Lucian shushed his errant stomach as it loudly demanded food, scared to death he was going to hear the patter of awakened feet at any moment. A house job. Just... absolutely terrific. It felt more like stealing this way. This was someone's house. Not some empty building full of uniform cubicles. He adjusted his filthy glasses on his face and pressed onward on noiseless feet.

Once he'd found the study he cracked his fingers and turned the computer on, smiling at its soft comforting whirr. His eyes focused slightly to the screen and he could just barely make out what it said. With a sigh he slid in the disk, beginning to load the files onto it.

He was small. Even for a twelve year old. Barely reached four three. His body was all lean muscle, starved and hard angles. What baby fat he'd had his body had burned off to keep itself alive. His clothes consisted of a large possibly blue shirt. It was so torn and soiled no one could discern the real color. And a pair of shabby blue jean shorts. He didn't wear shoes or socks. He dropped a filthy bag on the floor and continued to watch the screen nervously.

Johnathan Arkham pulled up into his driveway and yawned...it was exactly 3:15and it had been a long night at the hospital...and he had delivered several sets of twins....he was exhausted.....still wearing his white Doctors coat and namebage he pulled out his set of keys and unlocked his front door...he felt a slight breeze as he entered.....if felt like a window was open....he walked into the living room and saw the window was wide open and the screen was broken.

Johnathan frowned....and looked around.....through the quiet of the house he was sure he could hear the low whirr of the computer in the library...he grabbed a poker from the fireplace and started for the Library.

Lucian was too absorbed in his work to pay any attention or listen for the sounds of someone moving about. He yawned softly, his little body tired from working so late and being so hungry all the time. He scrubbed at his dirty golden curls, they'd grown all out of control down around his ears and into his eyes.

Pale green eyes, colored to show his failing sight, scanned the screen over and over, clicking and occasioanlly dancing nimbly across the keyboard.

Johnathan carefully closed his fingers around the doorknob of the library where he could hear the distinct sound of fingers on the keyboard clicking away.

He imagined a great big burly guy trying to steal his computer and prepared to knock him out cold with the iron poker....taking a deep breath Doctor Arkham slammed the door open trying to use the element of surprise to scare the intruder so he wouldnt have to fight.
"HOLD IT RIGHT THERE!!!" he shouted loudly...he dark hair stringing over one eye....his piercing ice blue eyes wide with surprise as he saw what looked to him like a small child at the computer.

Lucian froze at the computer, looking at him, pale eyes wide. "Go back to bed!" He said hurriedly, doing the only thing he could think to do. "You... you're... uh... sleep walking!" He waved his hands in a circles. "You're getting sleepy! Ever so..." He put his hands down slowly.

"You... aren't buying any of this." He said softly, moving to edge out of the chair and run. "Are you?"

"No" Johanthan saidl bluntly..."I just got home...I havent gone to bed yet." he said half glad that it was not some brute he was going to fight...but he still had a problem on his hands.

"What do you think you are doing!!??..breaking into my house!" Johnathans sense returning to him as he relized that this kid had broken into his house.

He watched as the kid started to run for the door but grabbed him up easily...he was surprised how light the kid was and held him up off the floor.

Lucian struggled fro only a little bit in the others hold, getting tired again easily. He yawned hugely and looked at him, chewing his little pink lips and considering what he should tell the other. Lying had not worked at all. He shrugged. The truth then. He hated to lie anyway.

"Well. There is this man. Who gives me money to break into places and take information from computers." He said, looking down at the floor. "So... If you could kindly let go of me. I need to get back to him..."

"I dont think so!" Johathan said.

"Your not going ANYWHERE"...I dont take kindly to kids breaking into my house" he said severly.

Johnathan noticed as he held the boy that he could feel almost each individual bone poking against his skin...his heart pinched in compation...It diddnt take him being a doctor to tell the boy was malnurished.

"I would ask you where you live...but its plain to tell by the way your dressed and you manor of profession that its in some dump no-doubt."

Lucian scowled. "Well I can't unbreak into your house!" He said in exasperation, kicking his legs a little. He rather enjoyed being held up like this. Even if it was by some random, rather angry looking, man weilding a poker. He crossed his arms and drew himself up.

"I live in a very nice place!" He said defensively. "That old theatre in the the center of town." He nodded. The theatre had been abandoned years ago. It was old a dilapidated, a dangerous place to stay in.

"Oh yes sounds like a swell place to live" Johathan said then held the boy out in front of him..so he could look him strait in the eye....the boys feet dangled off the floor.

"Tell you what...I'm going to give you two choices!....I can either call the police and have them take you away to live for the next 6 months in Juvinile Hall...where I am sure you could have a great time learning how to make licence plates......OR....You can work for me the next 6 months to pay off your crime of breaking into my house...you would of course be well fed and clothed....and who knows you might actually come away learning somthing that could change your future for the better."

He let those last words hang in the air.

"Of course though the choice is up to you."
