Two Princes [For Angel]

Lawrence Rainsworth crossed his arms and sulked as his carriage started moving. Yesterday had been his eighteenth birthday, and now, in accordance with long-standing custom, he was being shipped off to the neighboring kingdom to be married. A pair of each royal family's offspring were always to be wed; that was the rule. Even if the only offspring turned out to be two girls, or, in this case, two boys.

Lawrence was acquainted with the other land's prince - they were even friends - but he had always hoped that his mother would give birth to a girl who could be married to the other boy instead. It had never happened, and now that both boys were of age, there could be no further delay. His parents would arrive for the wedding, but Lawrence was being sent over a bit earlier so that preparations could be made.

Lawrence, or "Laurie" as he was sometimes called by his family and friends, was a very pretty and charming, if somewhat spoiled, young prince. He was slim and not very tall, with straight dark brown hair that fell nearly to his shoulders and sparkling pale blue eyes. He had a delicate boyish face, pale with a few light freckles. He was dressed very nicely, in a vest with tails and short pants of navy blue velvet, a frilly shirt and a ribbon tie. But he would look much more pleasant if he were smiling.

The prince he was being sent to wed was slightly older; Twenty years old, to be exact. His name was Alexander Avinson. Tall, and relatively strong looking. He trained with the guards in order to keep himself strong. His hair was long, and usually tied into a ponytail to keep it in check. His eyes were a very dark blue. His skin was rather light, his family from the far north somewhere down the family tree.

The prince, dressed in a long formal jacket in a dark red, a white undershirt, and trousers designed to match the coat, paced in the hall. Dammit all. Laurie was a great friend. Beyond great, in fact; The boy was the person Alexander trusted more than anyone else. But now they were to be wed. He fully figured that his friend would hate him do to their fate.

Laurie stepped out of the carriage once it arrived, looking around with a sigh at his new home. He'd had to leave most of his things behind, though at least his possessions would be brought along at a later date. He was uneasy, having lived in the same place his entire life. He pushed his silver-rimmed glasses up his nose as a servant showed him in to the palace.

As he entered the palace, he quickly came face to face with Alexander. The older prince smiled at him softly, and offered his hand to Laurie as he would to a date.

Laurie blinked and appeared slightly confused, attempting to shake Alexander's hand. "...why so formal?"

Alexander smirked, and took the hand, kissing the back of it. "I have to be. It's in the job description." he joked to him softly. "Welcome to my home, my friend. Our home now, in fact."

Laurie sighed. "Stupid traditions. I know you'd prefer a girl."

[Angel]

"You do?" he asked, smirking at him. "Because I wasn't aware of that. Considering I've always found boys much more attractive." he said non-chalantly.

Laurie blinked, looking taken aback. "Really? Since when?"

Alexander shrugged softly. "Not sure. It just sorta... Dawned on me one day. Made being told that I'd be taking you as my wife endlessly easier. My best friend, and a rather handsome prince, married to me? Fantastic! Except I knew you'd feel differently."
