Default School of Monsters (For CleverFox)

A girl was standing at a bus stop near a tunnel. She was a bit short as she stood around a height of five feet and an inch. She had pale white skin and grayish hair tied up to form a bit of a short pony tail that someone could easily compare to that of a brush. She had hazel eyes colored and they were partially closed to express her boredom in her current situation. She wore a black skirt that went down to the middle of her thighs and some black knee socks. On her feet were some simple black shoes. The shirt she wore was a white shirt with blue rings on the wrist. The collar of her shirt was blue and was a V neck.

At the moment, she stood there with a simple bag at her side and that same unimpressed look on her face. She had just been assigned to a boarding school by the name Yokai Academy. Well, really, she's going there just to sort of find a place away from all of the humans. Yes, this was no ordinary girl, she was a Cockatrice disguised as a little girl. Reason for wanting to get away: She didn't want her head on a pike if she got found out. Of course, in order to lessen the chances, she needed to be more human, as hard as that may have been at times because of how hard it was to teach herself at a young age. Of course, she had to go too school. She knew what school was and all, but the problem was that she wasn't all the interested. For the sake of not being seen as an outcast though, she had to do this.

Little did she know that she may have just gotten really lucky with her choices. The place said it was special so... She figured she might as well head there. It seemed pretty far from the rest so it was even better. Anyway, she would see how good this place was once she got there. For now all she could do was wait at the bus stop.

"I'm late...I'm so late..."

The sound of hurried steps falling against the ground could be heard a few minutes before a girl came running down the road toward the bus stop. Usually calm amber eyes had a harried look about them as she tried to hurry so that she didn't miss the bus and end up left behind. She knew that her parents would not be happy with her if she did that considering the fact that the bus that took students to the school only ran once a month.

"Looks like I made it...maybe..." she said as she reached the bus stop and saw that there was another person waiting there who seemed to be around the same age as herself. Coming to a stop and trying to catch her breath the girl reached a hand up to brush back her wavy hair, which appeared black at first glance but upon closer inspection was actually a dark green color.

"Hi," she said to the other girl as she finally managed to catch her breath, the girl standing up a bit straighter now that she didn't feel as though she was going to pass out from lack of oxygen. "Heck of a way to start the day..." As she spoke there was a trace of an Irish accent to her voice, the girl offering her companion a slight smile.

While she too appeared more or less ordinary she was in actuality a Cu Sidhe, a giant dog-demon whose howl was said to herald death itself.

The shorter gray haired girl didn't look to the Cu Sidhe before smiling a little bit, yet she still had a bit of an uninterested look in her eye. She couldn't look at her, she would drop dead if she did, which was a problem of being a Cocktatrice. You look at someone, or yourself in a mirror, you wind up dead. It wasn't too much fun seeing how you often didn't know how your own face looked because if looked at it in a mirror, you would wind up dead.

"Hello." She said to her, only looking in her direction, pretending like she was blind. She wasn't, she could still see her, but she wasn't looking directly at her. "You've barely made it by the way, I can hear the bus coming down the tunnel right now." She said, looking down the tunnel and seeing the head lights. "If we're lucky, we won't have a bus driver who is a grouch..." Then she adjusted her bag and pulled it up onto her back.

"My name is... Suek, by the way. I would give you my full name, but I don't think that will be too important right now." Suek said as the bus stopped and she walked onto there, making sure not to look at the driver as she got into the front row seat and looked outside with that same uninterested look in her eye.

"Mhm, I hear it as well," the girl said as she turned her head in that direction, her keen canine hearing helping out in that department. "But close works, at least I didn't have to wait around and deal with boredom." She wasn't really paying much attention to the other girl and so she didn't notice right away that the other girl wasn't looking directly at her.

Or else she may have thought that was weird.

She did offer a bit of a smile when her bus stop companion offered up her name. "I'm Caoimhe (pronounced Kee-va)," she said, giving her name and grateful for the fact that it at least sounded more or less normal even if most people stumbled when they attempted to read it.

Her gaze shifted to the bus as it pulled to a stop and she waited for Suek to get onto the bus before following along behind her. She opted to sit on the opposite side of the aisle despite that the bus was far from crowded, in fact they appeared to be the only ones that were on it.

"Hope this place isn't boring...I can't handle being bored," Caoimhe mused idly, the tone and volume of her voice making it unclear if she were talking to herself or to her companion. Her own amber eyes were focused on the scenery out the window as the bus started moving and the scenery started to speed by, her own eyes holding a look of curiosity.

Suek blankly stared out the window, making sure to keep her eyes mostly diverted towards the sky as she didn't want want to accidentally give someone a death stare or anything. When she was suddenly surprised when the tunnel the bus came through suddenly was over the bus, causing the lights in the bus to switch on so they weren't left in the dark.

There was a light at the end of the tunnel, and once they reached the world on the other side, they would be greated with a land that didn't look all that welcoming, to say the least. They were driving near the edge of the cliff, giving them a great view of the red waters that looked as if it stretched on for miles. The sun was clear over the horizon, reflecting off the waters and shining onto whatever land they were in now.

Suek looked around in some surprise before deciding to look up to the forest and notice the not so healthy look trees. At least she wasn't familiar with them. "Where are we?" She asked quietly.

Caoimhe glanced over when her companion on the bus questioned their location once they emerged from the tunnel that they had been driving through. She was a little bit surprised by that and that was evident on her face as she sort of just stared for several moments.

"Were you not aware of our destination when you got on the bus?" the cu sidhe questioned, finding that a bit odd to say the least. "We're in a different dimension...one free of the humans that persecute our kind." Her tone was matter of fact as she said this, the cu sidhe looking toward the front of the bus as she said this, waiting for it to reach its destination and come to a stop before she rose to her feet.

"This is like no place you've ever been before I'd wager...if you didn't even know where you were coming," she said as she moved to exit the bus.

Suek got up on her feet too, adjusting her bag before making her way off of the bus, going in front of Caoimhe.

"I am new to the thought of school in general." She said as she continued to gaze out the window. "I've been around society for a long time and I have learned plenty from them. However, I still need to get more experience if I hope to actually live among them." She said before looking back slightly, but not at Caoimhe. "One thing in particular that I need to learn how to control is my inability to look at someone." She said. "It's not because I'm blind, it's because I'm a Cockatrice. I can't look at people or they will die. I'm hoping that maybe that this school will maybe have somebody that could help me with that. I'm having... hopes for this place because it stuck out more than others by a long shot. Until then, I have to pretend that I'm blind."

Caoimhe was a little bit surprised by the way that her companion spoke but it was the words that really stuck with her. She had noticed the way that the other seemed to only glance out of the corners of her eyes but hadn't really made the connection until it was blatantly pointed out to her.

And then she felt like an idiot.

"You know I had wondered about that," Caoimhe said in a thoughtful tone of voice. "I guess you and I both harbor the figurative kiss of death. At least mine pretty much banishes in my humanish form...but my howl can kill if a person hears it three times." Not nearly as bad as not being able to look at anyone but Caoimhe was looking for a tiny bit of common ground with this. "Anyway maybe you'll find what you're looking for here...and at the very least you won't have to hide as much."

Which was a small plus but a plus none the less.

Despite looking all disinterested in everything, Suek could tell that she may grow to start liking Caoimehe while she was here. Assuming no drama popped up between them or anything. Reaching down and adjusting her bag slightly, she chuckled. "I'm also hoping that they don't make me wear a blindfold the entire time I'm there though because then I really will be blind."

After saying that, she looked at the path that the bus had stopped close to and read the sign near it. Seeing it with the name of Yokai Academy etched onto it, she began to head down the path. "That's the first thing I plan on asking once I get in there. I don't want to have to deal with people giving me odd looks until I finally choose to reveal what's going on with me.

Of course, now that they were having a little bit of bonding time with each other, Suek was sounding a little more friendlier. It was in her words and tone, but not her expressions.

"I don't know how that would work," Caoimhe said in a thoughtful manner. "They may view it as a safety precaution but as long as you can control it I don't really see any reason why they would." The cu sidhe looked around for a few moments and then started to follow the other girl down the path that was marked with the words Yokai Academy. Her senses were all on high alert at this point, she had been taught to keep a close eye on her surroundings practically since birth.

You never knew when there may be danger lurking around.

"You shouldn't have to disclose what you are, people should just accept that everyone is different," Caoimhe said with a shrug of her shoulders. "Especially people that come to a school such as this." As she spoke Caoimhe continued to walk, still paying attention to her surroundings even if it seemed as though she wasn't. She was picking up on the chatter of others some distance away but didn't comment on that.
