I don't know how most spankers feel about it, but I would say that if I'm getting a spanking mostly for fun, I'd prefer that it not keep going until I'm full-on blubbering. I do usually prefer it be at least a bit intense though, so it isn't a bad thing if I get kind of misty-eyed from it.
