It was a fairly nice day and Telek a middle aged Githzerai traveled from out of the plains of limbo and into the Material plains he scoffed at the smell of the city and ventured forth he came to the material plains for a reason. he could sense some one with great power of the mind powers that had yet been unlocked and he feared the power would atract a mind flayer the dreaded creatures that enslaved the gith races hundreds of years ago and feast on the brains of all those with high enough mental capasity. Telek ignored the stupid people staring it wasnt very often one of his race just popped up in such a small and unsignificant city

Ria, meanwhile, went about her day as usual. It wasn't particularly interesting, even to her. At 18 she was officially a grown woman, in theory anyway, so had to have all the responsibilities. When she wasn't working in the local tavern she was working her second job in a grocery shop. Today she was fetching and carrying stock over in baskets.
After what seemed like an age of going back and forth she huffed and ducked down a sidestreet to sneak a break, turning her large basket over and using it as a stool. Her wavy blonde hair cascaded in front of her face as she leant on her knees with a sigh, her green eyes looking down at her feet.
He then directed her eyes back to the passing crowd, lapsing into a vivid daydream as she often did. her teachers had always called her too much of a dreamer, but she had always found her own little mental world far more interesting than this boring real one. no one seemed ot understand her.

Telek walked over to the street alley she was in and smiled "ahh just what i was hoping for." he said quit pleased "some one who spends there time in deep pondering." he said all of this out loud "tell me girl what is your name?" he asked kindly "I promise you mine if I get yours." the githzerai are a naturally untrusting bunch who dont mettle in the afairs of the material world but not Telek he had a soft spot in his heart for the material planes.

Ria jumped in surprise at Telek's sudden arrival. Not only had he snapped her out of her musing, but he was pretty scary to look at.
she stood up defensively, stepping back to put the basket in between them, but looked at him with as much curiosity as wariness. She opened her mouth to ask who he was, but he made it obvious he wouldn't tell her until he had her name.
Very well, then.

"Ria. Ria Summers." she said a little cagily, her eyes flicking over him again, trying to take all of him in. Her voice was pretty, if a little common in inflection.
"Who are you? what are you?"

Telek was appalled he lightly scowled "I am Telek I have no last name because us Githzerai do not bother with such useeless things." he told her "now stop acting like a scared fool I am not a monster of the damned I am a Humanoid and it will do you right to remember that I'll have you know I'm pretty offended." he told her "I treated you a complete stranger with the utmost respect and I get THAT in return." he complained "now are you going to be polite?" he demanded

It was Ria's turn to look offended.
"Hey, I was perfectly polite." she grumbled. "I was just curious so i asked whoa nd what you were, which is a perfectly reaosnable question if you ask me. I didn't think the Githzerai were real." she added the last part frankly. It became clear that she hadn't meant to be rude, she just didn't much know how else to act.
She pulled her long hair out of her eyes and behind an ear.

"didnt think the githzerai where real?" he asked a bit concerned "no wonder the gith look apun this plain with such disgust. I bet you also dont think the mind flayer is real? do you ever even have any heros pass by herre you know bards, knights, mages?" he asked her calmly

" thought that was something parents told their kids to get them to shut up and go to bed." Ria admitted.
She then watched the crowd pass by and shrugged.
"We get a few, not many. it's a small town, what can I say? The knights are pompous twats." she sniffed in disapproval. "And bards get drunk and perverted to easy. it's always a nightmare trying to deal with them in our Inn"
she looked up at him.

Telek nodded "agreed. but what of mages you must find them to be intellegent. and before you tell me your opinion I'll let you know I am not a mage I dont really dabble in the arts of magic besides when I planes shift." Telek explained to her "shall we find some where to sit and maybe have soemthing to eat?" he asked her hoping to get to series disscussions.

"I haven't had much to do with them, really. They just usually seem old and distracted." she said levelly.
At his suggestion they go elsewhere she glanced back down the street to the shop she was supposed to work in, and then smirked. She'd play truant - she was bored and this man was far too interesting to turn down. She smiled at him.
"Ok, Talek. but before we do...why are you so interested in me? I mean, surely there's better people out there to talk to. you appeared out of nowhere."
