Lady Gail woke early to the sound of birds outside her bedroom window. The sun was shining through the heavy down curtain dancing on her face. She turned over with a sigh. The maids never close it right.

Her brown curls splayed across the mountain of pillows and she rolled her jade eyes to the ceiling. Today was the summer gala and she would be meeting suitors and nobles all day. She looked around her grand bedroom. No one. With such an event to hist she would need help getting primped and dressed.

"Enter" she called to the door, because of course her ladies in waiting should be there to prepare her for the day. There was no response.

"I said, enter." Nothing.

After her fathers departure Ladu Gail had a tough time taking command of the house and generallu tolerated the serving staff. Unfortunately, some had decided to take advantage of this

Lady Gail grabbed the bell from her dresser and rang it as loud as she could. She could already tell today was off to a bad start.

A Maid though not a lady in waiting comes rushing because she at least hears the bell

Jessica was an orphan raised by her Villages Church And sees becoming a maid as he r big chance in life. Its better by Far then the Brothel or working as a serving wench at some Tavern.

Sitting on the bed Lady Gail looked the maid girl over. She didnt recognize this one but at least someone had come to the ringing bell. Sliding out of bed, she pulled on her day robe and sat at her vanity.
The maid girl was still in a deep, albeit exaggerrated curtsey. She really must be new thought Lady Gail. Picking up a paddle brush and her comb she turned to the girl.

"Well, what are you waiting for? You can draw my bath and make the bed up."

Lady Gail began brushing her hair, watching the girl work in the mirror.

Draws bath well enough but does a poor Job making the bed clearly not Experienced in doing so .

Lady Gail watches Jessica struggle with the enourmous bed. It could be the stress of the gala this afternoon, it could be the intrusive thought of her ladies in waiting playing a trick on the inexperienced maid, but the whole episode was annoying to watch. Today of all days. Lady Gail disrobes and slides her slender foot into the tub. The water was cold.

Shaking her foot dry she grabs the robe from the floor and wraps it around her body.

"Girl!" She snaps. "The water is cold! And for goodness sake have you never made a bed before!"

"Grew up in the village chapel" Says mater of factly.

"So didnt worry about making it look pretty" Says with a bit of scorn in her tone.

"I'll get some heated water if you wish?"

"Well in this house," Lady Gail narrowed her gaze. "We strive to do things well the first time. And we watch our tone if we want to stay in the house."

Lady Gail pulled the sheets back. "Make it again. Then fluff this dress out. Im going to find some hot water."

Gail left the maid alone in the chamber.

sighs and goes about remaking the bed but it is obvious she hasnt been taught how to do so properly

Shes totally innocent of other uses the brush can be put to.

Lady Gail couldnt find her ladies anywhere and the new girl was annoying her. Who doesnt know that bath water should be hot? Or how to make a bed? She was sure that Matron Grace had hired her, she had a bleeding heart for the poor girls in the village, but if she wasnt going to train them what was the point.

Returning to her chamber she found the maid clamering around on the bed trying to fix the mountain of covers. Her lace hat falling off her head and her shoes leaving dirt on the sheets.

"What are you doing?" She exclaimed. "You dont make the bed if your just going to mess it up. Get down from there."

Already running late and flustered Lady Gail decided to take matters into her own hands. Closing the bedroom door she pulled her dresser chair out and sat down.

"Stand there." She said pointing to her side.

Blinks but obeys standing where indicated not seeing a reason to do so.
