Mirkwood visit (for NaughtyPirate)

Elladan and Elrohir chattered excitedly as they rode with their ada, both still small enough to easily fit in front of their ada while on a horse. They were nearly to Mirkwood and couldn't wait to see their friend Legolas once more as if felt like ages since they had last met, well, ages for elflings that is.

Thranduil waited patiently in his study for news of when Elrond and his twin sons would arrive, which would be any minute now. He tried working on the papers before him, but his mind going back to how excited Legolas had been these past few days, nearly jumping off the walls and asking often when they would arrive. Thranduil chuckled and sipped his tea, very happy as well thinking of Elrond and his son's visit.

Legolas bounded into his ada's study, his minder behind him, trying hard to restrain the little prince.
"Prince Legolas, your ada is busy!" she hissed.
"Ada! Ada!" the prince cried, throwing his arms towards his ada, laughing.
"I heard the guards say the 'Ladan and 'Ro were almost here!"


Elrond held his sons close to him as they crossed the borders into the heart of Mirkwood. He was eager to see his long time friend, and he knew his sons were thrilled to see Legolas.

Thranduil laughed as he easily caught his son in his arms, cuddling him close. "Perhaps we should greet them then." Thranduil said as he stood with his son in his arms and nodding to Legolas' minder as he headed out of his study.

"Are we almost there, Ada?" Elladan asked.
"Yes are we?" His twin added.
"What are we going to do when we get there, Ada?"
"Must we have a bedtime tonight?"
"Yes, must we? We will be too excited to sleep!"
Both twins spoke fast, excitement clear in their voices.

Elrond chuckled a bit and patted their heads.
"We shall see how you feel tonight after playing with Legolas," he said.

He looked up, and raised a hand to point out the gates.
"Look. We are entering Mirkwood's palace now."

He dismounted, holding the twins by the hand.
"Recall your manners, little ones," he said, softly. It was important that they waited until the proper greetings were made.


Legolas giggled, and hugged his ada.
"I am excited to see them, Ada! I want to show them my favorite tree, and show them the berry patches in the meadow!" he said, excitedly.

Elladan and Elrohir smiled at their ada, glad he didn't say no right away and let him take their hands. Though they both soon began to fidget and wanted nothing more than to see Legolas right away.


Thranduil ran a hand through Legolas' hair. "Sounds like you have a lot planned, little one."

They both made it outside and Thranduil set his son down and gently took his hand. "Manners now, Legolas." Thranduil looked to the guards and ordered that the gates be opened. The guards nodded and opened the grand gates, welcoming the new arrivals.

Legolas giggled in his arms, and nodded, glad to see his friends. As he was placed on the ground, he sobered, or tried to. He straightened his small shoulders, and tried to emulate his ada as they strode to greet the elves of Imladris.

Elrond smiled at them, proud of his sons.
"Mae Govaenon, King Thranduil," he greeted, bowing a bit, knowing his sons would do the same.

Thranduil smiled at Legolas, his heart swelling with pride at his son. He was so very lucky to have Legolas as a son.

The king of Mirkwood bowed as well, "Mae govannen, Lord Elrond. It is wonderful to see you and your sons again. I do hope your journey went well"



The twins followed their ada's lead and bowed to the king and prince as well.

Legolas squirmed a bit, trying desperately to maintain some decorum.


Elrond smiled, straightening.
"I am glad to see you, my old friend. Are journey was long, but pleasant."

Thranduil rubbed a thumb over Legolas' hand, proud that his son had not yet given into his excitement.
The king smiled to Elrond. "That is good to hear. Now I do believe a meal is in order for your safe arrival. I will have the servants take your belongings to your rooms."



Once straightening back up and clearly unable to contain their excitement any longer the twins bolted from Elrond.
"Legolas!" The yelled, both practically tackling the elfling to the ground.
"We missed you so much!"
"It has been forever!"

Elrond sighed as the twins bolted away.
"They lasted longer then I thought they might," he said, wearily to his friend.

"A meal would be much appreciated, but I wouldst see them bathed first," he said, eyeing the slightly dusty twins, who were busy getting dust all over their little blonde friend.

Legolas laughed and squirmed with them, giggling.
"I have missed you, both!" he exclaimed.
