Artistic Discussion: What's your favourite part of drawing a drawing?
This section is just sooo under-utilised~
So I'll ask the question, predominantly for artists or the artistically inclined...
What is your favourite part of drawing, when you're drawing?
Or what is your favourite part of the process of drawing?
For me, I absolutely adore the sketching, especially when I'm doing the really early SD-chibiform characters, trying to figure out how I'll lay out the pages and letting them evolve.
Because I come back and do it digitally afterwards I'll often rearrange my hand-sketches or move panels around (or inside other panels) to make it look slightly better or what in my head passes for 'more actiony' but in my mind the most fun part is the sketching at the start - I enjoy that more than any other part.
Following that, if I had to admit my perversion - the next part is the bust or cleavage.
I do adore drawing it and although its perhaps a minor faux-pas for an artist to feel turned-on a tad at their own drawings the aspect I enjoy the most is drawing and colouring the boobs of my characters - especially if they're especially busty and doubly if they're wearing clothes; more so than topless.
I can't say what it is about that, the presentation aspect perhaps?
Could any other artists or otherwise kindly share their favourite moments of the process and the competion of the article?

I have to say is quite a process, starting with the idea, the searching for the references, the search for the right pose (in the bank of pre-made poses yes I have this and I repeat them) the actual drawing by hand and a blue pencil, the inking done again by hand, scanning the image, cleaning the line work, applying the base colors, adding the shading shadows volumes and high lights, then the final assembly of the image…
It took around five hours to do one image, usually done in several days, is really rare when I do an image in one sitting. but of all of this process the part that I most enjoy is the shading, the magic moment when all the color layers are ready for the shadows and the high lights, is when I use my digital tablet, is when I open the winamp start the random music list and I just go to the zone, the first I do is the bottom if the tushy is not perfect I repeat until is perfect, desirable… spankeable…
The second one is when I just finish the blue pencil work and I just realize that I nailed the image, some times is when I discard the image and star again because something does not feel right…
The least I enjoy is mechanic process, scanning, cleaning the lines and setting the color layers, is time consuming but pays with sharp lines and very nice clean artwork.
Also I don’t like the inking process, and this is because the tools I use, I haven’t find a the perfect one, I use an Stabilo pen but it just give me one size of lines, and I would like something more rich, more organic, I used to use a dipping pen but it have is problems. For years I have try several tools to do this task and no one was fulfill the expectations, meanwhile the lovely lady at the art supply store always show me the newest tools that arrives to the store and most of the time I try them, with not very convincing results.
I hope someday I will get one of those tablets where you can draw directly on the screen (like the Wacom companion) I have the idea that such device will release me from the paper, translate all the process in to one media and somehow cut the time invested in one image… but it is just fantasy… for now

Hmm, I think it's simply drawing the sketches, putting my ideas on paper,
but I enjoy coloring it as well, even though that's more time consuming.

I like it when a plan comes together quickly. Sometimes you spend hours messing with something and can't make it look right, other times you do a ten minute sketch and it's basically perfect. I draw because the latter. Doesn't happen often but when it does, it's a big boost and makes you want to draw more stuff.

I think it's the sketching as well. That's when the idea comes together and I figure out what I want to do with the drawing. Everything after that, the inking and coloring, is just an epilogue.

I can pinpoint a few high moments in almost any of my drawings:
First one, THE IDEA! I must draw this, nao! The idea for me usually consists of a strong feeling of either mood and atmosphere or action; I pick the other to match.
Second exciting step is nailing the pose in a sketch. Ink (or not), scan, and it's ready to color (or not).
The third high is when the image dramatically gains character through high contrast shading, after a few hours of editing and working with flat color, and somewhat of a loss of direction.
The final fourth is when I realize it is done and ready to be posted to AOTK
Also there are occasionally unscheduled awesome moments when you inadvertently draw a cooler-than-usual shape during the sketching or come up with a new color trick.

Well when it comes to normal art I love the fealing I get that I am creating something, I love the smell of pencil shavings, I love seeing it slowly come together.
What I hate about my artwork... when I finish and it doesn't look as good as I wanted and it angers me. I draw landscapes mainly not the best at shading
