does anyone play Maple Story? It's a free MMO with adorable chibi characters. it's totally clean (there's a profanity filter) and it's just fun.

Crud. I swear my computer likes to rub things in my face. I'm trying to save up for a new gaming PC so I can get back into City of Heroes/Villains among other things and I saw this post and remembered I wanted to try out Maple Story. So I go over there and I go to download the game and it tells me my comp can't run it. *sigh*

Anyway is the game good? I thought the idea of a side scrolling MMO sounded neat but I had no idea how it would actually play out.

I kinda like, yet hate Maple Story with such a fiery passion...it's such a pain to level up past level 30, and it gets even worse when you want to level up past level 50+. It may have cutesy art and other "cute" appealing things, but it definitevaly isn't a game to play if you easily get bored or aren't much patient.

Also, just for the "lulz", a Maple Story anime is going to come out soon. I will watch it just to laugh my ass off.

Yes, the game is very good, but aki-san is right. it's really hard from lvls 15-22 to progress, because monsters are hard, but once i got the 2nd job advancement at lvl 30, it really got fun again.
quick tutorial:
you go from beginner to a job (archer, thief, warrior, or mage) at around lvl 10. each class has special skills. at lvl 30, each job branches into specialties, where you get even cooler skills. then at lvl 70 you get the 3rd job advancment. there's a 4th job advancement, but it's only available in Korea right now.

if you get bored, find an active guild to join. you gotta make your own fun
