The Heiress and the Bodyguard

Lorien Stark hadn't been impressed when the mugger had cornered her. She'd never been mugged, or robbed, but she'd always assumed she was safe. She was a Stark. People knew who she was. They knew who her father was. But apparently, not this guy.

She'd been lucky enough that she didn't carry much cash on her, and she'd canceled her cards as soon as she'd gotten her breath back. He'd been armed, and she wasn't. Tony didn't usually want her to carry a weapon, though she thought that might change.

Lori had called her father after the buy had gotten away, thankful that he hadn't wanted her phone, having snatched her purse and wallet, before taking off.

Tony had arrived quickly, though she hadn't needed him, by that point.
Now, a week later, they were in the living room, and bickering.

"A body guard?" She said, exasperated.
"You've GOT to be kidding!"
"I never kid about your safety," Tony told her, flatly.

"I just need a weapon or something, Dad," she argued at him, her blue eyes flashing as she irritably tossed her dark red hair.


"Lori, I'm working on something for you, but until then, you'll have a body guard. I have a bodyguard," he told her, watching her with stern eyes.

"You have HAPPY. That doesn't count!" she snipped at him, folding her arms over his chest.
"I can design my own protection," she added.
"Yeah, I know you can, but I don't want you to. At least not yet," he said.
"You're going to deal with this. At least for now. I can't...I don't want you to HAVE to worry about your safety," he told her, his eyes going soft. He adored his girls. He couldn't bear it if anything happened to them.

Lori took a deep breath, knowing he was worried for her safety, and sighed.
"Fine. I won't try to ditch him," she acquiesced.

"Good. I'll hold you to that," Tony said, leaning over to kiss her cheek.

"Um, may I come in??", a tall, broad man with stone grey hair asked. He was obviously still muscular for his age, but didn´t look threatening with his awkward manner in the situation. However he was good at his job, as Tony would know. "Hi...you must be Lori. Thanks for giving me a job.", the bodyguard said," I am Adam. I am sure we´ll get along just great. You´ll just have to listen to me every now and again when it concerns your safety." Adam hoped that was not too much to ask.

Lori looked him up and down, her blue eyes cool. She sighed and turned back to her father.
"Really," was she said, before she took a deep breath.
Tony gave her a sharp look, and turned to Adam.
"It's good to see you again. I'm glad you were able to come so quickly," he told the man, stepping forward to shake his hand.

"This is amy daughter, Lorien," he told him.
"You can call me Lori," she corrected, immediatly.

"No problem, honestly it wasn´t easy finding a well paying job...so I am grateful for this opportunity", the big man said and turned to the girl who was studying him after shaking Tonys hand. "Hello, Lori. Got any plans for today? We´ve got to get to know each other a little.", he told the girl kindly. She seemed friendly enough, maybe a bit sassy, but he didn´t mind that. Adam also held his hand out to her.

Lori took his hand with a small smile.
"Only working in the lab. You can come, but don't touch anything. It might just bite you," she said.

Tony rolled his eyes at her.
"As sassy as that was, she's probably right. The lab can be dangerous," he told Adam.
"But Lori, I want you to go out today, and get to know Adam."

Lori rolled her eyes with a sigh.
"Why?"
"Because I said so," he told her simply.
Despite being a legal adult, Lori had enough respect for her father to sigh and nod.
"Fine. We can...go out, I guess."

Adam was a bit suprised that the girl just gave up like that, but maybe she had more respect for her father then it showed at first. "Maybe we can go to that milkshake place that recently opened up. I heard they are pretty good. You like milkshakes?", he asked friendly, not sure which impression he had made. But it seemed like they would get along.

Lori cast her father another annoyed look, while Tony gave her a small smile.
She knew that he just wanted her to be safe, but she didn't like thi.
"I'm not a child," she told Adam, eyeing him with annoyance.
"Don't talk to me like I'm an idiot, and we'll get along jsut fine."

He gave her a perplexed look. "Well, not just children like milkshakes...are you on a diet or something?", he asked. Okay, maybe that was a dumb answer or came of wrong, but he just blurted it out. Seemed like they were off to a rough start. Ohh...and here he thought this job was going to be easy. Just entertaining a young brat. How difficult can it be? Like, teenagers aren´t really that horrible, right?

Lori narrowed her eyes at him, and was about to say something biting, before Tony stopped her.
"Lori, give the man a chance. He'd probably just a little nevous on his first day," Tonytold her girl>
Lori took a deep breath, but nodded.
"Fine," she said.
"I can let that go, I suppose," she said, though she wasn't happy.
"I think it's best if we start over."

She stepped forward and offered her hand.
"I'm Lorien Stark, heir of Stark Enterprises," she said, her voice cool, but professional.
