Want to get rid of the annoying adverts? The answer is simple. There are 4 levels of advertising on AnimeOTK:
Level 1: (Your Level, guests and members with 0-9 posts) has maximum advertising.
Level 2: (A user with 10 or more posts who has been a member over two weeks) have vastly reduced advertising (including removal of the large full screen closable adverts)
Level 3: (A member who has been registered over a month and has over 50 posts, or has a special account like "artist" or "writer" sees minimal advertising.
Level 4: (VIP Donators) receive no advertising.
All donators of $10 or more will never see an advert on our site again!

[Update] SORRY! Didn't mean to make anyone panic. This was not a security issue. All a DDOS does is slow down a website. Nothing else.
We'll be turning off the cloudflare captcha today. If this ever happens again, we may have to turn the captchas back on, but no need to worry. AI and I will continue to monitor the server stability :-).

Hey all,
We've been under a DDOS attack since yesterday, so you may have been receiving a lot of timeouts when trying to access AOTK and her sister sites.
We have blocked the offending attack vector and have turned on cloudflare DDOS protection for the time being. We'll be turning it off later today or tomorrow, but until then, you may have to put up with some annoying captchas every few hours. Sorry for the inconvenience.
On the plus side, last week AI and I made some heavy changes to our server and the server loads have been really low since, so we shouldn't be having any more server timeouts or problems due to heavy loads. (Unless, of course, if we are being attacked :-) )

We don't know whose doing it or why. Sometimes people are just jerks. You see it enough when hosting websites to just roll your eyes at it. It's a temporary nuisance.
DDOS mitigation just means what I said in the post. We have cloudflare temporarily turned on to CAPTCHA mode and we have blocked the part of the site that was being attacked. We'll probably take down these protections tomorrow.

Why don't you just keep it on? Makes sense you you might just waste around about 5 to 10 seconds on loading time

This was NOT a security leak or hack, no need to worry about anything. It just means some kid payed a person a little bit of money and that other person told a botnet to load our web pages hundreds to thousands of times a second to make our server run slow. It's the dumbest form of internet “hacking”.
