Marriage in Skyrim (for Vegas)
Camilla Valerius had to admit, when she was a child in Cyrodiil, she would never have pictured herself someday moving to somewhere as barren as Skyrim. She would never have imagined her and her brother carrying on their parents' legacy as merchants, either (she'd always wanted to be an artist, but she supposed selling was an art in itself.) Most of all, she never expected she'd end up married to a high-ranking officer in the Imperial Legion. But here she was, moving into her new wife's house in Solitude. It was much colder here than it was in Riverwood, with Atmora practically in sight. She could see why Eir had been given the moniker "the Northerner" when she joined the Legion. She didn't bring much with her from Riverwood, just a few trunks of her belongings. She was still a little bit in awe of the size of the house.

Eir the Northerner hauled her wife's final trunk into the house and up the stairs, setting it down in front of their bed. She wiped sweat from her brow when it was stowed. She was no stranger to physical labor, having served the last ten years in the Legion, but Camilla certainly had more clothes than she was expecting a country girl to have. Taking a seat on the bed, she stretched her arms, which had gotten sore carrying the luggage. "Well... that takes care of that." She gave Camilla a teasing smirk. "Thanks for your help, love."

"What? You seemed to have it under control," Camilla teased back. When she first met Eir, the Legionnaire's personality had surprised her. She expected a Legate to be stern and scary. Eir had an iron streak that came out when she needed it to, but most of the time she was teasing, and sometimes maddeningly flirtatious. That had apparently gotten her into trouble in the military. Not to mention a secret talent for playing the fiddle. She would have made a good bard, Camilla thought.
"So... remind me again how you got this house? Even a Legate's salary can't pay this much, can it?"

"No, it doesn't. But there are perks to being a Legate that you wouldn't expect. This house wasn't one of them." Her smirk widened. "It was a gift from Jarl Elisef. All I had to do was go to a cave north of the city and slay a group of necromancers who were trying to summon... ah, who drove Pelagius the Mad mad again? Oh right, Queen Potema. They were trying to summon Potema, and I put an end to their ritual."

"I would ask if you're joking, but something tells me you aren't," Camilla sighed. "I guess I'd better get used to all of your crazy stories and daring adventures, aye? The merchant's life is nothing compared to that of a soldier."

"Aye, you should." Rolling over on the bed, Eir tackled Camilla unexpectedly, initiating a playful wrestling match. "Just like you should get used to the freezing cold. If you thought Riverwood was bad, just wait until winter up here. But don't worry..." The same infuriating smirk crossed the Legate's face once again. "I'll make sure you're always warm."

"By the Eight, you and your damned double entendres." Camilla fought to free herself from Eir's grasp, but failed. When her arms were pinned above her head, she settled for nipping one of her wife's pointed ears lightly. She was a little bit fascinated by Eir's quarter-elven heritage. She knew Bretons were humans of mixed elven ancestry, but Eir wasn't a Breton. She was as Nord as Nords came aside from the ears and the aptitude for magic. "Your grandmother was Altmer, wasn't she? How did she and your grandfather meet?"

"Not 'was,' love. Is. Elves live quite a bit longer than humans. My mother would probably still be around if it weren't for the war. They met in Winterhold. She was looking to apply to the college, but decided against it when she met my grandfather. What a High Elf would see in a Nord man, I don't know. But I suppose I can't complain."

"Nor can I," Camilla chuckled. She rested her head on Eir's sternum. "You don't talk much about your family," she observed. "I've told you all about Mother and Father and Lucan... you've barely said anything."

"Well... I suppose there isn't much to say. My grandmother looked after me when my parents went to war, but she went back to the Sommerset Isles ten years ago. My parents didn't make it back, as you know. I joined the Legion when I was a teenager, and from that point on, Rikke basically became my mother."
