Elder Scrolls: An Unwordly Visitor
"Gather your devotion, my kin, remember what you're fighting for, less the Elder Scroll take your life." At the instructions of her master, the Dovah closed her eyes and started at the beginning.
Skyrim, one of nine provinces in the realm of the mortals; which is also known as Tamriel. The other provinces are known as Morrowind, Black Marsh, Summerset Isle, Valenwood, Elsweyr, Hammerfell, High Rock, and Cyrodiil. Each of these provinces have something special that set them apart, and often, this special thing was in fact the people that lived there.
In Morrowind, the Dunmer (also known as Dark-Elves) rule with a fiery first. These ashen-skinned, red-eyed elves are gifted with an innate ability for destruction. Fire pours from their fingers tips and devours any enemy that dares oppose them. In the Black Marsh, the Argonian, a reptilian race controls the never-ending muddy swamps. Once slaves to the Dunmer, they now thrive in their homeland with their ability to breathe underwater and hardy nature. In the Summerset Isle lived another type of elven people known as the Altmer. They were gifted in every aspect of magic and could live to be up to a thousands years old. Currently, they're superior intelligence and talents made them one of the most powerful nations in Tamriel. Then then was Valenwood, where the last of the elven people lived and hunted. Known as the Bosmer, they have the eyes of a crow, the speed of a Saber tooth cat, and the ferocity of a bear.
Next was Hammerfell, where the Redguard lived and prospered. They, like the Dunmer, have darker skin, along with a natural resistance to poison and disease due to the plagues that used to ravish their villages. Then there was her own homeland, High Rock, where she was raised by her mother and father.
Her parents...It was them who gave her long white hair, which framed her light-skinned face and complimented her glowing green-eyes. It was they who gave the curse of being short. It was they who, being Bretons, gave her an unnatural thirst for learning and mastering magic. She learned at a rate that many could only wish to do, her blood and ancestry making every spell come to her a thousand times easier.
Shaking her head, she continued her inspection of the world she was desparately trying to save. The Eight province was known as Cyrodiil. Cyrodiil, home to the Imperials, houses the Emperor of Tamriel...or used too.
...
...
...
She shook her head, not wanting to get distracted by the bag of worms that would open up. Finally, there was Skyrim, which housed the tall and mighty warriors know as Nords. Her fate was intertwined with this province, that much she had learned since coming here.
...
Her fate...as Dragonborn. Coming to Skyrim, her goal has been to advance to the next level in her magic, but then this dragon business got out of hand. Alduin, history's most powerful dragon and the one foretold to end the world, had returned. Using his power, he traveled to various burial grounds and began reviving his brethren. Lysona, by chance, discovered that she was Dragonborn after defeating a dragonborn. She absorbed its soul, ending its life for good. It was after that she discovered that not only could she understand dragons, but that by slaying them she could absorb their power and prevent them from being revived ever again.
In other-words, she was the only one who could stand up to Alduin.
"My kin, have you thought about what you hold dear?" Asked Paarthunax. Lysona noted the weary way he held himself, his massive form trembling in a exhaustion that came from old age. Lysona couldn't imagine living for the thousands of years that he had, especially not in solitude. Lysona nodded, and so the dragon urged her now. "Good, then use the Elder Scroll and learn the word of power that will put an end to Alduin's reign. You must hurry, I am sure that he has noticed the signs and is on his way here to stop you." The evil creature warned.
Lysona nodded. "I'll have to hurry then." Walking towards the time ripple, which was created by the presence of the powerful item in her possession, Lysona removed the Elder Scroll that was strapped to her robes. The golden scroll glowed with power (power that event the gods feared), and with a determined expression, pulled it open. The action sparked a wave of power to be emitted and Lysona's soul was sent hurtling through time.
The process, although disorienting, went smoothly, and as she observed the past warriors take on Alduin (and fail), she strained her mind to memorize the shout they used. It was difficult, as she wasn't used to learning them this way, but by the time their battle ended and Alduin had been sent forward in time by the Elder Scroll (the same one she now held), Lysona was confident that she could perform it. The effect of the scroll faded as she accomplished her goal and she returned to the present.
"I've learned it...Dragonrend." Lysona said to Paarthunax. The Dragon's attention did not seem to be on her though. Following his line of sight, Lysona stiffened. There was an unconscious...person...on the snow, dressed in the strangest clothing Lysona had ever seen.

"I feel...."
"....It's...cold....it feels...." cam the thoughts of said unconscious girl as she slowly began to open her eyes only to greet the falling snow...and the fact that she was lying in snow. "Hmm...it's...supposed to be summer...why am is it so...c-c-cold...?!" she suddenly thought as eyes snapped open and she sat up immediately, hugging herself and freezing, shivering. "Why is it so cold?! It's supposed to be summer!!" she groaned, certainly not dressed for weather like this.
She looked down at her shaking figure, just with leggings and sneakers, and shirt that just barely went down to meet her hips. Her middle back raven hair fell back down into place, causing more snow to brush up against her pale cheeks. "Gh...w-where the hell am I...?!"

The Breton woman cursed the gods at seeing another person there, which shouldn't even be possible. The reason for that was that their current location was at the Throat of the World, the tip of the tallest mountain in Tamriel. Only the strongest creatures, such as dragons could scale it. Then there were people like her, who by using the voice could clear the way. Currently, however, the only others were the Greybeards, who would only come when summoned by Paarthunax. They would definitely not bring someone up here, not in their desperation to keep Paarthanux's existence a secret.
"Dov," Paarthanux croaked. "You must hurry and hide the mortal. Alduin will be here soon." Those were the Breton woman's thoughts exactly. Alduin would slaughter the girl in the snow, without hesitation and the Dragonborn could not protect her and defeat the evil being. Thankfully, the raging snow would not be a problem to the girl's health, despite her lack of warm clothes.
Hurriedly, cursing the gods once more, she knelt down to the girl. "What are you doing here-No time for that!" She cut herself off. Picking the girl up from the snow, Lysona gathered up some of her magicka and pushed it into the young girl. Then she rounded a large rock, setting the girl there. "Don't move less you wish to die. My spell will keep you warm."
Leaving the girl behind the rock, Lysona returned to the center of the mountain's peak, her staff at the ready as she breathed in and out. Closing her eyes, she could feel a powerful presence approaching at a rapid pace. It was undoubtedly Alduin. Opening her eyes, she prepared herself, summoning the knowledge of Dragonrend to her mind.
"Dragonborn!" Alduin, the king of dragons, screeched as he flew over the mountain, landing right in front of her. It's large, red demonic eyes locked onto the Elder Scroll on her back. "You used the Elder Scroll."
Lsyona nodded. "That's right!" She said, her voice taking on a harsh, demonic edge as she spoke in the voice of the dragon. "And with it, I've learned the key to your defeat." The mage claimed. Alduin snorted.
Paarthunax spoke next. "Alduin, your defeat will be here!" He claimed, flapping his wings and taking to the sky. Alduin rose to meet the challenge, both dragons roaring at one another, their voices bringing their power to the forefront of reality. Alduin with fire and Paarthunax with ice. They both rotated the words they used, the battle mostly equal.
As they flew, Lsyona's keen eyes could detect Paarthunax's small losses. The dragon was old and weary and even in his youth would not have been a match for Alduin's might. But he didn't need to be. He had her.
Taking in a breath, Lysona roared. "Joor-Zah-Frul!" A blue sphere left her mouth and enveloped Alduin, forcing him to land. Such was the power of Dragonrend. It ripped away a dragon's ability to fly, forcing it to fight on the ground-a mortal's divination.
Not wasting anytime, Lysona cast a spell. "Firestorm." A powerful tornado of fire emerged from her staff, slamming into Alduin, who roared in pain. Lysona struggled to keep it going, her magicka reserves draining rapidly. In the end, it was not her reserves that broke the spell. Instead Alduin's will was strong enough to break through Dragonrend and he took to the skies once again, releasing shouts of fire, ice, and lightning. This time they were directed at Lysona, as Alduin now recognized her as the biggest threat in the battle.
Lysona raised her staff, casting a barrier. The fire rained down on it, scorching the ground around it and melting the snow within a dozen feet. Lysona could feel the heat even with her shield. Lysona was struggling to keep the shield charged, but fortunately, her ally had her back. Paarthunax, feeling recovered in the time he spent out of the battle, broke Alduin's concentration by slamming into him. Lysona, using the time he bought, reached into her magical bag, summoning a magicka potion. Drinking it, she felt her reserves replenish. Energy returned, Lysona summoned Alduin to the ground once more.
"Joor-Zah-Frul!" Lysona called out, forcing Alduin to the ground more. He struggled the entire way, but was powerless to her Thu'um. Trapped on the ground, he tried to bite her, his head shooting out and his ferocious teeth trying to dig into her. Lysona rolled out of the way, the edges of her robe getting caught and torn. Alduin wasn't giving up, it turned quickly, hitting her with his tail and causing her staff to fly off the mountain.
"Curses!" Lysona cried out. Without her staff, she would be forced to use more primitive means. In other words, she now had to cast spells without her staff. Fortunately, the Blades has pointed this out and she had crafted just the spell for this.
"Bound Sword." A black sphere appeared in her hands, morphing into a long, thin sword. Lysona swiped the air a few times. Then, allowing the magic to guide her, she charged forward, trying to draw blood. Alduin's scales proved to be strong though, and Lysona was forced to release the spell and call another barrier, less she get fried to death.
"I have to get under him." Lysona knew. Alduin's scales were too powerful. However, if she could get at his soft underbelly, then he would take a battle ending hit. Running at him, she met his eyes. He seemed confused, but realization dawned as she slid on her knees, stopping right under him. Calling upon her magic, Lysona unleashed another Firestorm, the powerful fire wave causing Alduin to take flight. This time, however, he fled, his form aflame.
Lsyona stood up, running to the edge of the mountain. "Get back here, Alduin!" She screamed, angrily. His form disappeared though, not returning. "Damn the gods, he got away!" She cursed, the short Breton numbly walking to the dragon stone. The dragon stone was a rectangular stone with carvings of shouts. Paarthunax met her there.
"It seems he has fled for the time being. Undoubtedly, to nurse his strength." The old dragon said wisely.
Lysona nodded. "So it seems." Her hands clenched and her face screwed up in anger. "I almost had him too! Now I have to hunt him and defeat him." Neither would be an easy task and at this rate, she would be without the help of Paarthunax. "What do you suggest, I do?"
Paarthunax hummed. "Finding him will not be easy. His trusted allies undoubtedly know where he has fled. If you can capture one then you will be able to discern his location. I seem to recall that Dragonsreach has once held a dragon."
Lysona sighed. "Yes, because Balgruff will be so eager to house a dragon in his hold. In the end, I have no choice." It seemed that a trip to Whiterun was in order. However, Lysona knew that it would be no easy task to convince a Jarl to hold a dragon. As she prepared to go down the mountain, Lysona remembered.
"Hey, girl. You can come out now!" She called out. The girl had been completely out of her mind. Hopefully she hadn't been blown off the mountain...

The girl was still confused as she looked around, the area looked barren and strange to her, as if she was out in the wild. She was so stiff from being caught off guard that she just stared down at her feet shivering. She didn't even a get a chance to acknowledge the others there in the area with her, nor could she hear the voices. The only thing she wanted to know was where she was, how she got there and could she go home?!
Thoughas the sounds of an approaching person, she saw Lysona and instantly felt relieved to see another person. Although, she was dressed so strangely, it was as if she was seeing something out a fantasy, but there was no time to question appearances. When asked what she was doing here, the girl, named Larissa, began to speak. "I-I don't know...I just...I..." before she could try and fumble more words, she was interrupted by the older woman, who looked rather frantic.
She was about to ask more questions, only to gasp in surprise as she was picked up and taken, though too cold to squirm she only protested. "H-hey! Y-you can't just...I don't even know who you are and you can't just whisk me off to...!" only to blink as as she suddenly felt warmer, as if she wasn't in the snow anymore.
Larissa was completely confused, she didn't have time to ask what was going once she was set down behind the big rock and heard Lysona's warning to her. It wasn't the warning to stay put or perish that caught her off guard, it was the mention that it was spell that was keeping her warm. "A-A spell...h-hey, wait come back! What the hell do you mean it's a...wha....uhh...!" she almost followed Lysona out, but then she saw the dragons and was at a loss for words. "D...d-dragons...there are d-dragons and I'm...surrounded..."
Larissa kept herself hidden behind the rock, her heart never beating so far in her life as she could hear the events of the battle even from behind the rock, so many terms that were foreign to her...it was as if life was playing a game with her and it was NOT fun...it was almost as if these were one of those online games that she knew nerds would play on their free time, but now it was like she was stuck in this fantasy world. "(W-Why me...w-what did I do wrong...a-am I hallucinating...did I eat something funny...i-it all has to be some crazy dream...y-yeah...just bad Thai, that's all...)" she thought to convince herself, waiting for the battle to end.
She sat, back to the rock as she held herself in fetal position, closing her eyes as she tried to wake up from this...and soon all grew quiet, she could not longer hear the sounds of battle, maybe, she would wake up now. But she only heard Lysona's voice again, telling her that it was safe to come out. Her eyes snapped open. "I-I'm still here...w-why can't I wake up already?!"

When the girl didn't come out right away, Lsyona grew annoyed. Briskly strutting towards the rock, her hardened face softened at the sight of the girl curled up in a fetal position. Having been through hell the last few weeks, Lysona forgot that not everyone was immune to her lifestyle, especially such a young girl. "Hey, there." She murmured, kneeling down. Her while locks framed her face, and despite the soot and ash on her face, she was quite pretty. "Everything is okay. The dragon is gone..." Lysona was trying to be comforting, but she wasn't putting her all into it. She still didn't understand how the girl had gotten here in the first place.
What magic could...damn! The stupid Elder Scroll on her back! It must have somehow brought the girl here. Sighing, she stood up. "Come on, get up." She told the girl. She wanted to be more sympathetic, but there wasn't enough time. Every second counted at this point. "Paarthunax." She called out, removing the Elder Scroll from her back. "While I go to Whiterun and request assistance of the Jarl, I want you to guard the Elder Scroll. It's too powerful for me to just carry around."
The aging dragon agreed. "As you wish dov. I assume you will be returning, then?"Lysona nodded.
"Of course. You haven't told me how to attract a dragon to Whiterun, after all. I will go to Whiterun and gain the Jarl's compliance." Lysona placed the scroll on the ground gently, hesitantly. It was hard to just place such a powerful item on the ground. Returning her eyes to the giant rock, where the girl hid behind, she called out. "I'm leaving. If you want off this mountain, then this is your only chance." Not too mention her spell would wear off soon, so the girl would die from either frost or hunger first. Most likely the former.

Larissa quickly snapped back into reality as she saw Lysona come closer and kneel down closer, trying to reassure her that the dragon was gone. She couldn't really force words out, she just nodded.
When told to get up, she was half listening as she was still processing everything. "S-So it's all real...t-that was really a freakin' dragon...a-and then another one...r-right there!" she thought as she saw the elderly Paarthunax. She pinched herself, multiple times, all stifling a small yelp, just hoping that one of them she wouldn't feel a thing so she could confirm that it wasn't real. But it was...the snow, the pain, it was all real.
"W-Wait...!" Larissa stumbled to her feet and ran out from behind the rock and approached Lysona, if this was her only chance to get out here, then she had to take it, she needed to find out where she was, she needed to go home. Soon she was directly in front of the older woman, panting as she caught her breath, holding her shaky knees. "T-The...d-dragons...a-and the spells...and the...muh...ugh....w-who are you...? W-Where am I...?!" it was probably a little rude to be asking so many questions when this woman saved her life when she didn't have too, but curiosity and fear got the better of Larissa.

The threat of being left behind seemed to get the young girl moving, as she ran up to Lysona. The girl's face was flushed and her eyes were slightly moist, from the snow or tears, Lysona wasn't sure. The girl fumbled, asking a lot of incoherent questions. Fortunately, Lysona was good at deducing and figured out what she was trying to say. "You're at the Throat of the World," Lysona explained, stopping there. No one needed more information after that. The Throat of the World was the tallest mountain in all of Tamriel, and thus, everyone had at least heard of.
Starting a brisk walk again, Lysona walked down the same uneven grounds she had scaled to get here. As she went down, she noticed a blizzard blocking their path. The hail and snow were hitting the mountain side with such force that some gravel actually broke off. And like all of Skyrim's strange storms, it stopped at a random spot, not a single piece of ice going over an invisible line. One day, Lysona would study this phenomenon extensively. But today was not that day. Looking up, she noted the dark storm clouds. There weren't too many, thankfully. "Lok-Vah!" Lysona shouted, a blast of energy shooting from her mouth and causing the clouds-and blizzard- to disappear. The sun now shone, providing some warmth to the two females going downwards.
Warmth, Lysona remembered. Putting a hand on the girl's shoulder, she reset the warming spell with a murmur. "Not many come to Skyrim so poorly dressed. Did you forget your hide?" It wasn't after all, just this mountain that was cold. Skyrim was known for its freezing temperatures and snow storms. It attracted all sorts of strange creatures that loved the cold. If it wasn't for the abundance of resources and areas bursting with magic, then Lysona thought that Skyrim would be completely uninhabited.
As the storm was now gone, there was nothing else that blocked their way and soon they reached High Hrothgar. High Hrothgar was a massive building, which betrayed the number of people actually inside. Inside was the Greybeards, Masters of the Voice, and Lysona's teachers since she had discovered her power. There was only so much they could teach her though, not being Dragonborn themselves. The Greybeards never left the giant building, except maybe to take a walk in their snowy "backyard" (which she and the girl were standing in). Entering through the gigantic back door, which was half the size of the buidling (and really heavy), Lysona noted that they were already there to greet her. Like always, they wore their robes and hoods, casting dark shadows on their faces. Their grey beards fell to their chests. All in all, their appearance gave off a pretty scary visage. And they had the power to back it up, as well.
"Dragonborn," Argnier greeted. "I saw Alduin fleeing. I assume defeating him was a failure?" He asked.
Lysona nodded. "Alduin fled after I hit him with a flame based spell. However, Paarthunax and I have come up with a plan. I will go to Jarl Balgruff in Dragonsreach and ask him to help us capture one of Alduin's allies. From there, I'll go to his hiding spot and defeat him."
Argnier hummed. "I see. However, I don't think Jarl Balgruff will be so eager to house a dragon, especially in the midst of a civil war..." He stopped, for the first time noticing the girl following behind Lysona. "It seems we have a visitor. Is she a companion of yours?" He asked. Lysona looked at the girl beside her, having also forgotten her presence.
"For now. She suddenly appeared shortly before Alduin arrived while I was learning Dragonrend." Lysona subtly conveyed. Argnier, as the leader of the Greybeards, was intelligent and instantly understood. The Elder Scroll...what power, he thought.
"I see. You both are welcome to spend the night here before setting out for Whiterun." Argneir said. He went to leave, but was stopped by Lysona.
"Argnier, I would like to request any assistance that the Greybeards can give. We're so close to defeating Alduin, all I need is the cooperation of the Jarl and then..." She trailed off.
Argnier sighed. "Very well. The Greybeards will offer any aid that we can. Send a courier if you need assistance and we will respond positively." He vowed.
The Greybeards left, allowing the hallway to have more space. Lysona, exhausted, took a seat on one of the stone benches, leaning against the cold, hard wall. She looked at the girl, examining her.

"Throat of the World...?" that term seemed so foreign to Larissa as she continued to follow Lysona, she didn't act too many questions, but the thought still remained in her mind. Did she somehow beneath the surface of the earth, almost eaten up and swallowed as she ended up here where most thing were prehistoric to her. But again, she did not say anything. Of course oblivious to everything around her until she suddenly heard Lysona's shout and she stopped moving to see the blast emerge from her mouth and turn the stormy sky into a warmer climate.
It became a little too hot with the addition of Lysona's spell that kept her warm in the beginning, but once that was removed she nodded meekly and paid attention to Lysona's words about her being poorly dressed to deal with Skyrim's conditions. "My...hide...?" she asked, raising a brow. Though her tone was light, she expect a response just yet.
As they arrived at their destination, she merely stayed quiet and looked around between the Greybeards as she listened to the conversation between Lysona and one of them, still thinking that this was completely strange, perhaps this is what's like under the surface. She continued to look around her surrounding, everything was so...old fashioned, but it was then that she noticed Lyson'a observing her after she sat down. "Y...yes...?" she asked. "W-WHy are you looking at me like that...?"

The girl-amusingly enough- fidgeted under Lysona's gaze. It was almost cute, however, Lysona had too much on her mind to amuse herself much longer. "You're strange." The mage said, simply. Lysona had met plenty of odd characters in her life, more so since coming to Skyrim, but this girl topped them with ease. If it wasn't her odd appearance (she clearly wasn't a Nord, nor an Imperial or Breton, or even a Redguard), then it was the fact that the kid had been brought here-somehow- by an Elder Scroll. Lysona wondered if this was apart of some prophecy, but shook that thought away. If it was, Lysona would have heard about it. This was just a kid that had been unlucky enough to be grabbed by the scroll's power.
There was the problem, though, of getting her back home. She clearly wasn't from Skyrim, considering her state of dress. After all, even the stupidest of bandits dressed warmly less they get struck down by the harsh nature of this land.
Lysona continued. "Your state of dress is unlike anything I have ever seen before. You also don't carry a weapon." Tamriel was a dangerous place and only the richest noble children, who had countless of reliable protectors, could afford to go without a weapon. The fact that the girl didn't have a sword or a bow, or even a dagger surprised Lysona. The girl clearly wasn't a mage as her magicka energy was undeveloped. In fact, Lysona would say it was untapped, another anomaly that Lysona felt the desire to study. Everyone's magicka was tapped, most neglected their gift, but it was always there, waiting to be trained. This girl's power felt frozen, however, unusable. The girl could go to a place brimming with magical energy and Lysona could foresee this block still withstanding.
"But enough of that." Lysona finished. "What do you plan to do now? I'm leaving tomorrow at dawn for Whiterun. I can bring you to the base of the mountain first, if you'd like." The Greybeards welcome Lysona, but they wouldn't tolerate another person staying past their welcome. And Lysona couldn't imagine this girl making it too the bottom by herself. Not, when, in fact, there were wolves, trolls, and ice wraiths in plentiful.

Larissa couldn't help but blush and look away at the older woman's quick remark about how she was strange. "(You're the strange one...)" she thought to herself, crossing her arms in a small pout, although from what she has seen, it's clear that she was the one out of place and it bothered her.
Not as much as it bothered her to her criticism after criticism, not only from her attire, which she personally found cute and it only strengthened her pout, but from the fact that she didn't carry a weapon. The girl wasn't one who was particularly a fighter, she was in shape and was a little athletic , but not enough to constitute fighting skill, or even man a weapon, she was more of the 'runner'.
Then when asked what her plans were, she then decided to ask questions. "The base of the mountain...wouldn't my goal be to go up top...?" she asked. "I mean...we were at...or is still at the throat of the world right...so if I were to return to the surface...then wouldn't I have to go as high as I could possibly go...?" she asked, it was clear that she even unfamiliar with the geography and had no idea where to go or what to do. She clearly wouldn't survive alone. "I would have to carry a weapon cause of the dragons right...? But I don't think I could do much....I didn't even known you could do magic like that...like during your fight, that was awesome stuff, it seems like somethin' you would see in an action movie...!"
