The child yelped as he was yanked back by the collar of his shirt and Krillin clamped a hand over his mouth. "Shut up!" Gohan didn't move but glanced up as the series of odd looking aliens flew by. "Drop your ki, Gohan! All the way down!"
The boy didn't argue and as soon as the group's ki vanished, the boy looked up at Krillin
"Krillin? Did you...feel that too?"
"yeah...we're way out of our league." he replied solemnly.
Gohan eyed him "but...we can't quit Krillin, what about the others? Yamcha? Tien...and...and Piccolo..."
Krillin had every intention of telling the boy that by all standards they didn't have a chance and should turn around and go back to Earth, defeated but Gohan regarded him with eyes wide and full of tears

"Stop it and pull yourself together Gohan we need to be calm right now and try and get to Bulma again."
"But what if they've,..."
"No now stop thinking like that! Bulma's fine I just know it."
"Bu,... B,..." The boy studdered scared out of his mind.

Gohan stared at the elder man who pulled him into a tight embrace. Gohan was still fairly new to all this fighting. he had fought the Saiyans on Earth and that had been his first taste of battle but he hadn't the experience Krillin had.
"krillin..."
"Hush, let's go find Bulma."
Gohan wanted to say more but he opted against it but as they walked, not wanting to alert anyone by raising their ki, Gohan said,
"I wish Daddy was here."

"I know little buddy but he's not so we need to do him proud and come out the victor alright." Gohan nodded and looked over he found one of the men they were trying to hide from. His small chubby legs shook, in fear as his pants became damp.
"Krillin, Its Vegeta!" he whispered.

Krillin cursed under his breath
"Damn it."
But he kept silent otherwise. He pulled Gohan down into a quick crouch, whispering "Hush Gohan, don't move, don't spealk, try not to even breathe."
The boy nodded and buried his face into Krillin's shoulder.
Krillin normally did not think himself overly brave, not like Goku or Yamcha or Tien but with this smaller child pressed into him, he found himself feeling a lot more daring then he normally was. He felt that should Vegeta attack, he was more than ready to take him head on

The boy trembled as the Sayian prince flew over trying to find the dragonballz himself. Seeing and sincing he was gone Krillin moved Gohan forward,
"Move slow, and try not to step on anything and stay silent."

Gohan nodded, following the elder warrior, keeping silent. After getting a good ways, away, he called "krillin?"
"Shh!"
"But Krillin..."
"I said hush!"
The boy sighed but fell silent, not about to press him anymore

The human monk turned
"What are you-" he paused, seeing the boy's face. Flying overhead were dozens of aliens, of all kinds of races. Krillin cursed "Damn it!" and pulled Gohan into his grip again, hiding behind a large rock. Gohan pressed into him, not liking this one bit. He felt scared and frightened
"I want Daddy." he whimpered again
