason’s lips tug upwards in a smirk.

Upon closer inspection Jason could tell the person he was chasing was wearing a mess shirt beneath some black motorcycle gear that resembled armor. There legs were wrapped in what appeare dto be taught leather or suede with what looked like dense garter straps around the top of those legs with what appeared to holsters on the outside of those legs. Tall, shin high boots covered his feet and were also fastened with straps. Taught gloves encased those thieving hands. An the head had on a black bandana tied on like a head band and a set of large motorcycle goggles that banded the eyebrows and eyes obscuring more than half his face. The mad dash atop the roof tops didn't seem frantic or panicked. This person sure didn't think twice about jumping off the roof tops to land safely at the desired destination.

After a sharp turn on to a narrow ledge he darted down to a metal awning before leaping to the side walk and darted down two blocks turning in to an alley way. He didn't continue on however he waited ready to nail his persuader with a surprise kick soon as he rounded that corner.

Hmmm, so this kid wasn’t just some poor person in need of money. That was something that Jason could sympathize with; he’d been a thief to survive before so he couldn’t really judge that. This wasn’t that though, because whoever this person was, they were wearing some sort of costume of sorts. It wasn’t as easy to come up with a nickname for as usual; no big blatant sign of what he wanted to be called was hanging around his neck.

Jason settled for low brow humor, since Batman wasn’t around to cough that distinct cough that told him to reign in his mouth. “Hey, gay bar!” He called after the man jokingly; he didn’t have a problem with men liking men. He couldn’t have a problem with men liking men, because he’d had plenty of crushes by this age on girls and boys. He did know that it riled up most guys, though, when you implied that they did before they told you so. So he went with it.

Robin didn’t expect the blow to come as he followed around the corner, and he fell backwards from the blow. He grabbed at a trashcan to push himself back up, ignoring the distinct clatter of it falling to the ground as he did. “What’s wrong with you?” He inquired of the villain as he moved into a better stance to keep up their fight. “Don’t want to get caught by a sidekick?” He inquired with a smirk.

"Side kick eh? Isn't that all your good for?" He asked popping open a black leather artist's caring tube and pulled out a jet black crow bar along with tire iron whitch both were curentlyattached to one anouther by a detachable chain. They were hooked on the fire escape ladde rover his head and with ease he flipped up on to the escape. Upton returning them to their holder he called down to Robin. "Careful little birdy- Else your rump-sticks 'll get burned." He chucked down a small bottle of glass and it broke in-front of Robin's feet. His hand came up and in the right palm a small flame appeared as he held his hand out his left hand came up and a long steam of fire soon spat out down towards robin and the ground before him lit ablaze. He started up the zig-zagging stairs before reaching the roof tops once again. The dark figure continued to try and put some-distance between them.

‘All he was good for…’what was that even supposed to mean? Did Mr. Leather really think he gave a damn that people knew he depended on Batman? Jason didn’t give a shit if people thought it was funny that he followed Bruce’s orders, because if any single person in the world had earned his obedience than it was Bruce. There was no question of that for Jason; even if he wasn’t always good at the direct part of the obedience, he tried his best at the spirit of it. It wasn’t easy though, and made a dismissive sound at the words. Whatever, man.

The villain had moved upwards instead of forwards then, and that was pretty unexpected because most of them didn’t give a damn about fighting Robin. Batman was the one they ran from! The bottle should have been warning enough even without the exclamation, but the flame started before he could react. Robin yelped – he would deny that was the correct word for the noise – as his cape caught on fire. He moved away from the flames quickly and did his best to slap out the fire before it set his feathered panties on ablaze from contact. That would have sucked real bad.

Jason had his own bone to pick now besides just ‘justice,’ and so he ran the other way till he found a free enough spot to throw his own grappling hook into. It was, somewhat appropriately, a gargoyle and he did his best to speed the ascent to the roof. “Come on; you can’t run away forever!” Jason declared, as he reached the top and unhooked it once more to throw it across and follow the man to the next building. He landed gracefully, and continued to run after him in hopes of catching up with the thief. It seemed like some sort of distraction was in order so he threw a handful of marbles against the rooftop; maybe the idiot would trip!

He came to a sliding stop seeing the marbles roll out in-front of him. He looked up to a pigeon coop but instead of continuing his fleeting path he turned on his heel. All this done in but a moment. "Isn't it past your bed time?" He asked as he started forward not bothering with the weapons as he cracked his knuckles in the slow, yet purposeful walk towards Jason. After about three steps he stopped moving to set his hand on his hips. "I aut to put you to bed before your daddy finds out you're not where you should be." He taunted with a rather cocky tone.

He was on high alert and being cautious as he had approached despite the teasing words. He was attempting to have Robin attack first. It appeared as though he didn't want to engage the boy and took his flight the first few times but seeing as Robin persisted he would have to oblige the boy with a little more than a 'stern talking to'. The fact that he didn't draw the crow bar or tier iron could mean one of two things. He was underestimating Robin or he was confident in his own hand to hand. Taking in the account of him fleeing and his current facade, the chances were this was not some one who liked to hurt others.

Now that Robin could get a good look at him in the light he could see the attire was entirely makeshift of little more than leather and knee pads along with mesh to break up any lighting shine the leather might cause. Should Jason choose to engadge him he best keep on his feet around the crafty teen.
