So, Wheel of Time author, Robert Jordan, passed away. In the fantasy literary comunity he will be much missed.
I didn't much like his books or style, but I loved some of his concepts, acknowlege he was a decent author and applaud the amount of work he did.

In order to finish the Wheel of Time saga, a new and young author has been brought forwards, named Brandon Sanderson a lot of people have high hopes for him and although the chances of me reading any of these books are very, very low I wish him all the luck. A number of people who I know and have respect for know this guy themselves, one of them quite personally and I'm assured he'll do a great job bringing Robert Jordans epic to a conclusion he'd be proud of and without stealing any of the limelight off from him.

Begs one questions thou... what are the chances of him having a spanking fetish?
I've not got the nerve to ask anyone I know outside of this community for the twin reasons I don't think they'd want to know I have a spanking fetish (nor would it serve a purpose for them to know about my private life) and secondly... I've told them I've not read the books. To start asking detailed questions about spanking even in terms of "Robert Jordans' Oddness" won't be constructive.

Damnit, I kinda hope he does have a fetish, or at least just grits his teeth (or holds his nose) and gets on with it the way the Great Robert Jordan would have wanted.

you know, the first time i read tWoT i didn't even notice the spanking references (well, not until the last book, that one was kinda obvious). i was too entranced by the story. the BEST epic fantasy series ever, and a major tragedy that it was not finished during his lifetime.

i started reading Eye of the World the summer before 8th grade, which was longer ago than i care to remember, and i was actually a latecomer to the series (book seven had just come out). it has been a part of my life for over a decade.

I'd been following the series since about halfway through high school (Book 8 was out or about to come out when I started the series, but I caught up very quickly), and I was sad when I got the news.

He gradually introduced the references in the books. There were none in the first, hints in the second, mentions of events in the later ones...I think I realized that he and I shared a fetish somewhere around 7 or 8.

I luv Robert Jordan, the spanking scenes were gravy on top of the great fantasy stories.

Hey, RobM...did you ever read the Conan stories by Mr. Jordan ? They are just as good as WOT and they had a few have yummy spanking scenes as well !

I did not know he died... that's a sad thing to hear. An author who could not conclude his series.
But I'm also glad to hear that it will continue, even by another author.

So you all are quite sure Jordan had the fetish? Hm, guess so, when he also wrote such scenes in other books.

I just loved the scenes and didn't ask myself about him having a fetish. Did he ever confirm it? Was he asked? Do you know that?

I really don't know the new author. But even if he does not have a spanking fetish, I hope he will write in the same (or nearly the same) style. And that would certainly involve spanking scenes, or at least talks about it.

Cougar, there are also scenes in book 1. It does not happen, but they remember and talk about it very often.
