Osric, Wandering Half-Elf Mage
This character is a retrofit of one I played back here in the distant mists of history. Anyway, here goes:
Name: Osric Talzenheim
Spanking role: Switch - Osric's upbringing left him no stranger to corporal punishment, and he'll accept it to help him grow as well as deal it out. As he grew up, though, he discovered that it could bring pleasure too..
Age: Young adult, early 20s in appearance
Race: Half-elven
Appearance: Osric's looks favour his human parent, with his elven heritage visible in subtle hints. About six-and-a-half feet tall, Osric is slender rather than gangly. His eyes are a piercing sapphire blue, and his pale face is framed by bangs of very light blond hair. His skin is very light in tone, and under moonlight has a faint bluish cast. His ears are unusually long for a human, subtly pointed.
He's always ready with a smile which makes his narrow nose wriggle. He inherited his fashion sense from the enchantress who trained him, and he favours long, flowing dresses in deep shades of blue or green. When more rugged attire is called for, he might wear a dress in sturdy leather over breeches. He always wears a sturdy set of walking boots when travelling, of course. He carries himself with the detatched assuredness that any self-respecting magician should.
Homeland: An out-of-the way rural landscape in a realm of cheery towns and few burgeoning cities, just passing through the High Medieval period.
History: Osric was adopted - more picked up as a foundling - by a powerful, reclusive enchantress. She saw his latent magical abilities and took him on as an apprentice, teaching him the ways of magic, a love of knowledge, and a strong self-discipline (aided by regular, though not unduly harsh, external discipline). Living mostly in seclusion gave the enchantress some odd ideas about fashion, and she felt that dressing the young Osric in her old gowns was perfectly reasonable, a style which has stuck with the young man. In time, Osric's training was complete, and he set out to explore the world and share the gifts of his knowledge.
Job description: Journeyman wizard. His apprenticeship is over, but there's still a world out there to learn from. He's earning his way with minor magical workings; predicting the weather, lifting curses, that sort of thing. His big project is producing an accurate map of his travels..
Transportation: Osric travels along with the caravan on his own two feet, with the aid of his mage-staff. He carries an enchanted tent which seems barely big enough for one person to stand from the outside, but is wide and comfortable within. In an emergency, he can teleport, but usually only to places he's seen in person.
Specialities:
Arcane Historian - Osric is fascinated by the past, the ruins of fallen empires that litter the world, and is quick with a historical parallel for any situation. Some of them might even be remotely accurate. His eagerness to explore the world's history is clearly born out of the clouded nature of his own.
Shared Knowledge - Osric loves to learn new snippets of knowledge and assumes the same of everyone else, regardless of evidence. It's not fair to call him arrogant, but he is not especially good at sensing when someone really doesn't want to hear how "this kind of thing is just like the Tollicker style of the old Kingdom of Jehudri and, furthermore, did you know that..."
