Angelica Tate
The mouse-ish man remained quiet as the mage, who he now knew as Lyall Ailward, explained his reasoning for coming home with his daughter. With each sentence, Angelica's father's face grew more taut, clearly unhappy with the unfolding scenario being presented to him. Jacob was quiet for a moment after the master finished speaking, staring at his folded hands on the table. "Angelica... I sincerely hope you didn't put the man up to this."

"What? N-no, of course not... He suggested it to me." The girl responded, sheepishly shaking her head. She almost looked hurt at the accusation, but her expression was blank for the most part. "I wanted to hear him out about it, but it started to rain. Father, please consider it... It's what I've wanted for so long."

The man shook his head plainly, a sympathetic frown causing his brows to furrow. "And you know full well why it's not possible for you to leave right now. I'm sorry, but it's out of the question." Angelica complacently hung her head, giving an understanding nod to her father. Turning his attention back to Lyall, he shook his head. "I'm glad you think she has potential, but I can't really afford to send her anywhere. She'd need a horse, among other things, and in such a small town they come neither often nor cheap. Her mother is ailing, and her medicines are expensive, so I don't have any funds left over for her to travel with."

With a sigh, he looked over at his daughter, a slightly disapproving look on his face. "I'm so sorry she wasted your time. She shouldn't have led you to believe that it might be a possibility, it was very rude of her to do. Apologize to the man, Angelica." The lavender-haired teen lifted her head again, her expression closely resembling that of a kicked puppy. "I'm sorry, Sir. I shouldn't have wasted your time..."

Trenton Bilcrawn
"No, no, it's okay!" He soothed, shaking his hands in front of him in a way that said 'don't worry about it'. "Don't apologize. Training you is what I'm here for, I guess, so I don't expect you to know everything right off." Although, any other apprentice would've assumed they did know, so it was a pleasant surprise when he saw that she was humble and honest about her capabilities. It would be far more difficult to teach a child that insisted their way was best, regardless of how volatile and destructive their powers could be when used improperly. It was children like that that made the world fear the mages.

He watched her close the window, thinking to himself of how prominently he'd felt the innate strength of her element when she'd summoned it. There was a lot of power to be had there, and he was honestly a bit frightened of what might happen to him if she should ever go out of control. "So! When exactly do you want to leave? Do you have a horse?"

The man watched the conversation take place and just remained quiet for now although he couldn’t prevent a light frown from coming to his features when the man started to speak, once the girl spoke he held his hand out, requesting silence in the most polite way he could. “Sir, I’m afraid you do not really understand me” He said with a grin in his features, trying to put ease to the situation.

“I’d understand if you were looking for another Master to take the role of mentor for your child, but to leave a child with such potential without any guidance at all is, without meaning disrespect, foolish and dangerous, magic finds its way out one way or another and without proper training, well, accidents tend to happen, and it’s never the kids fault” He explained. “There’s not such thing as cost for teaching and I wouldn’t require anything of you, I am looking for an apprentice, if it wasn’t because of the fact that it’d be buying, I’d offer you money for the opportunity to train your child” He explained.

“There’s a good reason why I didn’t mention any gold in the first place, I’m not rich, sir, but I don’t need gold, I need an apprentice, once under my wing I’d make sure she learned what she needed, and had what she required” He said calmly and then left some silence take place so the man and the child would be able to think about this new information.

---

The girl looked at her new Master as he explained that it was ok and nodded silently, her mother had told her about having a Master some time ago so she had guessed that he’d expect her already to know to do something so to her mothers chagrin she had tried to train with the wind but it wasn’t really working, she called to the wind but at times it answered too much, she once had gotten in a incident with a tree falling down due the wind rush… her mother had not been happy as she had nearly gotten herself a heart attack thinking her child was wounded badly.

Once she closed the window she turned to look at him and nodded. “I…I have a small horse, he’s not that used to l…long trips” She confessed softly, it was a bit strange that that little horse was the offspring of the massive horse her dad had taken when he went away, she guessed it was the same with her, the animal was still young most likely.

The father and daughter stared at each other for a moment after he'd finished speaking, clearly taking in the information given to them. "I wouldn't want her to be a burden on someone..." He began, but his tone was undecided; it was clear that he was well aware of how much his daughter was excited about the opportunity. It was also worth noting that both of them knew it might be the only chance she got. "Please...?" The girl asked softly, twiddling her fingers nervously. It was obvious the man was thinking things over, and like any eager teenager, she took the opportunity to try to convince him to decide in her favor. "Dad, it gets harder and harder to ignore it every day. I promised you and mom that I wouldn't use my magic until I had a master years ago when it first started, and I haven't slipped up once..."

"...What about your mother?" He asked, frowning. "She'll miss you terribly, and I don't know how she'll feel about sending you off with a stranger." Angelica hung her head again. She stood by the belief that her mother was far more likely to get better without the financial burden of herself included in the mix. "I'll miss her, too. But I think she'll be happy for me, and it would've happened anyway if I'd left to get a master on my own. You wouldn't have even gotten to meet him, then." This seemed to make up his mind for him, and he nodded. "If your mother says yes -" He turned his attention to the older man. "And if you're really sure you don't mind... Then okay."

Angelica bounced to her feet and practically tackled her father in a hug, then dashed towards the stairs, pausing at the bottom and coming back to peer in the doorway. "W-would you come too, please, Mister Ailward, Sir? I know she'd want to meet you." And indeed she would, as the frail brunette enjoyed whatever company she could get. Upstairs was a pale and dainty woman, who was quite beautiful but clearly had a poor constitution. She greeted everyone with a bright, warm smile, and loved nothing more than seeing people happy.

Trenton Bilcrawn
He nodded; it probably wasn't best to travel a lot at first, anyway, so perhaps it would work to their advantage. When the horse needed to stop, they could, too. "He'll work. We can just be careful not to push him too hard." Trenton confirmed with a nod, crossing his arms and tapping his fingers against his forearm in thought. Was there anything else they would need?

"Well, we can leave whenever you like." He was all too eager to get out of the city and back on the road; he felt most at home when he wasn't surrounded by buildings and people, if only because he didn't feel he needed to watch his back as much. "Just make sure that if you're hungry you eat now and then wait a bit before you decide we're going, or you'll get sick on the way."

The man kept quiet, letting them finish speaking, he had learned from his young years that interrupting often lead to stupid happenings and now that he was older he understood why, also he needed that both father and child were settled and in good terms, he would not separate a child from her family just because he wanted an apprentice, the man was her father, hence he had to be trusted with this decision.

Once that things were done he had to smile as he saw the child do so, he hoped that he could teach her to be less shy when the time came, for now he was happy due the man’s decision, the graying haired man stood up when the girl dashed to the stairs and half bowed to the father in both a thankful and respectful gesture before accompanying the child to see her mother. He was surprised at how weak she looked but he could sense that this woman was not just any woman, she had a fire inside her, even if sick, and a noble spirit, for the elements seemed to care for her, even if unable to heal her as they couldn't reach to her as they reached to her child.

“Good afternoon, ma’am” He said calmly and waited for the child to explain things on her own way, he would not take that right from her, this woman was her mother and she had the right to give the news to her mother. He guessed that he could program a coming every year or so, so his new apprentice could see her family, in order to keep her from feeling sad, for even emotions could affect learning when it came to magic.

“W…we could leave now, sir” The child muttered while accommodating the strap of her bag. “I…My mother and I, we…we ate not that long ago, and it’s not t…that easy that I get sick” She muttered while looking up at him, to see if he’d agreed on that. “W…we’d just have to get my horse and…and we could ….go” The last word was nearly whispered so, thanks to her scarf, it was nearly missed by the Master, the child was ready to go, but that didn’t mean that she wanted to leave her mother just like that, but she was sure that it was for the best, after all, her father had trusted this man for that, right?

She waited for his decision on this and just prepared.

The pale woman smiled widely at his greeting, clearly not disconcerted from his presence at all. "Good afternoon, Sir. I'm Celestine Tate - lovely to meet you." She was a very easygoing woman, and she took events as they came to her rather than fretting without reason - entirely unlike her daughter in this regard, though her patient nature and calm demeanor had been passed on to the lavender-haired teen. Just the same as with her father, however, Angelica didn't look anything like the ailing lady. Raven black hair and brown eyes deeply contrasted the woman's skin, but no sign of the lavender hair or blue eyes her daughter had could be seen.

Sitting in her mother's lap, with the woman's chin resting on top of her head, Angelica explained very briefly what had happened and what'd they'd discussed, then cautiously asked for her mother's permission, slightly dancing around the actual question at first in such a way that made it obvious she was worried about upsetting the sickly woman. "Oh, Ellie, I'm happy for you! I know how long you've wanted to be apprenticed. Of course you can, I'm certainly not going to be the one to spoil the fun! But..." Her gaze shifted so she was looking up at the older man in the same sheepish way Angelica often looked at people. Letting her daughter get to her feet, she softly asked the man, "You'll take care of her, right?"

Her eyes moved back to her daughter. "And you won't forget yourself, right? You'll stay my well-mannered little girl?" Angelica nodded, blushing a bit at being called her mother's 'little girl', and Celestine placed her hand on the girl's cheek. "Good. I know you'll be out experiencing lots of things, but you've always been such a good girl... I don't want that to change."

Trenton Bilcrawn
Hmm... He'd originally got the impression that she travelled often, seeing as she so easily packed up a travel bag and prepared herself to go, but it seemed this wasn't the case. Anyone who was familiar with moving around a lot and riding on horseback would know that eating right before a long ride meant that the movement of the animal they were riding would certainly throw their stomach into a fit. Though, he supposed she could be more used to carriages.

"Well, we may as well leave now, if you're not inclined to wait. I've got places to see and people to, er... Go." He'd even managed to confuse himself - quite masterful of him! Though he'd wanted to try to get a free meal out of the pretty older woman, he supposed it was bad manners to mooch food off of his friend's wife. She probably couldn't cook well, anyway, so perhaps he was better off skipping lunch. With a shrug of his lanky shoulders, he glanced her over. Though she was frustratingly meek, it didn't seem she was too unprepared for the journey ahead. At the very least, she didn't seem as scared as Trenton predicted originally, which meant less time worrying over a frightened child and more time getting on with his new job.

“Lovely to meet you too, ma’am.” He mentioned while letting the young girl go to her, he noticed how different the parents seemed to be from their child, not in demeanor but in physical appearance, it could mean many things, from the child having the looks of her grandparents, something that was not all that strange, or other possibilities that were better left unknown for now, if the reason of why the child looked so different from her parents was important and he was deemed as worthy of knowing it then it would come by itself to him, by now he was not going to make a bad example to his probable apprentice by showing impatience or meddling with someone else’s life.

He observed how the woman welcomed her daughter and looked down, giving them a bit of privacy as they talked, he hoped the woman granted the child her blessing for it is what would better for all those involved in this, the woman speaks and the Master finds himself looking at her, the question came fast and the graying haired man had to smile before nodding at the woman. “I give you my word of honor, ma’am, that I’ll see for her” He promised, letting the woman then speak to her child, if the child changed or not it would be her own decision, he would not deny her change if it was for the best, but if that change threatened to consume the girl then he would react immediately.

He smiled at the woman and nodded. “I am aware that goodbyes are not easy, I’ll be waiting on the stables, and ma’am, thank you” He said before retiring from the room.

---

The child had experience traveling often, but not always by horse, and she was not that used to really, really long rides, not to mention that she had eaten not that long ago, meaning less than an hour ago, or well, that was what “not long ago” meant for her.

The young girl followed her new Master, finding strange how he had stopped in the last part of the phrase, she wasn’t frightened of him after all what her father had spoken about him, she was scared of her new powers, hence why she was ok with being taken away, so she wouldn’t be able to get confused by the wind calling her, nor put her mom at danger.

Neha followed him and then they both were intercepted by the girl’s mother once more. “You, take this” She said to the man while shoving two bags to his hands and then turning at his daughter, to whom she carefully gave a kind of backpack and a sheath. “Be careful” She requested of the child as she kissed her temple and sighed. “You’re off to your longest journey yet, be careful” She requested.

The red eyed girl looked at her and nodded softly while looking at the sheath later to be shooed off by the woman along with her Master.

“Off you go, no use in staying long” She said and closed the door while trying to hide her tears from those two, no need for teary scenes now, she had to be strong and kick that “Master” on his way, and give her daughter her blessing!!

She got out as they were taking the horses, waving at Neha and wishing her luck while giving a warning glare to the man. “You better take care of her” She mouthed to him.
