The Adventures of a Bratty Mage

Amelie the would-be-mage looked down at the frozen creek and said, "Shit."

She looked up and around her at the summertime foliage and the bright sunshine. A short distance away she heard a distressed "Ungggh. Unggghhhh!" sound. When she investigated, she discovered that a deer that had bent down to drink from the creek had gotten its tongue frozen in the new, unseasonable ice.

"Shit, shit, shit," said Amelie.

She'd thought she had the spell right. It was supposed to take the water in the creek down far enough that she could walk across without going the long way round to the bridge. Once the creek was frozen, she could walk across all right, but not the way she'd had in mind!

Ohhhh . . . Averlain was going to kill her.

Sir Averlain, Amelie's knight and lover, was currently waiting for her to arrive. He'd told her to be at the castle at eleven on the nose. She was late. Very late.

So, yes, she was already in trouble. Things got worse for her when a scout arrived with news of a frozen lake.

"Sir, this is obviously the work of magic. Somebody is using it to cause trouble, and-" the man started, before Averlain stopped him.

"This is the work of my dear, beloved Amelie. Find her, and get her here. She's going to be a very sad mage when I'm through."

The sun was dipping toward the west by the time the scout found Amelie, or by the time they found each other. She had managed to chop the deer loose with a sharp-edged stone, but it had run away with a sizeable chunk of ice still in its mouth. Presumably, the ice would melt.

Presumably.

But there were still fish and frogs frozen in the creek's clear ice, and heaven knew if they were going to recover or not. If the local people lost their late summer and autumn take of water creatures, there would be hell to pay.

As soon as Averlain's scout saw her, the man pointed and said, "You."

"Me?" Amelie asked disbelievingly, her hands pressed against her chest.

"Get over here. Sir Averlain is furious," said the scout.

Ohhhhh, Amelie reflected. Was she ever going to get it!

The scout hauled her up onto his horse and set off in the direction of the castle. "On second thought . . . let's turn around," Amelie said, giving the man her best beguiling smile. "I just realized I forgot something back at my cottage."

"Forgot your common sense, most like," the man grunted. "No, Sir Averlain told me to bring you to him immediately, and that is what I will do."

Shit, she thought. Stupid, stubborn scouts.

As they rode off, she would notice an elder mage approaching the lake, ready to thaw it, and save the situation.

Back at the castle, Averlain stood in his study. The man, in his late twenties, was the head knight. As such, he recieved a nice lodging compared to most. He paced about, ready to turn his little brat into the sorriest little woman in all of the kingdom.

On the desk in front of him, were several stages of torment. His leather bottom slipper, bought explicitly for this reason. Then, Amelie's brush, her name burned into the back. Finally, several switches lay on the desk, for a lasting impression.

The scout half-led, half-hauled Amelie to Averlain's study. Finally, the scout deposited her on the threshold of the study, and knocked loudly on the door. Amelie tried to take advantage of the scout's momentary distraction, and attempted to bolt. He grabbed her and dragged her back by her ear.

And that was the sorry state Averlain found his young lover in when he opened the door: half bent over, fair hair spilling everywhere, and a pained grimace on her reddened face.

"Thank you, my friend." Averlain said, and relieved his scout of the young brat. Taking Amelie's ear in his own hand, he hauled the girl inside, locking the door behind her. "Do you realize how much trouble you are in, young lady?" he scolded her, walking her towards the desk, where her punishment implements awaited.

"I-it was a mistake! It wasn't supposed to freeze . . ." she pled, backing away from the punishment implements as much as she was able. "Please, Averlain, don't spank me. I swear, it was just a mistake!" She tried to turn her head to look pleadingly into his eyes, but he kept a solid hold on her ear, which made looking directly at him impossible.

"You will not be sitting comfortably for a nice long while, little miss." he scolded her, and turned her to stand before him. "Strip bare, and place your hands on your head. If you attempt to flee when I release your ear, I will change your punishment to the brush, followed by your cane."

Amelie gasped. She definitely didn't want the cane! Reluctantly, she obeyed Averlain, pulling her simple gown up over her head, and then setting about undoing her corset and petticoat strings. Miserably, she even took her stockings off, until she was as bare as Averlain required. Then she stood naked in front of him, her hands before her fuzzy blond triangle the only thing between Averlain's gaze and her eighteen-year-old body. He'd seen her vaginal area plenty of times, but somehow being on punishment made her feel awkward and shy.

"Hands on your head, little miss." he ordered again, picking up the slipper, and sitting in his chair, making her stand right in front of him.
