Poll: How many people know that you like spanking?

Hey, after reading the "How old were you when you came to peace with your spanking fetish?" I wanted to know how many of us are "closet-spankers." The poll is pretty straight forward, just keep in mind that I'm talking about people you know in real life.

I personally have not told anyone, ever, that I like spanking. I accepted it myself years ago, but I haven't had the nerve to tell anyone yet. I suppose if someone asked me I would be honest, but that would probably mean I wasn't hiding my fetish very well in the first place.

My husband knows, and two close friends know, but only those three people. It was a shared interest between my husband and I, so that was easy.

It was a bit more difficult talking about it with those two friends, but I needed someone other than my husband who I could talk to about that sort of stuff so I figured that I may as well attempt starting a conversation about it.

One of the two friends was a little spooked by the admission, but agreed to listen with an open mind if I wanted to talk about it, and the other admitted to sharing the same interest. I was happy with those outcomes. x)

The people I know in real life are more freaked out about the spanking fetish than they are about the transgenderism...but oftentimes, just both.^^; I had a friend that was somewhat of a masochist, though, and she took it well. I have a small amount of friends who are just like, "Hey, everyone is kinky!"

There's also another group of people I was friends with at one time, that I don't get along with for reasons I want to get into, but really shouldn't. Their idea of what is normal is so full of discrimination, including racism and sexism, that it's disgusting. They think I'm some kind of scandal, and I can't tell most people that I even have a boyfriend muchless say I like spanking and I'm transgender. :P But some do know, and they just think it's disturbing.

The thing is, people tend to worry, I've realized. They think that liking spanking is going to get me hurt. If I were stupid, yeah, I might get hurt. I'd like to think I'm not that stupid and niave. :P

I like my kinky friends. They're the only ones I keep around. XD

My ex-girlfriend and a few friends that are more "openly kinky" (for lack of a better word) know that I like spanking; but my closest friends don't know because most of them seem pretty vanilla. The people that I've told are people that aren't afraid to talk about their fetishes publicly or initiate a conversation about them. But I'm afraid to tell someone that may not relate because I just don't know what they'll say.

I was bored at work over the summer and started browsing through Yahoo! Answers. Some kid had posted a question that basically asked if he was crazy because he liked the idea of spanking, whipping, handcuffs etc. But nothing really shocking. Everyone started telling him he was a psychopath, he needed therapy, etc. And it made me feel really bad. And the other day some of my apartment mates were making fun of masochists and sadists the other day, and I didn't feel like saying anything. It makes me feel like this will always have to be a secret for me and a few select others.

I love my friends, don't get me wrong, but it sucks to feel like I should be ashamed of this part of myself. I can tell that my parents would definitely not understand, and my room-mate would get freaked out.

It would be nice if more of my friends were a little more understanding.

My friends and my best friend knows about it. Along with my Dad. He's not angry, he understands. My mom, maybe a little.

I haven't telled anyone in person. I'm pretty sure I'll tell someone someday, but I still don't have the nerve of doing so.

I haven't told anyone I would be too ashamed and nervous to even look them in eye if I did. Well my sister knows but everything about me and I still have a hard time looking at her if the subject ever comes up. Hopefully one day I will meet someone who I could trust enough to share my fetish with. How I long for that day.....

My husband and a few ex-boyfriends know. My best friends found out by accident when we were in college when they discovered a folder full of spanking cartoons I'd made.

I didn't really have a big problem with them knowing, I'd just never had a reason to bring it up. Then all of a sudden one day, they were poking through my stuff looking for blank D&D character sheets while I was at work and found a folder full of spanko porn. They tease me about it, but in a fun way.
