I can't connect to irc.animeotk.com through either mIRC or the Java client. Is the server down?

Also, in the chatroom roleplay forum, there is a sticky with instructions for getting into the chat, but it says the server is slashnet. I think this should probably be updated, as I tried unsuccessfully to connect to the wrong server for almost a day. I'm not annoyed about it or anything, but just to save people time in the future.

If other people are able to get into the chat okay, does anyone know why I might be having problems?

been in the chatroom all day, do you have port 6667 blocked? some dorms seem to do that. I recall there is a fix, but cannot recall what it is. >< I think Exodus helped a person with a similar problem last fall, perhaps he could be of assistance?

It sounds like you are being blocked by a firewall or squid proxy (don't worry if you don't know what they are) if you cannot access the chatroom even through the java client http://animeotk.com/forum/javachat.php it might be worth trying the java client on one of our sister sites (although I doubt it will make a difference, it could be down to some software blocking java on adult sites) http://furryai.com/forum/javachat.php

What I'll need to know to help you more is your type of internet connection (I checked your IP address in the admin panel but could not determine anything from that). Are you trying to connect from home, from work, from an educational establishment (eg university dorm room etc) or from somewhere like an internet cafe?

Port 6667 may be blocked, but I can connect to other ports. The other site isn't working, either. I'm trying to connect from a college dorm room; I'm not sure exactly what kind of connection it is.
