Love will find a way

It all started as a normal day. The lady Glawar and her husband, the Prince of the Greenwood had risen and broken there fast with their little elfling, Legolas. I’ve they went their seperate ways, the lady had settled the elfling for a nap before going on a daily ride.

Unfortunately, the lady of the realm was beset by orcs, and faded from Middle Earth. Her beloved husband was unable to carry on without his love, and faded as well. His dear friend, Berliond, took the elfling to his only remaining family. His grandfather, the king of the realm, Oropher.

The mind hadn’t seen the elfling for many years, but the household had little choice.


Upon hearing the tragic news, Lord Elrond of Imladris headed to the Greenwood to add his help,bringing his sons, Elladan and Elrohir, to his own foster father, the shipwright, Cirdan.

The ancient elf was pleased to take the elflings, glad to have his home filled with laughter once more. He had promised to bring the little ones to visit very soon, wanting to give the little princeling time to bond with his Daerada.

Oropher sighed as he looked out of the window. Such a beautiful day; the sun let down warm rays of light as the wind gently went through the trees, occasionally having a late summer leaf fall to the ground. The leaves would stay on the ground until another breeze came along and took them away. So easily and without effort, Oropher somewhat wished he could just have the wind take him away too.

The death of his son affected him greatly. No father should have to see their own children fade, nor should a child as young as Legolas be left without an Adar and Nana so early in life.

Oropher rubbed at his head when the thought of that blond little elfling came to mind. It’s not like he didn’t love the boy. He just didn’t know him that well and raising an elfling again was another challenge in itself...

Or maybe he was just afraid of loving again.

Nay. Oropher shook that thought from his head. He was sad from his son’s death, true, but he would not have it dictate his life in such a way that he could not love anything like that again.

He then walked away from the window, and out into the hallway. Berliond would be there any moment with his grandson.

Elladan and Elrohir quietly rode along in the carriage, neither of them feeling like talking. They were on their way to Greenwood for with the death of the great elven king there were many things to be done. Many things that would of course make their father very busy, which is why he has entrusted them to Cirdan while he is preoccupied.

The carriage then stopped and the twins were carefully helped out of it and onto the ground of their temporary home.

Berliond sighed as he gazed at the Little elfling standing next to him. The elfling was so very young, and it made his heart ache when, late at night, the little one had cried and cling to him, begging for his parents. It had nearly broken the Captains heart as he’d tried to explain that the lad’s Nana and Ada were not coming back. He’d tried to explain that they would meet again in the Grey Havens, but the littlest prince had been too young to fully understand.

Now, however, the elfling was trying so hard to be brave to face the Daerada he barely knew.

The captain took the little ones hand and knocked on the large wooden door.

Legolas took the hand offered to him, a trickle of fear going through him. Hownhe woshed his Nana and ada were with him! They’d gone away, so Berliond said, and wouldn’t be back for some time. He hoped it would be kick sooner. He missed them greatly, and had cried long into the night before sleep took over his small body.

Cirdan met the carriage outside and greeted his foster son, warmly.
“Welcome, Elrond Of Imladris,” he greeted, voice hushed.
“I wish our reunion was under happier circumstances,” he added, glancing down at his newest fosterlings.
He had missed the sound of little elflings in his home, but he was deeply troubled by why they had been brought to him. He knew that elrond was needed to help Oropher get through such a difficult time, and he was grateful for him.
He would help keep the elflings occupied and strive to cheer the youngest prince get through such a tragedy.

Oropher waited by the front door, nodding to a servant to open it when he heard he knock.

The first thing Oropher noticed was how tired and frail the child looked. Darker circles under those red rimmed blue eyes told the king Legolas probably cried himself to sleep, and he couldn’t blame the child.

“Berliond.” The king gave a nod. “It is good to see you, though I wish it was under different circumstances.” He said to the elf and then turned his attention back to his grandson. “It is good to see you too...are you hungry?”

The twins got out of the carriage, looking around at the new land they were in. When Cirdan came out the twins went behind Elrond’s legs, gripping his leggings as the peeked out to look at the new elf.

The captain bowed to his king, as the elfling stared at the tall elf before him.
He gave the little one a gentle nudge, and the elfling jumped a bit, before bowing as well.
“My lord,” he greeted, barely above a whisper.
Berliond smoked, proud of the little one, and looked up.
“Food would be much welcomed, my King. We did not stop much on our travels here,” he said.


Elrond greeted his foster father and smiled a little as the twins hid behind him.

Cirdan smiled at them.
“Welcome, little one,” he greeted them.
“Shall we go inside and see about food?” He offered.

Oropher was rather proud of Legolas' manners and gave a small smile. "Well shall we then?" He began walking down the hall. "How has he been...truly?" He asked his friend in a whisper so the elfling wouldn't hear.

"Food?" Elrohir was the first one to perk up. "I'm starved!"
Elladan was still unsure but came out further from behind his father's leg.

Legolas trailed behind them, his blue eyes trained on his boots. How he woshed his parents were here! His Daerada looked very like his Ada, but...he wasn’t at all sure he could run and jump into his arms as he had his beloved Ada.

Berliond sighed a little and shook his head, sadly.
“He does not fully understand what happened. He’s so...very young, my King,@ he said.

Cirdan smiles at the twins, glad they’d perked up.
“Indeed. I’ve a wonderful cook, and he has missed cooking for little ones.”
He looked up at Elrond and sighed.
“You will stay the night?” He offered his Forster son, in a tone that made it clear it was not a suggestion.
Elrond Bowes his head and nodded.
“I shall,” he said.
“If nothing more then to see them settled,” he added, taking a twin by each hand.

Oropher gave a solem nod at that and looked back to his grandson who looked so much like his own son at that age. "I see...and how has he been health wise?"

The twins eagerly held their father's hands.
"Ada, you will be with us the whole time while we're here, right?" Elladan asked hopefully.

“He is a very healthy elfling, my lord,” Berliond said as they walked the great halls of the stronghold.
“He...he had cried himself to sleep for the last few nights. I suppose it’s a good thing he has stopped calling for his parents, unless he’s upset.”

Elrond chuckled as they settled in the dining room.
“I wish I could, little ones, but I am needed elsewhere. That is why you are to stay with Lord cirdan.”
The shipwrights smiled at them as he sat in his chair.
“Indeed. We shall spend much time together.”

"I had thought he might.." Oropher said as he glanced back to the child. They walked into the dining hall and the king took his seat.

The twins looked between their father and Cirdan.
"We will see you?" Elrohir asked in a small voice to his father.
