Places: Dryad Groves
Dryads grow by tending to unique patches of flora called groves. The plants in these areas grow stronger than normal plants do, and in exchange for the benefits the dryads give by caretaking, they themselves grow in resiliance, health, and status. Once dryads have spent a sufficient amount of time in a grove, they are able to 'unroot' themselves from it, and travel on, but in the meantime their entire beings - body, mind, and soul, are inextricably linked to every blade of grass and slender twig in the area. It is in fact rare for dryads to leave one grove to start another simply because of the risks inherent in setting down roots somewhere only to then find out it isn't safe.
Dryads are, as a result, extremely territorial and defensive - they can be quite diplomatic, but because of the great sensitivity they have to mistreatment of their homes, will rarely exhibit patience once intruders have already crossed into their territory.
