To speak a bit on Nene's point, some people simply lie because they feel they have to, or they simply can't avoid it.

For instance, I'm a borderline pathological liar; it's tied into my Asperger's Syndrome. I tend to lie to make myself look better, so that I'll feel more accepted socially. I honestly can't help it.

Hmm...the things that irritate you most? I have two, which I don't really have a reason for. Having to repeat myself, listening to someone else repeat themselves or having to shout/talk louder, hearing someone else shouting. I don't know why, but these things really get on my nerves. I can understand when i'm talking to someone who can't hear well, which I often do and still get annoyed, but it just gets to me anyway.

Let me add another thing to this list. And a little story to go along with it. So I'm a supervisor more or less in charge of the shipping department and minor database management. Now I try very hard to be professional as much as possible, I'm always looking to move up and to make a good impression with the bosses so i can get that raise they keep telling me is 'just around the corner'. So anyways, my boss doesn't like his workers to be on their cellphones during work, not a big deal and no surprise... however. This rule only seems to apply to some people. See I got a text a few days ago from my buddy his wife was in the hospital having twins he was all excited so i read the message and responded back a quick congrats and good luck. Just as my boss happened to come around the corner (just my luck right?), he says hey you know that doesn't look good if the big managers come around blah blah. i say ya i know sorry, important announcement etc. so the next day like every other day im not on my phone at all the whole day, until about 2 hrs till its time to leave and i get a text from a different friend his mother is in the hospital she was in a car accident she's in the icu and i didn't want to ignore it so i quickly sent my best prayers all that... probably about 30 seconds or less to send my msg. well just my luck......... again, boss happens to walk by at the moment......... he hasn't been by all day.... till then. he glares at me and says we talked about this. and I say my friend's mother is in the hospital i'm sorry, i didn't want him to think i didn't care, but it was a one-time msg that's all. he kinda shakes his head and walks off. Now I am not saying that it is not my fault that i got caught sending a text even if i think its justified it was against the rule..........

but....... what I do despise............. is that 1. my boss is on the phone all day long, texting, making personal calls, its quite easy to tell when it's personal or not. On top of that, there are 3-4 people who text all day long, and 2 who are on their phones talking to their girlfriend ALLLL DAY LONG literally everyday.......... and the boss as has caught them several times and never said a word......... i don't understand why its' only me who gets in trouble for it... so... it really drives me postal when the same rules don't apply to everyone.... people who are immune drive me crazy

I completely despise hearing children whine and bicker about nonsense that can be easily fixed with common sense, and I hate when parents let their children scream becuase they don't want to discipline...I also despise when people defend their older children ( like 8-10 ) for something they did that was did becuase they ' don't know any better". It really pisses me off.

Debt collectors calling your phone at 7 in the morning, granted...I wake up at 6-7 every morning to let my puppies outside, but it is still annoying.

Seeing guys think that they are better and should be the leader in the relationship becuase they are ' The man' really drives me up the wall! D8< I also don't like people who cheat but can do it without shame and lie about it later.

My mother does this too, when people stare at you while you eat, its like..like critisizing look and you just want to yel at them to stare at their own ass. Is that just me? o3o

Also, I'd have to agree with Spank7acular, chat-speak should only be used on texts and messages to make things faster, you shouldn't act like a robot.

Those are all the pet peeves I can think for now :3

ya this was a great topic idea It's funny the things that bother some people that nobody else would even notice and then there's some that quite a few of us have in common.
Here's another one:

When teachers/parents used to say they need to talk to you and you knew what was the problem was but were not involved. So soon as you get there you say: "it wasn't me; I wasn't around, was not involved etc." and they'd say "I didn't even ask about that, are you feeling guilty?" with that smug look like you just gave yourself away........ UGH! NO! I just know what you're pissed about and want to the get the hell out of the way as quickly as possible!

another thing my step-father used to do that made me want to stab him, (not literally), we'd be arguing about something, trying to get permission, talking about why i do something a certain way, and suddenly he'd be like 'this conversation's over, no i don't know why you're still talking, it's done. don't talk' while you never got a chance to explain, or you were in the middle of most definitely proving your point and how you were right and he just shut down like nothing you say has any value.... ugh that pissed me off so much when I was like 18, 19, 20... not a kid anymore, so what I say can be logical, thought-out, and dare-I-say-it... right? I wasn't ever one of those kids who always thought he was right... so i felt like if i did think so they least they could do is hear me out.

That kinda stuff pissed me off too, Spank7acular!

Another thing, I HATE when I am working and the customers ask if they can put their tips in your shirt or something, I mean, dude, It's a BANQUET HALL...NOT HOOTERS. Sure, I am a waitress but at least you could have a little more respect! Or when you act like you're the only table that exists in a room of 800 people. I hate that so much, and then after being a pain in the ass, you don't tip!

When you also offer someone help and they say " No No, I got it" and then later complain that no one ever helps them, my mother did and still does that a lot, and then after I clean the house she doesn't even acknowledge it.

I also hate when people argue with you about things they don't even know about. They'll INSIST that they are right when they have no clue what they are doing or talking about while you do and they claim you're the wrong one, Seriously, do your research first.

I know exactly what you're talking about at the banquet hall I worked at one for a couple years at The Aquaturf Club which is supposed to pretty ritzy, and sometimes you'd have the nicest people and they'd treat you like gold and tip so nicely and thank you for every little thing you do, even had some people take my picture with them lol...and then....... you'd have the people who constantly complain about everything! my prime rib is too rare.. you asked for medium rare... believe me rare below that is bleeding... so you bring it back to be cooked more and they up it just slightly now it's too cooked, now they want more juice on it, now they want a whole new one cuz there's too much bone...... now they want all new sides because their meat is only just now coming and they want to eat it all at once... now they want more rolls.... now they have a basket full of rolls but the table ate all the garlic rolls so they want more of those....... its too cold in here it's too warm in here, the music is too loud, i don't like this kind of music (as if i set the playlist for the dj/band). My drink isn't could tell them to re-make it, i drank 3/4 of it but i don't wanna pay for another....... tell the bar to make this drink no-one has ever heard of and expect them to know what's in it. let's go get drunk and drop all our drinks on the dance floor....... and shatter glass across it while all the girls are dancing bare-foot... let's smack that guy/girl's ass as they walk by (seriously happened to me more than once... and im don't even consider myself that good looking lol), lets not leave any tip or lets hand the waiter a 20 as a tip and then want change... from the waiter... as if i carry a stack of bills in my pocket for just such occasions... seriously people are ridiculous. Oh we've been waiting for coffee for 5 minutes! ya cuz i don't have 7-8 other tables that i'm working myself in which i have to ask each person if they want tea coffee decaf or something else..... and dessert to pass out... people are ridiculous.......... okay.... lol im done schpieling.... i don't even work there anymore... but they drove me crazy some nights... the only good thing was they paid.... decently per hour and sometimes you got a tip, but the more important part was after your party was over you could go to one of the other empty rooms and make whatever alcoholic drink you wanted for yourself so long as you didn't take it home lol. some nights you REALLY needed it.

My mother also did the, no i don't need help thing and then later look at you all mad and be like 'gee thanks for helping, you sure don't mind helping to eat the holiday dinner i made!' and i stopped cleaning the kitchen or living room without being asked because nobody ever noticed or mentioned it except maybe once or twice. i know mom used to do that stuff all the time and she didn't get thanks for it, but as a kid i wanted thanks lol.

omg... i think we might be twins.... i have a cousin who does this EXACT thing and it drives me crazy. One time we were talking computers and he knows a bit about computers but i have more knowledge because i've done a lot of self-teaching and i had a couple friends who were AMAZING with what they could do and i surrounded myself with people like that so i could learn myself. well one day we spent like 20 minutes arguing over solid state drives over standard hard drives... and he swore to me that standard hdd's were better more long lasting, easier upkeep, faster... and he KNEW this because he worked at a place that makes hard drives. well for those that don't know ssdd's are like giant flash drives... lack of moving parts means virtually no wear... the speed is AMAZING far out performs a spinning hdd, they last much longer the only downside is the price ssdd are naturally more expensive, but in performance there is no contest. he would not give in so finally i dropped it and just shook my head while he walked off feeling superior.. or maybe he walked off knowing he was wrong but not being as embarrassed thinking he'd convinced me. but anyways we had convos like this allllll the time and he would never admit he was wrong even if he was clearly proven to be, and he was also one of those people who feels the need to make other people think he knows about every possible subject... so he would start these arguments about things he literally had no clue about... i never understood that... i never start an argument about something that isn't debatable unless im 100% sure i'm right... what's the point in looking stupid at the end?

THAT'S IT EXACTLY!!!! I work at the Fiesta Banquets, it's a nice place but we can't have drinks when everything is over, if anything we need to set up the rooms for the next day and everything @_@ But you hit it perfectly on the nail!!! I normally have about 2-3 tables when it's easy but out of nowhere the bartender wil need help and a waitress has to leave in the middle, leaving me with an extra two tables becuase I'm the most trustworthy and best waitress at my job XD so I'm stuck freaking out to find the two extra tables and then I have to be a little late. ' I want more cheese, I want more sauce, I want no dressing' wel then. Why not tell me beforehand? =w= Don't ou just HATe when they ask for Well done and then they complain that its dry or too cooked? Finally a fellow Waiter/Waitress that knows my pain! lets not forget that they don't care if you have been working a double shift and have been 15 hours on your feet! ( I'm flat footed so the pain gets me to tears @_@ ) I get paid like $9 an hour, so its not too bad.

Thats exactly how I am when debating! Every single thing I say i back it up with scientific references or statistics or personal experiances. My mother always said that I should quit trying to be a vet and just go to school to be a lawyer, hahaha.

I like to help just to hep, but at the same time do want a thank you. I noticed that many mothers are like that. and I remember when I was little if I asked why she didn't give me a nickel for work like other kids' parents did , she'd say " When you pay me for what I do, Ill pay you for what you do!"

Oh god....... set up for the next day or as we called it 'working to the end' ever night party and some day parties would last a couple hours sometimes several hours, so in between parties if you weren't 'to the end' you could leave after dessert (if you were really lucky) or after dishes were brought to the dish room and the after the silverware was done. Now if you were to the end..... you have stay and break down all the tables and decorations, flowers, stack all the chairs move these giants stacks to some other place etc etc, and then........ roll in all the new tables set up all however many hundred it was (sometimes you lucked out and it was only like 30-50 tables and sometimes on a dream day you'd get really lucky with only like 20 tables (those days were a breeze cuz serving meant 3 tables, naturally it wasn't cake, but compared to the standard 4-5 it was nice. the only down side was you got waaaay less help. on a standard day you'd do 5 and often someone would who was you're 'partner' would come by and sometimes help you clear or maybe grab another set of rolls for you or help with coffee if they had a free minute from their tables and you would help them if you had lag time, but in smaller parties to save money customer hired less staff hence you get 0 help. But anyways set up... set so many tables..... table clothes alternating colors, sometimes 4 forks 2 spoons a knife a steak knife wine glasses champaign water coffee... how they expected to fit all of this on these tables for 10-12 people i'll never know but we always managed somehow, then you gotta fold up the napkins into these fan shaped things and put them on the plates, and eventually they decided to be fancier we would fold them into these orchid shaped things and put them in the glass... idk why they called them orchids... they looked nothing like orchids.... lol and not as fancy as the fans imo and they were a pain in the ass cuz they never stayed up just right unless you lucked out with a really well starched set of napkins. but i remember folding hundreds of those stupid napkins for a party every day... so much so that when i have people over i fold the napkins like that even now hahaha... it does look nice but i have to laugh a little when i do it. my older sister just shakes her head because she worked there at one point too and she thinks im a dork if i do it. the worst part though was 'the wall' the biggest two rooms was really a single giant room which they separated with a removeable wall... one that wedged floor to ceiling in this huge room totally sound proof heavy hell and covered with satin i think they were curtains that were super heavy too cuz they covered the whole wall. the wall came in sections and moving it after one of those doubles you mentioned.... after all the clean up..... after all the set up for the next day...... at 2-freakin am...... trying to take down that wall... was horrible. you were so exhausted you wanted to pass out and trying to lift that thing... ugh. and staying to the end was always volunteer.... unless nobody volunteered... guess how often that happened? lol then it was random. whoever the matra'd happened to pick. being a guy... i got picked quite often. guys always got picked more so they could do the wall. lol.

OH! don't you love that, when suddenly a team or a waiter/tress has to leave cuz of some random emergency. "Hey! Joel! you and find someone else pick up the slack, so and so had to go home they had a 4 find someone and make sure you cover those tables! doesn't matter that i have my own tables... its just expected to be done. i completely understand that stress too! LOL@ the well done comment. I love that too. they always want it well but it's 'too cooked' or they want it rare and even though i tell them... rare means bloody... pink its not under-cooked but its very very rare, you might want to go medium rare to be safe! 'no no i know what i like' you bring rare. 'omg... i need it more cooked than that' lol... r u effin serious? did i not mention this? lol. and damn right they don't care if you've been there for a party already 5 hrs or 15 its all the same to them. People who really ticked me off i found minor ways to get back at them though lol. serve them LAST on every single course, accidentally 'forget' their coffee. whoops did i give you hi-test instead of decaf? darn i hope that doesn't keep you up all night! haha. i never did anything gross like spit in food or something, but i just found little ways to annoy people who were especially bitchy. Those minor victories kept my sanity at times. Oh did you specifically say no ice in ur drink? darn musta forgot :P lol I got paid $9/hr too when i worked there, some people got up'd to 10 and course matra d's got paid the most but sometimes matra's would be regular waiters too. I got bumped to 9.50 after working there 2 years lol... was like geez 50 cents for 2 years? nice... and they always wanted you to work christmas eve and new years eve too... if you skipped new years you would find yourself without work for like 2 months they wouldn't give you any or very few parties so your paycheck would suck.

haha exactly if you dont' know you're right, why bother arguing? best case scenario you're guessing and worst case you look stupid. if i don't know i present my theory and then listen to their side and unless its utterly stupid, i give them the 'hm that's an interesting idea i'll have to consider that when i have more time to think about it' lol. if they think you took them seriously... argument prevented and my time not wasted That's funny my mother always said i should go into psychology or therapy to be a counselor or some such since my thinking is generally logical and i find it easy to sympathize with people even if i haven't been through the same things as them. Vets are important too though, it's good to find something you can be passionate about or lend your energy to and it makes you feel good about yourself. Good luck!

I agree i didn't help so that i would get something for it, i did it so mom would be happy... but i hoped i would at least see her smile or something if i didn't get thanks... and when i saw no reaction at all... like she didn't even notice... on several occasions... that's when i gave up. figured what i was helping was either so bad she didn't even notice it or it was inconsequential. we got paid 25 cents a week if we washed/put away all the dishes kept our rooms "spotless" and cleaned the livingroom (dusting vacuuming every week). but i remember one time mom offered to pay my sister and i if we cleaned out the basement. and we worked so hard for hours and hours during our summer vacation. and when we were finally done. we went and told mom all proud of what we accomplished and she went down to check and said we didn't do a good enough job and she didn't pay us a cent. we were heart-broken well probably a bit more pissed off but we wasted so much of our vacation and we never had any money and my family didn't really go out for meals or to the theater except on very rare occasions so having like 5 bucks would have been a big deal (that's what we were hoping we'd get at the time) and to think those dreams were crushed lol. Let me just say that we never agreed to do something like that for money again lol. later on when we were teenagers mom started going out for meals and to movies more often and sometimes if we didn't have any money she would pay for us which was nice. though she did after my parents got divorced and she got remarried and had a kid pay us to babysit... 5/hr (when we were at our father's house) a couple times when she got home after 6 hrs she'd be like no $25 is more than enough im not paying more than that.... even if she'd be 6-8 hrs... so my sister and i stopped doing that too and got real jobs, my second job was this aquaturf thing.

wow this post is quite long huh.... whoops lol
