[World] Empire of the Amazons
(NOTE: THIS IS AN ALTERNATIVE UNIVERSE!!! NONE OF THIS IS REAL!!)
The Amazons were a tribe of warrior women. They were founded by a woman named Otrera. She was once a regular woman who lived in the lands that would one day, in another world, would have been called Italy. She lived in a practically unknown village called Themyscira. Women in her village were treated like slaves, just like everywhere else.
Eventually, she grew tired of this treatment. So, during the night, she would go out into the woods and trainer herself to fight. As she grew stronger, she was able to convince her fellow women to join her. They became strong and in one night, overthrew their husbands and slew them.
This got the attention of Ares, the Greek God of War. He offered Otrera and her followers his blessing if she could best him in one-on-one combat. He also swore that he would not use his divine power or strength so it would be a fair fight. Otrera agreed and faught him. The fight lasted for an hour, and Otrera was defeated. However, Ares was so impressed by her determination and skill that he blessed them anyway.
After receiving Ares’ blessing, Otrera and her followers were able to conquer other, nearby villages, liberating the women. This time though, instead of killing all of the men, they enslaved them. They put their slaves to use, tearing down the villages and bringing the supplies to Themyscira. Slowly, but surely, they were able to turn Themyscira from a tiny, unknown village into a small city!
Later, Otrera learned of Ares half-sister Artemis: the Greek Goddess of the Moon and Hunt. Artemis was everything Otrera wanted her new people to be! So, Artemis And Ares becomes the co-patron Gods of the Amazons.
For the rest of Otrera’s life, she set out to conquer new lands and liberate new women! By the time of her death, she had conquered the entire Italian peninsula. Once this was done, she decided that she and her supporters needed last names to distinguish their families. Thus were the Houses born. Otrera became the founding member of House Targaryen. And Themyscira was the largest, cleanest and most glorious city in the lands! Then her daughter Hippolyta conquered the lands that would become Romania.
Generations passed, and the Amazon Empire grew larger and more powerful. The lands that would one day have been called France, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Norway, Switzerland, England, Wales and Scotland came under their banner. But as the empire grew, so did it’s people. Eventually, slavery was abolished. Whilst men still could not become soldiers, guards or hold positions of authority in the government, any other path was open to them.
The Amazon Empire is ruled by nobels who are descendent from either Otrera’s earliest supporters or councilors. At the top is the High Queen, directly descendent from Otrera. Below the High Queen are the Duchesses who rule the provinces. Then there are the Countesses who rule the county’s whithin the provences. Below them are the Baronesses who rule cities. This is where hereditary nobility ends. Archonesses, or landed knights, rule individual keeps and villages. Dames are landless knights and finally there are the commoners.
Now, it is a time of morning and celebration at the same time. High Queen Hippolyta Targaryen the III has passed and her daughter Crown Princess Diana Targaryen the II is about to be crowned High Queen. That, and the empire’s 1,000th year anniversary is coming up!
The Duchesses of the provinces are all coming to Themyscira to swear loyalty to their new Queen. The Stark of Scotland, the Arryn of Switzerland, the Tully of Germany, the Greyjoy of Norway, the Lannister of England, the Tyrell of France, the Baratheon of Wales, and the Martell of Spain.
