Mistakes in the upbringing (For Jinchu)

Sandy Collins was nervously waiting. She wasn't sure if she is doing the right thing but knew for sure that everything must change.
She was beautiful woman and although she was 35 years old only she had a 17 year old son, Kevin. He used to be a very pretty baby and she never could refuse any of his desires. But now he was a teenager and, worst of all, a rather disrespectful, careless, rude one. His behavior was a complete disaster and Sandy couldn't help it.
She was divorced with the father of the boy, and some of her friends supposed Kevin's misdeeds to be a result of a lack of a father's firm hand. They suggested sending him to a military academy, and Sandy constantly threated him with it, but she wasn't ready for such a harsh action.
Finally someone gave her a number of a man who was a professional disciplinarian. Sandy hesitated for a long time, but the last son's misconducts made her to change her mind.
The disciplinarian could be here any minute.
Sandy quietly sighed. She didn't told Kevin about that visit and had no idea how he will react.

Meanwhile Kevin was in his room, watching TV (mostly, actually, just looking at the celling, but TV was on). The room was in a mess, and the boy had to upcoming tests, not to mention regular homework, but Kevin just didn't want to do anything at the moment. That was nis normal state.

He realised, that baf grades would lead to troubles in school, and he might not go to college and his futute life blablabla, all that his mom and teachers told him so often. Kevin wasn't stupid. But he didn't really care. He felt like everything will be all right just... by itself, as it always was. "Responsibility" and "consequences" were nothing more then the words from a dictionary for Kevin.

He was a pretty young man, with no signs of the beard on the chin yet, with shoulder-lenght brown hair, dargreen eyes and a cute smile. At the moment Kevin was wearing a t-shirt with famous metal band's print, jeans and sneakers (yes, though he was laying on the bed!). He heared the doorbell ringing, but didn't move - it's mom business to open doors...

Little did he know, that behind the door awaited his doom - the professional disciplinator. in a last few years many parents found out, that soft and ultra-soft methods of upbringing, that were so advised previously, don't work really well, and some psyhologists started to - npt very loudly - talk about spankings being natural and necessary element of upbringing. And so his business was created - to help people, who lost skills of disciplining naughty kids.

He was an athletic man, 31-32 years old apparently, looking good, but rather ordinarily. The disciplinator was holding a grip-sack (wich also looked very ordinarily) filled with implements of his profession.

He waited patiently untill someone would open the door...

Sandy thought she better talk to that disciplinator on her own at first just to see if he isn't some kind of pervert. Also she still didn't know how to tell Kevin about incoming changes in his life, so she didn't call him.
She opened the door and saw a man with a drip-sack. He could easily be taken as a traveling salesman, but she didn't even think that he can be the wrong man.
"Please, come in" she said. "Maybe you want some coffee or tea?"
Sandy gave a quick look to a man, then she asked.
"Are you the man? The… disciplinator, aren't you?"

[Jinchu]

"Good afternoon, Mrs. Collins." the man said, coming in. "A cup of tea would be nice, thank you.." He took off his topcoat and placed the grip-sack on the floor. "I am the specialist in discipline and education. My name is Adam Fox, ma'am. Let's drink some tea and discuss your problems."

[Gyrkin]

He looked very reasonable and Sandy decided she made the right choice when called him.
"I'll be right back" she said and returned in couple of minutes with who cups of tea and a plate of cookies.
"Nice to meet you, Adam" she said. "I am Sandy, we had a phone talk. It's about my son, Kevin. He used to be such a good boy, but now he is a complete disaster. He has awful marks, had been suspended twice this year and skipping classes all the time. And he is so rude these days. He can return home late at night and not to tell, where he was. I don't know what to do with him anymore. He is like a changeling, not a real Kevin."

[Jinchu]

"Thank you, Mrs. Collins... Sandy." Adam said, taking the cookie. He listened to her with a serious look, very attentivly. "That sounds like a serious case. But are you sure that your son changed so suddenly, without a reasone? Was he well-behaved amd responsible previously? Wonderful cookies, Sandy" he sipped some tea. "I have to ask a few question to understand the situation better. At what age Kevin started to have obligatory chores to do? Did he always do his homework before now? Did he ever had bad grades before now and what was your reaction to that? What were the most common punishments you used?" To the attetive listener could notice, that those questions sounded like mister Fox suspected what he'll hear in response...

[Gyrkin]

"Erm…" Sandy said. She sipped her tea, than chuckled. "I guess your job affects you a lot. I've had a goose back right now, you know."
She was going to say yes to a question about sudden change of Kevin, but then Adam asked more questions and she decided to wait with her final verdict.
"Well, let's see… He really doesn't have any chores. And time after time I let him to skip him homework when he wanted to see some movie. Buy not some trash, it always were great movies, so I think they can be taken as some form of education too. He never did perfect, you see, teachers always disliked him, so… I tried to ground him, but he ran away that very night and returned next morning only. I was afraid that he won't come back the next time, so didn't punish him anymore. Sometimes I promise I would sent him to a military academy, but it doesn't affects him much."

[Jinchu]

"So, basically, Kevin never had any duties, you've never demended anything from him, including things he was supposed to do at school, and he've never got punished." Adam summed up and drunk some more tea. That sounded a lot like a reproach, but the disciplinator didn't elaborate upon the subject. Instead he put his empty cup on the cofee table and said. "Well, let's go talk with Kevin..." He stood up, but turned to Mrs. Collins again. "One more thing, Sandy. Do we both see my mission here in the same way? I'm here to spank your son, right? That's a painful and embarrassing procedure, which he certainly wouldn't like, but it will help him to be better persone and change his life. If that's not what you want, let me know and I'll leave your house, no money for the call. Othervise - let's go to Kevin."

[Gyrkin]

"Y-yes, I guess" said Sandy. For a moment she felt like Adam was going to slap her but that feeling shaded in a moment.
"I want him to be a better person. I know how you discipline kids, and I believe it is the only thing that can help Kevin."
She stood up.

So Adam did. He took his bag with him and followed the women to her son's room. She gently knocked and then entered a room.
"Kevin, honey" she called him as they both walked into one of the most dirty rooms Adam had faced before.

Obviously, Kevin never bothered to clean his room - or at least to put things on their places, and his mom couldn't clean it often eniugh by herself. The comics were lying on the floor, table, in boy's bed, his school textbooks and copybooks made an ugly pile in the corner (mostly Kevin just put random textbooks in his schoolbag, he didn't use them much anyway), a few pairs of dirty underwear and socks could be seen on the gloor and the chair... Walls were covered with posters of music bands and hot chicks from computer games.

Kevin raised his head for a moment, but didn't see anything interesting and looked at the celling again. "Mom, don't you see I'm watching the movie?" Technically, there was some horror movie in the TV on, yes. "And who is this guy? If he's going to talk about my future career or my bad gtades in maths, chase him away..."
