School of Magical Wonders

In the mystical city of Manarina, there is a grand school for magical beings of all kinds. From dragons and fairies, to elves and nymphs

It is the start of a new term, and the many new-comers were gathered in the entry courtyard. Among them, a young Fire Elf looked around in eager excitement and anticipation

In front of the group, between them and the doors of the school, a group of 14 people, dressed in elegant robes. As the group finished filing into the courtyard, a woman dressed in red robes stepped forward and motioned for everyone's attention

"Welcome one and all to our illustrious magic academy" she said "I am Turaga Tahura. We are the Turaga Council" she gestured to the other teachers behind her "We look forward to helping each of you discover your inner magic and help you control your powers

But first, you must be sorted into the Clans. Tahu, Lewa, Pohatu, Onua, Kopaka, Gali, and Takenuva. As each of you comes forward, we will determine which Clan you belong in. Once that is determined, you will remain in the same clan from now until graduation in 7 years"

Rotesra hovered somewhere towards the rear of the queue of youngsters, feeling self-conscious.
She was a fairy, a traveler from Planebud Valley. There, Fairies who possessed powers were so rare as to be almost nonexistent. She was a pretty little creature, as most Fairies of Planebud Valley were, delicate and dainty, with a round face, a pointed chin, big almond eyes and fair hair. She'd been taught that her power, when she grew up, would lie in her comeliness, and that she would marry one of the warlike Sprites.
Now, nothing had changed, as it was likely she would still marry a Sprite when she grew to adulthood - except that she was fairly certain she knew now exactly who would marry her. A young Spriteling had said that he had seen his Silver Mist - the puff of Mist that appeared for every young Sprite at some point in his life to reveal the purpose of his life to him - beside her, and had had a vision of them doing a great thing together. The Prince had declared that it meant Rosetra would one day have powers.
So she was here now, hoping that somehow, she could be trained to find her powers - hoping that she really did have powers, hoping that she, who had never done anything greater than housecleaning, would not fail or disappoint.

"Once you are sorted into a Clan, you will head in to the Grand Hall, where the older students are waiting" Tahura continued "Our Headmaster, the Mata Nui, is also waiting to greet you"

At this point, a tall man in blue robes stepped forward

"It is now time to begin the sorting. I, Turaga Galiro, shall begin with whoever comes forward first. After a few, one of the other Turaga will continue the process, and we shall rotate through until everyone is sorted"

Rotesra hung back still, waiting to be called to join the Lewa clan.

As the group of students slowly dwindled down, and as students got sorted, it soon came to the young Fire Elf

Individually, each pair of Turagas focused their energies, and for the first few, the energy turned red. With each red, the next pair would move in and do the same. As it came to the Tahu Turagas, the energy they showed was green instead

"You are of Tahu Clan" Tahura said as Tahuro handed her a basic set of red robes. The girl then headed into the Grand Hall

Rotesra stood there in silence, feeling alone, knowing she was the only Fairy who hailed from Planebud Valley. Her wings were sore, her legs were tired, and she felt hungry.

Soon, it was down to the last few new studnets. One was sorted into Onua Clan and given black robes, another into Pohatu Clan and given tan robes, and the one just before the young fairy, sorted into Kopaka Clan and given white robes

The fairy was the last student left to be sorted. Each Turaga pair focused their energy, until a green light was shown by the pair in green robes

"You are of Lewa Clan" Lewara announced as Lewaro handed her a set of green robes and directed to ender the Grand Hall

Rotesra slipped the robes on, clumsily, as she made her way into the Grand Hall. She tried to keep from underfoot and from making a fool of herself.

As she enters the Grand Hall, she sees 7 long tables, each full of other students. At the front of the room, there is another long table sitting perpendicular to the others, with a tall, middle aged man sitting in the middle

The Turaga came in behind the fairy girl and proceeded to the outside of the Hall, heading for the table to sit on wither side of the man, who then stood

"Welcome, one and all" she said in a strong tenor voice that slightly echoed through the large room "Now that the first-years are sorted, the welcome feast can begin. But first, as with every year, I must announce a few things"

Rotesra folded herself into a chair, hunched forward and waited for the announcement.
