Neji did not know what to make of this mission.

For one thing, he got to spend the whole time away from his annoying over-bearing partner Lee. There would nothing wrong with Lee and his acrobatic antics if he just kept his mouth shut, which he rarely did.

On the other hand, his sensei was coming as well and if Gai put his mind to it, he could be as loud as two. Or six. Neji sook his head, trying not to get a headache just from remembering his loud sensei.

At least Kakashi and Sasuke would be there. From what he'd gathered at the chuunin exams, they were both quiet guys who like to be left alone. That was fine by Neji.

But then again the sight of his "rival" might make Gai force them to run twice a fast to prove an otherwise useless point.
Hitching his backpack up, he walked away of the Hyuuga compound with mixed feelings.

Kakashi arrived at the war memorial fifteen minutes after he was supposed to meet his team for today's mission. Crouching and paying his respects to Obito, he wondered how late he could be without his loud "rival" came looking for him. He gave Gai an hour at least just to give a speech to the boys about youth or something.

The black haired shinobi, Sasuke Uchiha, was lying in bed, his hands behind his head. He sighed, before starting to get up to get dress. Once he was ready to head out, he grabbed a quick snack to keep his energy up.

Speaking of the mission....He'd be spending the day with Kakashi, Neji...and Gai. Everything seemed liek it'd be pretty nice...no loud mouth Uzumaki, which gave him a sigh of relief on the inside. He threw his backpack over his shoulder, and started to head off to the destination he was told to meet at.

"Rival!" a man shouted off in the distance. Gai. The green jump suited man sprinted up to him, and grinned, putting his hands on his hips. "And what a lovely morning we have here." he smelled the air, and let out a small, happy sigh. "Hm...rival, you seem to have beat me here today..." he scratched his chin. "This is abnormal for a hip, young person like you!"

"Anou...Gai...We were supposed to meet at the memorial bridge, not the memorial stone." Kakashi sighed.
His plan on being monumentally late had been thrawted by a little misunderstanding of location. Now he would have to follow Gai to the right place. No sense in trying to lose the man, he'd tried that before and the only results were that Gai got more riled up for whatever stupid challenge he wanted to do in the first place.

Taking out his dog-eared copy of Icha Icha Tactics, he straightened and lazily waited for Gai to finish paying his respects.

Neji leaned back on the arm-bar of the bridge, it ws unusual for his sensei to be late, but then again, the silence was nice too. He looked over at the Uchiha boy standing across from him. The whole time they had been there, he had not said a word. Neji wondered if the dark-haired boy was still thinking about what had happened during the Chuunin exams.

But he didn't say anything, he was not the kind of person to pry on business what wasn't his.

After Gai finished paying his respects, he bowwed and looked to Kakashi. "Well then; off to the bridge! We must not keep our students waiting. Let's go, rival!" the man shouted, and puffed his chest out and he began to walk proudly off.

Sasuke glanced up into the white globes of the Hyuuga, and looked away. Silence...something he hadn't heard in a while. Especailly when they were on a mission; his team was almost always bickering. He shoved his hands in his pockets, and looked off in the distance, spotting Gai and Kakashi.

Kakashi leaped from tree to tree, searching the surrounding branches for enemies and the ground for a good place to camp. Eventually he spotted the latter.

He held up his hand as he landed heavily on a sturdy willow branch. "Group, halt!"
His fellow Jounin Gai, who stopped near him and flashed everyone a smile, and his two kouhais, Sasuke and Neji, stopped jumping to hear him.

"We are very near the enemy, however, we've been running around all day and if we confront them now we might not be at our best. So I suggest we stop for the night and rest." He looked around. "I think below us is a good spot, ne, Gai?"

Neji found the whole idea annoying. Why stop for the night when they could still keep going? There was something about the Land of the Mist that didn't sit well with him and the sooner they got out of there the better.

As they set up camp, an idea formed in his head. They were ninjas after all, it didn't make sense for them to wait for daylight to attack. A ninja was sneaky and artful. Ninjas attacked at night. Which was exactly what he would do.

"Ah, yes, indeed, Rival." Gai sighed, and leaped down from the branch. "Besides, to keep our youth healthy we must get a good nights rest! Also, we need to conserve or energy." he replied.

"Wouldn't our best bet be attacking at night?" Suddenly the Uchiha asked as everyone turned to him. "We're ninja after all, Kakashi." he started

"No, Sasuke, that is what they expect us to do, ne? Yare, remember, always see the underneath of the underneath." The Copy-nin landed on the chosen spot. "Let's get set up."

Kakashi began to build a smokeless fire while the rest of his team set up a camp that would be easily picked up and it's traces erased.

He noticed that both the Genins were fidgeting to do more, though they tried not to show it. He sighed. Why couldn't he be assigned missions with less impatient kouhais?

Hn, so Uchiha thinks the same. As he finished setting up the tent, Neji decided to tell the young avenger about his plan to sneak off and finish the enemy. He could use the genius's help in getting past their senseis. Both were upper-level Jounin after all, even if Gai rarely acted the part.

He would have to wait until later in the night though.

After Sasuke had finished setting up his tent, he sat down on a log around a small fire they had set up. He so wanted to go take care of those enemies; he couldn't stand waiting until they moved on to attack them.

Later that night, after everyone was in their tents, Sasuke snuck out of his, and grabbed his bag, getting ready to head off when he bumped into someone; Neji.

"Ne, Uchiha, whate are you doing?" Neji grabbed the younger genin's shoulder but whispered as softly as he could while still being heard. "I know where you are going, I thought the same thing too, but you must be more careful."

Leaning closer to Sasuke, he said in a conspirational tone, "we could help each other, but you mustn't give us away."

Inside his tent, pretending to be asleep, Kakashi knew what the two Genins where planning outside. He decided to wait to see if they would actually go through with it before acting.

"Anou...we won't get caught." Sasuke stated. "I never get caught; you won't either. I'm an Uchiha; you're a Hyuuga. We're from the most elite clans in the village." Sasuke whispered. "Anyways, are you all ready to set out?" he asked in a low whisper. Maybe having the Hyuuga around wouldn't be that bad, it might even be quite enjoyable.

Gai rustled in his tent, and his eyes fluttered open at the sudden whispering outside of the tent; it must have been Sasuke and his pupil, Neji. So stealthly, he snuck out of his tent, and into Kakashi's. He crept over to him, and shook him softly. "...oi, rival! Rival!" he hissed in his ear
