The Trials We Endure (Private for Jinchu)

It was a hot day in the desert of ancient Egypt, and Tamia could barely see where he was going as he followed his lover through the windy sands. Tamia was 20, and was around 5 foot, 5 inches tall. "I'm convinced that someone just made up the legend to try and get idiots like us to walk around in the middle of a desert storm just to kill us."

Groaning, he reached in his bag and pulled out his canteen, drinking some water eagerly. Feeling better, he heard a loud howl of the wind, and could feel it getting worse. "The wind's getting stronger," He commented. "We should probably find shelter soon, or else we might get stuck in a sandstorm," He said nervously, before eyeing what looked like an ancient staircase in the distance. Pointing it out to his lover, he began to run towards it, trying to get out of the wind.

The staircase was strange. Despite being in the middle of a desert, there was very little sand on the lower stairs. It was made out of stone, and didn't seem to have eroded at all in the wind. And it was long, it seemed to go deep into the earth, being over a hundred steps deep. Each step seemed to have been lovingly carved into the planet, it looked like it had been made yesterday, despite being thousands of years old. At the bottom was a strange stone door. It was unlocked, but had to words, "Know that all who enter, must endure trials" engraved in it, in extremely ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics, ones that hadn't been used since 3000 BC. Tamia of course couldn't read it and began to walk through it, eager to get out of the storm.

John started to have doubts about having his boyfriend with him in the expedition. Of course, he loved Tamia and wanted to spend more time with his young lover, which was what caused taht idea in the first place, but the boy was not really prepared for such hard tasks and to be perfectly honest sometimes hsi whining made John really tired.

At his age of 27 John was already the acccaimed feild archeologist. A few moments later Tamia noticed some kind of ancent entrance and run towards it. "Or you can just stumble upon it, I guess..." John shrugged his shoulders, feeling like a total idiot, and followed his boyfriend.

As they reached the staircase, though, he didn't feel dissastisfied anymore. It was amazing! John couldn't yet explain why it looked so new and survived all the ages apssing by so well, but it was a priceless find for sure! He then turned to the walls to start the research (even though it was obviously a matter of months, if not years, to study this place well). "...who enter... mmm... must endure, I guess?... Tamia didn't have the patience for archeology. He loved his boyfriend a lot, but he just didn't have the knack for it like John did. Don't get him wrong, he was interested in everything, but he couldn't get down and dirty into it like his lover could. Opening the door without thought a cold wind swept over him and John, releasing air that hadn't been free in thousands of years. It was a cold dusty breeze, and Tamia had to blink his eyes multiple times once it was done. Stepping into the stone tomb, he was surpised that there actually was light. It seemed to come from strange rocks that adorned the ceiling, he couldn't tell what was causing the rocks to glow the erie white glow, but whatever it was, it was enough to light up the entire hall.

Because of the light, Tamia could see that he and his boyfriend had found themselves in a large hall, one that seemed to go a hundred yards in one direction. But the walls were covered in rather, interesting pictures. They showed men doing rather naughty things to each other. Tamia could only blush as he examined them. They were all in rather exposing positions, some were actively engaged in sex, while others showed more interesting poses. Tamia found himself blushing at the sight of them though, and he found himself slowly walking down the hall, staring at each one. John gasped in surprise and hurried into the hall. He forgot about the possible dangers and the formal procedures of archeological research, he was too fascinated by this discovery. Such a big underground tomb, in a perfect, almost impossible state - it was like wonder, the greatest wonder John could imagine.

He started to run between the walls, trying to see as much as possible. Everything he knew about ancent Egypt told him this was something no one ever had seen before. Those lights on the celling wee a coplete mystery. The artworks on the walls differed from the usual Egyptian pauntings greatly as well...

The paintings, by the way, made John blush brightly, even though he looked at them as a scientist. He saw couples (mostly gay couples) in all the imaginable sex positions, usually very immodest ones. Inside was a mostly empty circular room. Engraved in the wall was a stone statue of Anubis, gazing out towards the blanket and the hall. The rest of the walls were empty. The floor however was made of sand, unlike the rest of the hall which was made of stone. Curious, Tamia began to slowly walk into the room, before crying out as the floor began to crumble beneath him, and he began to sink into the sand, "John, help," Tamia cried out reaching towards the door, hoping his lover would grab his hand.

Unknown to Tamia, the floor next to the pit had been curved slightly, so the moment John would try and save his lover, he would also fall into the pit.

"It's not normal at all... Neither the perfect state of these artworks, nor their themes match anything we know about ancent Egypt. I'd say it's a modern fake, but... if so, it's done extremely well, by some great professionals, who also spent a fortune on it..." John answered in confusion, examininig one of the paintings closely and trying to ignore the rection which started to stretch his underwear despite attempts to see all these pictures purely scientifically...

He was so distracted by the paintings and their mystery - they were new in terms of their condition, but old and autentic in terms of technique, the plots were unheard of, but the style was recognizable - that he didn't pay attention to there his boyfriend went. The archeologist looked around only as he heard Tamia's cry for help.

Whimpering, Tamia turned his head to John, hoping he'd explain.

After hearing John's excuse, the god said, "Well, you have entered a sacred place, one that you cannot leave without success. Be happy there are two of you, had there been one, I would have struck you down the moment you entered my temple. Now, if you would like to leave, you must prove your devotion to each other through ten trials. These trials are not for the meek, and will leave your relationship and your devotion to each other changed and tested. Go now into the next room, you will know your task when you arrive," He said sternly, before disappearing.

In the room with the paintings, one painting in particular began to glow brightly. The frame was shining a golden light, waiting for one of them to touch it. For the moment they did, they would enter the world of the painting and perform whatever task the people on it are doing.

John held his lover tightly as they fell, wondering if any of them will survive it, but they landed surprisingly softly. Though the archeologist had no time to wonder about this, since he faced the literal god!.. Anubis certainly didn't look like some masked man, or animatronic, or anything like that, he was horribly real, even though John couldn't fully belive he was real.

But while John was shocked by teh spectacle of something he ehad never expected to see, his rational part listened acrefully to Anubis' instructions. All these seemed real enough to be dangerous, and he wouldn't want to risk Tamia's life. John decided to play by their rules, at least for now.

"Yes, allmighty Anubis, we undestand! Please, forgive our unwelcome traspassing, it was nothing but a mistake of misled mortals!.." he answered, trying to sound polite enough for conversation with the deity. Then he held Tamia's hand and walked forward.

The glowing picture showed two naked men, in three situations following one after another.
