More trouble than he's worth (For animefangirl)

It was dark. A lot darker than the young man had expected. He stared out of the window of the apartment room, bored and waiting. He was supposed to be here for now...or rather, he wasn't supposed to cause trouble. Problem was, trouble always seemed to find him in one form or another. He didn't go seeking it out, mind you...he just never turned away either.

Perhaps it was because he was never good at following rules?

Minutes later, he was on the street, wandering around, hands in the pockets of his jacket, deciding that a walk couldn't be all that bad, a five minute walk, that couldn't be the worse thing.

He could smell the scent of cigarettes in the air, and knew that someone was following him. Or maybe more than one...he couldn't tell. He didn't dare risk a look quite yet...though he was prepared to take him (Or them) on in any case.

David had been staying in the apartment with his boyfriend for what felt like forever, but that was just part of their job sometimes and it was something that he had gotten used to a very long time ago. He knew that his partner, who also happened to be his boyfriend and submissive, was getting antsy about it and he had tried to get the younger man to calm down and just deal with it but he wasn't sure if it worked. He left Matt alone for a little while to go and get dinner for the two of them, returning to an empty apartment and that just pissed him off. He had no idea where Matt had gone but he immediately set out to find him and it didn't take him all that long to track the younger man down and frowned when he saw someone else was also following his young boyfriend. That got a protective glare out of David, but he didn't react just yet he just tailed the two and waited to see how Matt would handle himself once the unknown follower made his move. He was of course ready to help his sub out if it started to look like Matt needed help, and he was experienced enough in combat to be able to take out most people fairly easily after this many years working for the CIA, but he also trusted Matt to be able to handle himself so he wanted to see if the kids training would kick in now or if Matt would panic now that he was facing his first real trial in the field. He only hoped Matt would keep his cool and handle it, and that he'd do it quietly so that they didn't end up blowing the mission by drawing too much attention to themselves. Either way Matt's was getting his ass beat when they got somewhere safe, David didn't play around with safety and he felt that Matt should know that and was not going to put up with these sorts of antics from his boyfriend. This was how people got killed and he wasn't willing ot loose Matt that way.

Mat had no idea that David was following him as well, just far enough away for him to be unable to detect. If had turned and looked, he would have seen his boyfriend behind this stalker...unfortunately, that would also mean that he would give away the fact that he knew that he was being followed...and that wouldn't have been a pretty scenario to deal with...not that this was going to end pretty for him either way.

Matt suddenly turned, making a mad dash into the nearby alleyway. The assailant followed after him, hand digging into his pocket for his weapon, whether to simply mug Matt or to do him real harm. He didn't get the chance to though, as Matt's fist collided into his face, knocking him back with the power that someone only experienced in fighting could muster. Unfortunately, the guy quickly scrambled to his feet, scurrying away without too much more of a fight.

"Tch...that was a bit too easy. I was expecting that mugger to pup a real fight, not be a pansy and run away after the first blow." Matt said, slipping his hands into the pockets of his jacket.

David didn't want Matt to know that he was following him and had the kid looked back he would have attempted to duck into a doorway or something so that he wouldn't be made. Since that didn't happen he just tailed the assailant who was tailing his boyfriend and watched to see what Matt would do. He was somewhat pleased to see Matt remember his training when he heard the sounds of a scuffle in the alleyway when his boy ducked in there but when he ran over to see what was happening he frowned as he noticed the man scurrying away and heard what his boyfriend said to himself. "Unless that pansy was really tailing you because your dumb ass left the stakeout site and might have been made by our guy" He growled out, hoping that his voice would startle the younger man and get his attention pretty fast. He was not the least bit happy with Matt right now, it was risky to leave the stakeout site unwatched first of all and secondly he didn't think Matt was experienced enough to be alone in the field just yet. "You are going to regret disobeying my orders, Matt. Lets go before someone notices us" He said then, his voice hard and he pulled the hood of his jacket up to hide his face as he turned to lead the way out of the alley and fully expected his boyfriend to follow. He didn't look back to see if Matt was following him though he just listened as he lead the way to the apartment building where they'd been stationed the last week or so, keeping an eye on a potential double agent that the CIA askedt hem to watch and see if they could find evidence that the man was dirty so they could blacklist him and arrest him. What ticked David off so much was that Matt knew the guy they were watchign was a rogue agent and that the man could notice if he were being watched unless the two of them were very careful about it so he was not pleased right now and he fully intended on taking it out on Matts ass when he got him alone again.

Matt jumped a bit at David's voice, almost jumping out of his skin. 'Shit...I thought he was still in the hotel room!' He thought to himself nervously, trying to think of a good reason to leave...however, he couldn't think of any. Even then, David seemed to know when Matt was lying, used to his excuses at this point. He swallowed hard, knowing that he had really messed up this time...what David said was right. This guy probably knew when he was being tailed, and he had years of experience that Matt didn't have...it was stupid to go out and he knew it, and now he regretted leaving.

"But...David, I..." He got out, half starting a protest, half starting an apology, though nothing more than a few stutters came out, the words colliding in his chest and stuck in his throat. He could feel David's disappointment, and there was a part of him that wanted to protest against being cooped up in a room for so long...but anymore words would just get him into more trouble. David was pissed enough as it is. No need to make it worst.

...shit, this was bad.

David might have been amused to see Matt jumping at the sound of his voice if he weren't so pissed off right now, but he was far too annoyed to be amused by anything right now. He lectured Matt about the stupid choice to leave the hotel room and ordered his boyfriend to come with him, and he paused to glare at Matt over his shoulder when the younger man started to protest since he just was not in the mood to hear it right now and apparently Matt realized that because he stopped without bothering to try. David glared at him a few seconds longer, wanting to make Matt squirm and then he turned and started walking back towards the hotel again and lead the way upstairs. Once they were in the room they'd been staying at for the last week he looked around for a few seconds, thinking and then made his decision. "Pack everything up, we're ditching this place and setting up a new stakeout location. Hurry up, if that was our guy there could be people coming after us as we speak" He said, quickly starting to gather up the important documents and electronics that they needed and that would be pretty bad if they fell into the wrong hands. While he was doing that he expected Matt to be getting the few items of clothing that they each had here and anything else that they needed to bring with, and he'd expect for Matt to be done in ten minutes top so that they could get the hell out of here before any backup of their mark arrived to sweep the apartment and get rid of them.

"Y-Yes, sir." Matt said, feeling more than just a bit bad over the fact that they had to pack up everything and leave over a silly mistake he made. The more he thought about it, the more childish it had seemed...was it really so wrong to want to get out of the room though? It was just supposed to be a simple walk. Still, he supposed that he should've known better. David had warned him a million times about listening to what he said and doing as he was told....and usually Matt was better at it than that...

He immediately did as he was told, quickly beginning to pack up what he could into the suitcases, collecting up stray papers and documents, the various tools they needed to be disguised and blend into the rest of society. "Um...David, I..." He started, hoping to apologize, hoping that he could somehow make the older man forgive him.

David nodded when his boyfriend acknowledged his order and started to pack as he'd been told, but he couldn't really deal with worrying about the younger mans emotional state right now they needed to get out of here fast. He could just be paranoid, but in their line of work paranoia tended to keep you alive because the bad guys in your head were always out to get you at some point in a mission. Especially when you've potentially been made by your target and he was on to the fact that someone was watching him. He glanced over at Matt as the younger man started talking again and shook his head, "Save it. We don't have time" He said firmly, but at least he wasn't being cold or sounding angry with his boyfriend anymore even though he was still pretty ticked off. A few minutes later and the packing was done and he gestured for Matt to come with him, heading to the back of the apartment where the emergency fire escape was and cautiously peered out to make sure no one was there before he opened the window and climbed out, waiting for Matt to follow then pushed the window closed again just in case. Then he lead the way down the fire escape to the ground and from there adopted a casual air, pulling his hood on over his head and just strolling down the alley as if he were in no sort of hurry at all. He didn't speak until they were a few blocks away and then he finally relaxed, having lead a sort of random path where they turned a lot of corners and doubled back a few times to throw off anyone that may have been following them. "Alright, we should be in the clear now. I have to contact Michael and let him know we may have been compromised and see if he has another safehouse for us. You stay here while I do that" He ordered, pointing to a park bench as he pulled his cell out and dialed their boss, intending on walking a bit away if Matt obeyed but if his boyfriend didn't he'd stay there and glare at him while speaking to their CIA handler.
